Isle of Man | 16 January 2020I bought an ex demo June 2016 Toyota Hilux in December 2016 complete with a manufacturer fitted Truckman S series hardtop and was immediately impressed with not only the vehicle but the canopy as well. Unfortunately the hardtop had gull windows which was not my first choice but in every other way the canopy met my requirements. However a couple of problems developed quite early relating to the canopy in that one of the hinges began to rusk excessively and all four of the gull window locks failed regularly despite frequent maintenance, in my opinion the torsion springs on these locks are not robust enough? I had naively thought the 5 year Hilux warranty applied to the Truckman in the absence of any documentation saying otherwise. However when the problems developed the (different) Toyota dealer servicing the vehicle made it clear the problems were Truckman's, not Toyota's. Unfortunately before I could contact Truckman some ill health took over which took me out of circulation for several months so by the time I did contact Truckman the canopy was outside their 3 year warranty which was disappointing. Therefore it is important to be aware that the Truckman warranty is shorter and more limited than most current pick up vehicle warranty's and act accordingly. However there is a good outcome in that Truckman in a kind "goodwill gesture" supplied a complete replacement set of Truckman S series canopy locks which were couriered to me with next day delivery. In particular many thanks to Sophie in their Customer Services Department. Overall I would give the product itself 4*'s and Truckman customer service 5*. With hindsight I should have asked the Toyota dealer supplying the vehicle and hardtop for the original Truckman paperwork including warranty and maintenance details notwithstanding they should been supplied without asking but c'est la vie.

United Kingdom | 05 December 2019I couldn't ask for more, I sent them a short email explaining the brake light they supplied me earlier on in the year had gone faulty and it was sorted out right away, new brake light unit sent out straight away, I wish more companies sorted out warranty items this fast.

United Kingdom | 04 December 2019Absolutely superb service from Truckman customer service. My luxury top for a Toyota Hilux mk8 developed a small crack in the trim, I was advised to send them some photos and their response was very quick. New lift up door has been dispatched to the local dealer for fitting. Excellent response to my problem and very professional and courteous phone and emails. Well done Truckman!!

United Kingdom | 02 December 2019We have a Truckman ‘L’ Series hard top which was purchased three years ago, we’ve been really happy with the top but have discovered it is ridiculously easy to break into. It was first broken into October 2018 then again in June this year and again last night (all tools taken!) on each occasion it was accessed by forcing the rear handle downwards. The description on Truckman’s website says “…The heavy-duty handle’s lock barrel is concealed under a protective cover – a stylish detail that helps prevent the ingress of dirt and helps maintain the integrity of the lock...” but it really is not, it’s so simple to break into with minimal downward force on the handle. On stripping the handle mechanism apart we discovered a small pin that simply snaps off with external pressure, it wouldn’t be as bad if it a least left the handle was rendered useless but it leaves the handle still working just without a lock so easy to gain access. On each a occasion we have contacted Truckman Customer Services only to receive what appears to be their stock answer “…I’m really sorry to hear about your issues, unfortunately, we only offer one type of handle for our tops so wouldn’t be able to provide anything different to what you already have…” it’s so frustrating as the actual tops are good. On reading other reviews it seems we've not been the only people experiencing this issue?

United Kingdom | 20 November 2019Just received my Ford Ranger back from Ford where they did a water ingress check on the Truckman top which as the Manager stated is the worse one he has ever seen, its like a colander. Water coming in from windows front and sides, all around the seal and through several bolts on the top of the box, hinge bolts and rail bolts. I used to keep my car in my carport and I hardly used the car from new, but now I have demolished the carport and garage as I am building a new garage...hence my car was out in the rain and weather. I wondered why every time I opened the back of my car water would pour out. I now park my car with the front wheels raised on concrete blocks so the water can drain from the back of my car.

