United States | 31 December 2014I am a rock climbing guide myself, and we booked a day of ice climbing with these guys. They gave us an incredible day of climbing that I will never forget. They set the standard for what other guides should strive for. I would for sure give them my business again.

United States | 31 December 2014We arranged a 10 day trip through Icelandic Mountain Guides that included a six day backpacking trip, two days of side adventures, and two days in Reykjavic. They were very accommodating, arranging everything from lodging on our side days to locations and travel on our backpacking. When we had to cut out backpacking days short by two, they arranged bus transportation for us to our final destination. Our guide Selma was the best. We would use her again any time. Her knowledge of the country as well as her personality made the trip that much more enjoyable. Dagny was super when it came to working with me via email to get this trip sorted out.

Poland | 31 December 2014Having chosen Blue Ice Experience we spent wonderful time on iceberg and we used our short time we could be there very effectively. It is an experience we will remember for a long time - highly recommended!

Italy | 31 December 2014We did the Fimmvorduhàls trekking in July. I recommend being very well trained ;the hike is quite tough and the weather can change all of a sudden and become really miserable. Despite of the the very scarce visibility we had on the top and of the unceasing icy rain, our guide, Solveig ,brought us to Thorsmork all safe and sound, always trying to cheer us up and support us in any possible way. She was really great and I think we'll always remember her, because it was such an experience! This hike really pushes you to the limits, but I would recommend it to anyone. We were very happy of Icelandic Mountain guides. I could never think of doing such a hike without them!

United Kingdom | 31 December 2014Really very good tour. We walked on the glacier and our guide was professional, helpful, informative and funny. We had our two children with us - 13 and 9 years old - and they lived it too. Highly recommended.

Sweden | 31 December 2014Well, it was my first hiking trip ever and maybe I went a little overboard with Iceland! But it was great fun and our guide was very experienced and friendly. He even saved my life a few times ;-) but that's another story. We had a good time and it is a memory for life. I would absolutely recommend Icelandic Mountain Guides!

United States | 29 December 2014Overall, my three children (ages 27, 23, and 11) and I had a great time with the Icelandic Mountain Guides. There were a couple of slight drawbacks, though. Because the glacier had receded and wasn't safe at the original point where we were scheduled to climb on it, we had to hike farther than expected. It would have been good to know that ahead of time. We also happened to be with a group of long-legged, athletic people, so the hike to the glacier was too fast-paced for us. (We were tired from a three-hour hike the day before.) The group would occasionally wait for us to catch up, but, as soon as we did, they would immediately take off again, so we never had a chance to rest. We couldn't really understand why we had to hike so quickly to the glacier. It would be better to be more accommodating to the slower members in the group. Once we got to the glacier, things went well. The guides were knowledgeable and pleasant, and it was all an unforgettable experience, especially drinking the melted glacial water. The hike back was at a better pace, and we stopped to pick blueberries and crowberries along the way. Despite the few comments above, we would do it all again in a heartbeat. It is one of our best memories of our visit to Iceland.

United Kingdom | 28 December 2014We went on the Fimmvorduhals Volcano Hike in August 2014. The hike was fantastic and extremely interesting and the views were breathtaking. Our tour guide was friendly and informative and we felt safe in his care whilst on the hike. Even though it's rather pricey I would definately recommend this hike. We had considered doing the hike ourselves but were glad we chose to do it with a guide who could answer all our questions, who knew how to safely tackle the tricky bits and so that we didn't have any worries about getting to the end point before the last public buses. We chose the option to get picked up from our hotel and we were disappointed with this service. We assumed that if you get picked up from your hotel, that you then get dropped back off there afterwards. Luckily I asked as I realised no one was being dropped off at hotels and found out just in time that everyone just gets dropped off back in the centre of Reykjavik even if their hotel is out of town. The bus driver was kind when I inquired and as he was taking a route near our hotel he dropped us off on the main road about 5 minutes walk from our hotel. If I hadn't realised what was going on, it would have been a disaster for us as it was around midnight, we had no money on us as we didn't need it for the tour and it would have been a LONG walk back to the hotel especially after an 11 hour hike. We also had issues whilst we were being collected for the tour. They were late to collect us and we had to phone a few times to find out what was going on. We finally got picked up by a van which drove for about 3 minutes then we were put on to a coach which was headed for Jokulsarlon. We were worried for a while that we had been put on the wrong bus. Communication regarding transportation needs to be improved, we would have felt a lot happier if we had been told what was going on when being put on the coach and I really think it needs to be made clear that hotel collection does not include hotel drop off at the end. In summary everything was great except transportation. I would definately use this company again however I might make my own transportation arrangements.

Australia | 26 December 2014I took the Summer Package with Icelandic Mountain guides in September 2014 and had a fantastic time. The pacakage included four nights stay in Kex Hostel (a great hostel, cool vibe, good location etc), whale watching with Elders (another good company, respectful of the wildlife they seek and very knowledgable), and day trips 'Walk through fire and ice' and 'Super jeep Hekla and Landmannalauger'. Walk Through Fire and Ice with Dóri was an excellent experience, Dóri is a really personable guy and fun guide. Walking through the valley to see the mudpools and steam vents then soaking in a natural hot spring was a nice start to the day followed by a sneaky trip to some amazing waterfalls and an excellent bakery on the way to the glacier. The glacier walk was amazing! I was a bit disappointed that our time on the ice was cut short (through no fault of the company or guide) but it was an amazing experience nonetheless. The SuperJeep tour with Stefan was alot of fun; the drive up Hekla Volcano was a fun experience made more so by the previous night's snow fall (the first for the season and a novel experience for an Australian) and Stefan is a knowledgable and interesting guide. Landmannalauger is a beautiful place and it's most defiantly worth having a walk around to see the lava fields before immersing yourself in the hot spring. In all my experience with Icelandic Mountain Guides and Icelandic Rovers was excellent and I highly recommend them - great activities and experiences in small groups with fantastic guides.

Australia | 23 December 2014I did a lot of research before selecting the right hiking trail for me. I'm so glad I did, because I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Our Mountain Guide Thora and support driver Sigi were incredibly professional throughout the whole hike. However also knew how to encourage the group to have a good time. The group we had though was a great bunch of people who really got along and became great friends. We're all planning on doing another hike with Thora in Greenland. Thanks for the great experience.

United Kingdom | 20 December 2014I loved this hike - the amount of walking per day was perfect for me and the scenery was incredible and varied. Bathing in a hot spring on the first day was a highlight. The tour company were really helpful when the airline lost my luggage. They also did their best to cater for my vegan/sugar free diet which was great. The other people on the tour were lovely. I would definitely use this tour company again
