I went on 2 tours with mountain guides, lava caves and The Golden Circle tour. I loved how small the tour was both times there were only 4-5 people. Both my guides we excellent! Max was my guide for the lava caves, he was so nice and full of information about iceland and the lava caves. Jon was my guide for the golden circle and he also told us a lot about the history of Iceland. The golden circle tour I had booked was cancelled due to weather but they rebooked me for the next day. No problems there! I would book through them again in a heart beat!

I really enjoyed my trip, I was lucky enough to be in a really small group and had great weather. Thora our guide was amazing, she was very knowledgeable about the country, its folklore, geology and people. Saw a variety of Icelands amazing natural wonders.

Exploring the Wilderness - Part 1-2 - IMG384 (7 days) + In the Shadow of Vatnajökull - IMG49 (5 days) I took this tour this summer and I was pleasantly surprised of a number of things. IMG is a wonderfully organized company that has a lot of experience in this sort of things so, unless nature chooses differently everything that is in the description on the website is true. The chances of having bad surprises is I think very small. The 7 day tour is very fun and fit people of a very large age bracket should be confortable here. (The 1st hike on the 1st day is definitely the steepest one, so, If you make it, you’ll have no problem with the rest of the trip. Our guide was, friendly, knowledgeable, and really adapted well to the group, often offering choices in term of routes (usually offering the possibility to make each hike a little longer if we felt like it.) The food delivered for us to the hut mostly consisted of fresh food. Which was a very nice surprise as I expected more dry and processed stuff. The guide was also a terrific cook. I will not spend to much time describing landscapes as no word can really give Iceland justice. The 5 days backpacking tour was more challenging physically and felt more rugged. Our guide was really helpful and would always care a great deal of the most tired ones. Often instructing in ways the rest of the group could help. It was very educating. The landscapes of the area are breathtaking. The huts are really good, the atmosphere was great and I really was sad when it was over. If you want to take this backpacking trip with IMG I recommend that you really expect it to be though in some places, scree slopes, snow and mud, some days are quite long and depending on the weather conditions can be made longer. If you're fit and really like hiking you WILL have fun This post is a copy of the rating I already gave on Trip Advisor.

I had a wonderful day. The pickup was right on time, there was quite some personal attention. Both the caves and the hot-springs were something special. I would really recommend this tour and organization!

I highly recommend this company! We had a Glacier Hike booked and we had the guide all to ourselves. Kris was very knowledgeable about glaciers, hiking, Iceland and much more. We felt safe and comfortable with them and would definitely visit them again. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

This past July , a friend and I decided to hike in Iceland. We chose Icelandic Mountain guides as their website as the most comprehensive and appeared to be the most professional. We were not disapointed. The trip was excellent, well organized and a lot of fun. Our guide was knowledgeable and made the safety and comfort of our group a top priority. I have no hesitation in recommending Icelandic Mountain guides.

It's unusual these days to find a top-notch ecotourism activity that does not explicitly market itself as such. That's just proof that it's the real deal. Researched all the outfitters and this group is the best in terms of safety and environmental savvy, as well as customer satisfaction. Our Solheimajokull glacier hike was tailored just for our group's agility level and interests. Our experienced and personable guide ('Trig') explained each landscape feature, helped us sample refreshing glacier water, asked engaging questions and even got my shy 14 year old daughter to talk to him. We were shown where and how to walk (and more importantly where not to, to preserve fragile vegetation) and given an understanding of how recent warming trends have affected the glacier. It was a far more personal and informative tour than the one we took in New Zealand. The highlight of our week in Iceland by a large measure.

Everything about booking our multi-day trip was easy, which sometimes makes me nervous for how the experience will be. They were super accommodating and once we got to Iceland things could not have worked better! Our guides were awesome as well...they were only surpassed by the sheer beauty we experienced hiking. I would highly recommend them for any adventure in Iceland. In fact I'll use them again when I return to go on the adventures I just could not fit in this time!

We had a good time doing the Blue Ice Experience. Our guide, whose name I didn't catch, was excellent. He was very friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. What surprised us a bit was that we weren't walking very much during the 2 hours. We didn't go very far out onto the ice. It was a lot of standing around. I really wouldn't recommend this to anyone in reasonable shape - I would go for the 4-hour trek instead.

My husband and I did the highest peek with Icelandic Mountain Guides. It is definitely a challenging hike to only be attempted if you are in good shape. The hike up to the top seemed to take forever, but we took many breaks. I personally was not a fan of being tied to the rope but it was nessisary for safety. On our way up a man from out group but on another line fell in a crevice. The guides were able to get him out safely and we continued. When we got to the top it was beautiful. We stayed at the top for the perfect amount of time. As we started to get cold we started back. With the unpredictable weather in Iceland, rain was approaching and the whole trip down was miserable. Due to the weather the guides pushed us to to keep moving and we had very few rests on the way down. I also found my self and my short legs, sinking in to the snow, falling often by the rope pulling me ahead. I understood why we were pushing it to get down but I wish we could have slowed down a little. It took us 12 hours in total including the crevice rescue to summit and return to the bus. It was an amazing experience and I wonder if I would gave enjoyed it better earlier in the season when the snow was still hard. The slushy yucky knee deep snow was miserable.

I would definitely recommend this hike to anyone who is in halfway decent shape. Fairly long hikes (up to 10 miles/day), but not strenuous. Stunning views that seem to change at every turn. Fantastic guide, good sleeping conditions (considering you are in the middle of nowhere) and good food. Highly recommended. Most people in our group did the 5 day hike. I would recommend extending this and doing the last two days... you'll never see waterfalls like this again.

It was a great experience to walk on a glacier were the snow isn't always white. Our guide was capable, well-informed and concerned of safety. We have learned a lot in a friendly atmosphere and it is a great experience to do and one of the things you should do in Iceland.

I had a blast with our guide Nathaniel - he was so informative, clearly passionate about what he does, prompt, helpful, and truly made my visit to a thermal river and a lava cave one of a kind.