Italy | 11 November 2019In response to your reply to contact Mark Stidston, I don't really see the point now. I believe it was Mark who offered to waiver the cost of delivery. Poor sales marketing..... I contacted 4x4 accessories & tyres Ltd on Friday, ordered and paid for a Pro Form Tonneau cover and it was delivered today !!!!! much better service and cheaper !!! Take note Truckman, you could learn a lot from this company

Ireland | 20 October 2019Purchased Single cab Truckman top Big problems with rear door of Truckman Canopy This is my second Truckman top have had same problem with both Locking mechanism is very light and can be broken into in 60 seconds or less Costs for Parts for repair are simply shocking Truckman need to improve security for these otherwise excellent products and improve quality of same I was not offered Warranty or discount for repair parts when I contacted Truckman Uk Rear door security needs to be very much improved Do not put valuables in rear canopy Truckman advertising these as commercial hard tops or canopies they can be opened in less than 60seconds no protection for your expensive tools Truckman can supply a fiberglass back door but you have to also buy heavier struts approx €500including door . This back door can be opened just as quickly as one with window Locking mechanism is a light flintstones type effort with exposed shooting bolts . It’s Time Truckman Uk had more respect for its loyal following of clients and made more of an effort or offered proper upgrade kit to secure rear door and make it fit for purpose but at the very least support clients in the mean time by offering reasonable alternative kits to upgrade unsuitable rear door A little fair play would go a long way Haven’t received any from Truckman Uk and it’s likely any new purchasers will get the same treatment It’s very sad really because the shell itself is robust and does its job Buyer beware Truck man replied by asking me to get back to their customer service dept I had already been onto them before other alternatives no more secure and costs were crazy It is now mid January 2020 I have contacted truckman on a no of occasions and received no satisfaction my truckman top has had heavy trailer lugs installed with locks going through them to ensure security of work equipment inside in mean time while I await serious response from truckman I have another Ford ranger single cab that requires a utility canopy again a regular cab 2016 ford ranger I wondered if anybody had trouble with utility model door security or if utility model has better locking mechanism Don’t want same unresolved issue again Does any other company do 3 door utility canopy for single cab ranger

United Kingdom | 16 October 2019Truckman Canopy Failure L200 Reported a glass failure on the Truckman rear glass window that failed while driving on smooth road at the top of the window making the rear hinges to lift out of glass. Reported to Truckman who just kept saying that glass isn't covered. I sent photos of the brackets holding glass which were missing the rubber washers between the glass and the bolt. Two out of three were missing third was starting signs of perishing less than a year old! Waiting for some response due to Manufacture issue but not impressed so far! Update. In response to your reply, you have offered free postage of a new rear door £450. Thanks for nothing. We have been made aware this is not an isolated incident and is quite common on your product. Our insurance company has highlighted this and the repairers have confirmed your product is a cheap import from Taiwan. There should be no metal bolts touching the glass but you have confirmed this is normal. Perhaps if you are honest enough you can confirm how many replacement rear windows you supply annually. I will check how many have been replaced by contacting the likes of Autoglass. We will gather the necessary and make a claim via the small claims court.

United Kingdom | 30 September 2019Truckman s "luxury" hardtop. Fine for about a year whereupon water started pouring in through a roof rail mounting point. I have never used or touched the roof rails. Telecon with "customer services" who say it isn't meant to be waterproof, only weatherproof. What a load of semantic nonsense. Clearly something has deteriorated in the first year. I was invited to submit a warranty claim if i spent ages with a hose and a camera and then emailed them to prove that it does leak (because clearly I could well be lying and seeking to get some free sealant!?) Not impressed. Symptomatic of the dreadful service in so many places.

United Kingdom | 03 September 2019Need a nut and bolt for the canopy glass as one fell off (that shouldn't happen and is probably a fault on the hardtop!). Anyway, found it on Truckman website. £4.08. Hmm, overpriced for tiny plastic/rubber thing. However, here is the stinger. To send from a UK mainland to UK mainland = almost £14!!!! So £19 for the tiniest replacement part available. No thanks, I'd rather go without. Ridiculous.

United Kingdom | 13 August 2019Lost a mushroom nut from the outside of the side window hinge of my canopy over the weekend. Basically it's a nut (secures a bolt) moulded into a piece of plastic. Called to get a replacement which I expected to be overpriced as is so often the way of bespoke parts. Wasn't expecting it to be over £4.00 though. Swallowed hard, accepted my kicking and decided to hand it over, till i found out the postage. Was asked for £11.00 to send it registered post. ARE YOU MENTAL! Only then was I told of the poor mans option of £7.00. It is the size and weight of HeeHaw. A total outrage. Fortunately a friendly owners site has sorted my issue for nothing. I honestly cant recall a more ridiculous mark up on a service or part in my 50 plus years. Have a word with yourself truckman.

