We had a very poor experience marketing our home with McEwan Fraser. Basic mistakes were made with the marketing (e.g. bathroom photos initially omitted from listing), we had to continually push for ideas/advice on the selling strategy and the terms of their “value add” equity release option were unclear and ultimately unworkable for us. We eventually dis-instructed them and ended up in a protracted and unsatisfactory complaints process where their position essentially was 1. You didn’t notice our mistakes at the time and/or 2. We aren’t liable under our Ts&Cs. We would not recommend.

Do not recommend! I employed McEwan Fraser Legal to write and send a letter on my behalf. I had two letters sent on different occasions - both tracked delivery but both appeared to go missing. When the recipent finally recieved the letter it came to light that McEwan Fraser Legal had already given them advice, therefore there is a conflict of interests. I find it extremely unprofessional that this was not highlighted to me earlier. My emails to McEwan Fraser Legal requesting a refund have been ignored. I should not have been taken on as a client to begin with. I feel they have wasted both my time and my money.

Overall, I had a great experience with McEwan Fraser Legal, including prior to my property offer being accepted, the whole team were there to answer questions and advise, as well as make offers when requested. Once my offer was accepted just before Christmas, Barry was extremely helpful throughout the entire transaction, with prompt communication and regular updates that kept me reassured throughout. If I had any queries or needed advice on best approaches he would always be available and quick to respond. The process was much smoother than I could have expected.

Quite happy with my experience with McEwan and Fraser. My solicitor was always quick to get back to me when I had any questions about anything and was very persistent in chasing up a very slow selling solicitor who was being frustratingly slow. Even so he kept hounding them and did everything he could to keep them moving.

My name is Alex, and McEwan Fraser acted as Estate Agents helping me to sell our 25% share in our flat at Quayside Street in Leith. From the outset, we were very well attended to by Jamie, a valuer, who took time to give us great advice, to try to achieve our goals. The introduction and related processes (photographs, the valuation etc) were superbly handled, and set the tone for what turned out to be a very successful sale. The initial process was followed by the team at Head office, who dealt with all interested viewers. They were lead by Claire, and I couldn’t have asked for more friendly, helpful and professional people. The telephone service was available and active outwith normal hours, including weekends, and I had many helpful calls from the staff, regardless of ‘shift-time’. We had 39 viewers and it was all handled excellently. Indeed, all contacts were superb, and it leads me to believe that that sparkling professionalism must be a hallmark of the firm from top to bottom. I was so delighted with the service I am very likely to ask McEwan Fraser to provide advice on the likes of a trust, PoA and wills in the very near future. I had done my homework before, and I was expecting a good service from McF, but in fact they exceeded those expectations in all respects.

McEwan Fraser acted as both estate agents and solcitors for my property in the small Highland village of Ardgay. They really went above and beyond - within a week of my house being advertised I had viewings from people as far afield as the South of England. Within five weeks I had seven offers! Both Craig Peters and Emma Lynch were great at getting the house on the market and guiding me through the sale process. My legal representative was Artur Lasisz and he was fantastic at keeping me informed, keeping on top of things and was also approachable and informative with any questions I had. The sales side of the company is good, but once it hits the legal team they couldn't care less about you. Was given a closing date by one person, then my sale was passed to the legal team. Chased multiple times to ensure we were still on that same closing date, which was important because I had to fly in from abroad to do the handover. Each time, either ignored or told nothing had changed. I fly in - the sale still isn't complete. I'm actually informed of this in a call where I'm also told the process normally takes 5/6 weeks, and the closing date I was given was never realistic to begin with. Shame you never told me, because I'm already here wasting time off for nothing. Followed their complaints procedure and explained my points in an email - that was September, and I still haven't heard back. My sale was completed around 3 weeks later (with a couple of further delays) but nobody apologized, or even acknowledged, the issues prior to that. They will sell your house, but don't expect a modicum of respect.
