United States | 03 September 2023This is my first time buying from 1st dibs. Previously I'd made similar purchases on Chairish where I have been very pleased with products and customer service. However in this case I could not find the items I needed on Chairish so I tried 1st dibs. I ordered a pair of mid century modern nightstands. They were heavily damaged in transit - laminated wood was chipped and separating, a drawer was smashed, the veneer had multile scrtches. It was also clear that even before transit they were not in the condition represented by the seller - there were lots of chips and scratches to the the wooden legs and around the bottom of the cases way beyond what was visible in the photographs, extensive staining on the interior beyond what was shown in the photographs etc. This was all very disappointing, so I reached out to 1st dibs by reporting the issues through their online issue reporting form. I didn't hear back after 2 days, so I sent another request. Another 2 days went by and still no reponse so I tried again. I was worried I was being ignored, that 1st dibs could not or would not do anything to resolve the issues with my order. I then posted an earlier version of this review on trustpilot giving 1 star. The next day I got an email from 1stdibs marketplace trust team telling me that due to the extensive damage I would recevied a full refund. That refund has now completed so I'm updating this review to 3 stars. Not sure what I'm going to do with the damaged furniture but at least i dont have to pay for it. I would advise anyone buying furniture here to ask for white glove in-home delivery since it seems normal carriers are just not equipped to avoid significant damage. I would also advise to ask sellers to send detailed pics of all damage prior to purchasing.

Offer/purchase programming needs to be updated to provide greater flexibility for both the buyer and seller, Drop the white gloves shipping for any but the very expensive paintings as the packaging is little different than that for UPS, FEDEX, or DHL and delays both the pickup and delivery as they are done by small businesses.

J’ai chatté et envoyé des mails sur le site 1stDibs je n’ai reçu AUCUNE réponse !!! J’ai dû ouvrir un dossier de réclamation auprès de Paypal De plus aucune référence de ma commande sur mon compte 1stDibs…comme par hasard disparue du site … Plus jamais d’achats sur ce site !

They have taken over a month to organise a payment from a client to me The customer support is the worst I have ever encountered . Constantly saying another department has to resolve the issue and they can’t do it themselves Then nothing happens. No progress. Now I have a angry client and product sat waiting for shipment If you want a headache use first dibs

Most of the items on the 1st dibs platform are significantly cheaper on other platforms!! This platform is only a gimmick! Complete ripoff!

I called multiple times and they still have not resolved the issue. Don't buy anything through this site or you could lose your money as I did. Please, don't trust this Company. They are going to keep your money like scammers!

The buying experience is horrible, I bought a Goyard bag, discovered that I had to pay import duties for 600USD and when I decided to refuse shipment and return it, the seller never accepted the return. Although the site pledges support for buyers stating that all returns go through them and that hey will help ensure proper business transactions, my return request was never accepted by the seller and 1st Dibs never provided support.