United Kingdom | 01 August 2019Can not rate them highly enough! Contacted them as purchased a 16 month old truck with a truckman top. Had a few issues with it and they were willing to sort out all the issues under warranty. Booked a date and time drove truck across to them and was greeted with very friendly professional people. All work explained by Paul, said 3 hours not far off that! I can not fault them, well done guys and thank you very much!

United Kingdom | 18 July 2019Absolutely disgusted with the poor quality. 1 star is 1 more than I’d like to give this company. I purchased a new VW Amarok and had a Truckman Grand Hard top fitted to it. Basically after one month I noticed the side window was catching and had flaked the paint off, upon further inspection found it was in fact due to the hinges on the right side being fitted in the wrong place, also the back window was lop sided. After speaking with Truckman they agreed to send a new one, when it arrived at VW we could see straight away that it was the exact same, after measuring we found the hinges to be have been positioned 10mm lower on the RH side. I spoke with Truckman again only to be told it can’t be as it was checked before it was sent (maybe the delivery fairies did it in transport) now I am quite handy with a steel rule given I am an engineer, myself and 3 mechanics from VW all agreed it was wrong, also the window sat too far in which was another issue, possibly a mould issue, the back window catches both sides which it didn’t on the other one I had. I sent all the pictures to Truckman and the response was it was fine when it left I responded can I see the pictures of it before it left but they only had a tick sheet, however I have pictures which speak a thousand words, basically because the tick sheet says it’s fine I have to live with it I was also told that when checked they deemed it to be commercially acceptable, anyway if they are knocking that kind of work out I would highly advise to avoid this company as the quality of work is so poor they simply cannot get it right after several attempts and checks, the attitude is terrible and the paint on the canopies is very poor. If I could add the pictures I guarantee that you would not purchase one of these in fear it may arrive the same as the two I had sent. To add to the response, you did not try to recitify at all, I was told it was for a commercial vehicle and it was deemed commercially acceptable, this is not trying to rectify the issues this is your way of saying you wont do anything to fix, yes I did refuse the refund as I cannot live without a back on the vehicle, I drove straight home and stripped out the window and redrilled the holes for the hinges, please get in touch if you would like details on where to drill the correct holes, I also had to pack out the bottom hinge so the glass sits flush with the body of the canopy. Another note I forgot to add was that the central locking stopped working on my first canopy which I also repaired myself. I see most the good reviews are from customer service which up until the second canopy arrived faulty and Sophie couldn't accept the fact it was sent like this I would have said the same, however she turned quite aggressive and even accused me of calling her a lier which I did no such thing, I merely stated it was not correct and arrived like that as she said she checked the canopy herself but we all agreed it cant have been unless the delivery driver decided to redrill the holes in the wrong place. Shoddy work and even worse service in my opinion. The question is, why is the customer service having to be used so much, maybe this is something you need to take up with QC.

Isle of Man | 18 July 2019I would just like to give a word of praise regarding one if your employees. I recently had a canopy fitted on a new Nissan Navara and unfortunately one of the sliding window clips came loose. I contacted your company and I have to say the level of service I have received has been excellent and the problem resolved. It was a relatively minor issue and things do go wrong but it is how they are sorted out that counts. The speed of reply to e mail conversations was very quick and the resolution was also as speedy. I would particularly like to single out one particular person who dealt with my query as she was excellent, her name being Sophie Haynes, and I would be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to her? Thank you very much Cheers Marc

United Kingdom | 15 July 2019Review is for a RS canopy for Hilux Active with ladder rack. Truckman have built the most attractive canopy for this model and being hand built to order it is a quality product, in addition they can colour code the canopy. Fitting was easy, detailed instructions were excellent for cutting the steel bar that provides a seal. Phone support and service for the order was great, Truckman were aware I needed the canopy in a hurry and they delivered ahead of schedule. Very happy with the product and service, great to support British manufacturing.

United Kingdom | 06 June 2019Wind deflectors purchased, fitted & work really well, no draughts, fresh air & look good too. Best of all, though, was the buying experience. Your receptionist was really pleasant & attentive, (especially in offering coffee, I must have looked in need!), Bob was at lunch when I initially arrived but another guy jumped in to try & help but then Bob appeared, probably with indigestion & was just great. He obviously had better things to do than just sell me the deflectors, the sale of which wouldn't make a huge difference to your bank balance but the time taken & service approach was just as good as if I'd spent thousands. MANY thanks, Bob. Thanks to all your team,
