United Kingdom | 07 July 2023The product is alright however the rest was poor. I waited 16 weeks instead of 6-10 advertised. The communication were quite poor. Only happened after I initiated. No after sales service to check if everything is OK. Could get a similar products from better merchants (e.g Barker Stonehouse offer much better service!)

United Kingdom | 06 July 2023We placed our order on 8 March online, and the system accepted our address for delivery. Then two days later we were told that Darlings won't deliver to the Isle of Wight where we live. a) Nearly all companies nowadays will deliver to the Island, occasionally adding a "Highlands and Islands" surcharge, b) in any case the fact that we live in this supposedly remote location (4 miles from the mainland) should have been picked up when we placed the order online. In order to obtain the goods we had to arrange delivery to a carrier in Southampton who brought it on to us at extra cost. Whereas Darlings website claims that the furniture will be unwrapped and installed by the deliverers, the interim people just left it with us fully wrapped. It transpired after unwrapping that to move it to the room where it is placed we had to remove the legs and then reattach in situ, which Darlings' own deliverers might have known but these people certainly didn't. To add insult to injury the piping on one corner of the sofa is slightly damaged, but I notice that on Darlings' own website it says that it is our responsibiliy to check the condition of the goods at the depot. This is a TOTALLY UNREASONABLE requirement, since it would mean that we would have to pay £40 to travel on the ferry to the depot and then unwrap the sofa, which would then have to be rewrapped before delivery to us. I am afraid that there has been so much annoyance with this order that I can't be bothered to pursue the issue of the damage any further, and will let my one star revue speak for itself.

United Kingdom | 30 June 2023I ordered the sofa on 28 March (Surrey store by telephone). I was informed at the point of purchase that the fabric was “in stock” and that the sofa would be ready in 8 weeks - 10 maximum. I paid for the sofa - believing what I was told about availability. It is now 14 weeks later and my sofa is still being produced - they only got the fabric this week - with delivery now apparently not before mid July…. First the sales representative did not actually place my order when I paid the deposit and instead called me 2 weeks later to ask if she should place the order - the answer was yes(!), why had they not placed the order already when I made the purchase on the phone - two weeks had been wasted. Then the fabric was not in stock and the fabric delay was extended 4 times. It was only this week that fabric finally came back in stock. I chose Darlings of Chelsea because of the promised time frame (8-10 weeks). The reality will (I hope) be 16 weeks. For now, all I have is an empty space in our new home. The sales representatives confirmed by email that they would consider a gesture of goodwill (when I asked for one). That was over two weeks ago and they have not offered me anything. I do not know if they are still considering it or if they are hoping I will forget. Others on here seem to have been offered discounts. I asked for details of the company head office to raise my complaint - however my request for contact details was ignored by the sales representatives. I am not someone who normally complains and have never been pushed to write an online review before now. Really disappointed. William Fletcher

There were lots of delays and I had not been kept informed at all on what was happening, I had to phone several times myself. I was promised a discount that hasn’t materialised! It finally arrived 6 weeks after promised. The sofa itself is amazing! Shame about the service.

United Kingdom | 27 June 2023Please DO NOT buy from here. Terrible experience and would rate zero stars if possible! The website looks chic and the showrooms are nice. We visited the showroom and it gave us (false) confidence that this wasn't a shabby Internet company. We ordered a Queen Anne chair, matching Stratford footstool and a cushion in the same navy velvet. Delivery was £75 so the total was over £2100. Given we loved the look of the products so much we decided it would be a worthwhile investment. It was not. We received no updates on delivery. I chased multiple times and kept getting promised an update and nothing. Finally we did get an email and delivery was due a few weeks later than initially promised. This was a pain but we were happy our lovely chair was finally on its way. The delivery company were useless. Promised delivery one day and didn't arrive nor let me know they were not coming. I called and chased and they hadn't even picked our chair up from the warehouse. Eventually it did arrive. The van it came it was so dirty and nothing was tied down. Just furniture bumping all into each other. To be fair the items were well wrapped. However when we removed the wrapping we were appalled. The chair was filthy, legs scratched and even the decorative studs were marked. One part of the velvet on the chair was in very poor condition and was badly finished - almost looking scuffed/bobbled. The footstool was in a slightly better condition. We called to complain and were offered initially just for a technician to come and "fix" the chair. I complained and then was offered £150 off. I found this insulting and asked to return it. Darlings of Chelsea then attempted to charge me £400 cancellation fee to return the awful items! After multiple calls and emails they agreed to pickup the items for free. Then the delivery company went to the wrong address! Finally all the items were removed (again in a filthy van). We were refunded but they retained the £75 delivery fee. So then of course I had to email again to get that back. Eventually the full amount was received. Don't waste your money or your time with this!

United Kingdom | 19 June 2023It started so well, and we were given a 6-8 week delivery time, however after 7 weeks I got in touch and was told there had been a delay. In the end we waited 12 weeks for our delivery, which I wouldn't have minded as much if this was the time scale we had signed up for, but to be told after we had paid our money and had been waiting for over a month it was very annoying, as the choice was to cancel the order and start over with another company. However the sofa is great, and they company that did finally deliver the sofa were really helpful. Bottom line is that Darlings of Chelsea need to be more honest/realistic with their delivery timings rather than reeling customers in with what felt like false promises.
