I am a first time buyer. The seller picked McEwan Fraser Legal, Edinburgh. Unfortunately, my experience dealing with the company was not positive. My offer was accepted on 23 April, and I was advised by my solicitors that until the offer had been agreed in writing the contract was not binding on either party.  As my solicitor  continued reporting that McEwan Fraser Legal had not sent the written acceptance letter, and it was important for me to get it, on 23 May I contacted McEwan Fraser Legal.  I knew that in some cases written acceptance can take a bit of time, as a result, I decided to get in touch with them and share how I felt. Although I received a reply from the company, I still did not get the written acceptance. As a result, I ended up contacting the seller, and fortunately the next week I received the written acceptance. It was rather awkward to get in touch with the seller. I wish McEwan Fraser Legal had given me a timeline of when they would be able to send the written acceptance when I got in touch with them.  The seller's property was briefly under offer, however the prospective buyer withdrew.   As a nurse and human, who does not deal with law on a regular basis, I found it odd that McEwan Fraser Legal did not prioritise written acceptance or offer a timeline for me in these circumstances. Moreover, my entry date was delayed.  My understanding is that my solicitors did not receive the paperwork regarding alteration made in the property. After I left the original review, the director of McEwan Fraser Legal followed up with me on the phone, however, instead of apologising, he implied that the fault for the entry date being delayed lay with my solicitors, and told me that the written acceptance can take time as solicitors have to prioritise more urgent matters. He also asked me to remove the review. I also received a follow-up email asking to remove the review few days later. I replied asking him to summarise why my review was unfair. The next morning, on Saturday 6:48 am I heard from him again. He addressed few issues, however, did not touch the others points I made over the phone. I was also  given 24 hours to remove the review and a strong advice  to seek immediate independent legal advice. I am told that my review contains  defamatory content and propagated  baseless claims. I was also informed  that if I fail to comply, McEwan Fraser Legal would initiate legal proceedings, seeking both an interdict for the removal of the content and claim for significant general damages at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.  This was accompanied by "case law", essentially a pdf with detail of a man who accused a legal firm of being a scam and a waste of money and refused to take down the review unless they refunded him, didn't turn up to the ensuing court case, and was subsequently ordered to pay £25000.I fail to see how this applies to me, or this review, but as a result I have removed some of the detail from this review, as I am not a legal expert and don't wish to be liable for defamation. However, I do find it unfortunate that they resort to what could be construed as bullying behaviour instead of trying to understand and address the concerns I spoke with them about on the phone first. Hopefully this is enough detail for people to make a more informed decision about whether to use their services. Trust Pilot is full of great reviews about this company, and a lot of people have clearly had a positive experience with McEwan Fraser Legal. It has 4.7 stars here. Hopefully, I will not have to go to court, and pay a fine in the middle of the cost living crisis for sharing my experience. My problems with McEwan Fraser Legal were not the worst in the grand scheme of things, but I truly believe that the Director could have handled the situation differently - better. McEwan Fraser Legal, it is impossible to be organised and on top of our game 100 % of the time. Sometimes things go wrong. It is human. We can discuss when things go wrong without bringing the courts into the picture! You also mentioned that you do not oppose bad reviews if they are truthful and reflective. I did my best here. I hope it is good enough to avoid giving the courts extra work, too. I heard they are overwhelmed and backlogs are actually getting larger as the crisis in the justice system worsens.

Rude and unprofessional company. Tried to book a viewing for a property and was not replied to by the viewing agent - called the day after the Web Form submission and used their Contact Form the day after that as I couldn't quite believe they would take this long to arrange a viewing for a property they were representing. Got no response at all from the viewing agent so unable to view the property - bear this in mind if you're considering using this company to market your home.
