I ordered a lobster for my wife’s birthday meal and when I cooked it the meat disintegrated, it was gritty and had absolutely no flavour. It’s completely overpriced. I’ve had better quality fish from Lidl. Do yourself a favour and support your local fishmonger, not these crooks.

United Kingdom | 09 August 2023DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!! First time I’ve used them. Completely useless. Sent me the wrong order. Customer Service made it MY PROBLEM telling me I should try and give the Herring to friends or family. We’re going away tomorrow with a case of Herring sat in a box expected to dispose of it ourselves, going rancid in our bin over the next 2 weeks. I’ll NEVER order from this company again. Lesson learnt! Irony is they sent an automated message from the CEO asking what they can do to improve their service. I’ve sent you an email fella!!

I have a screenshot of our chat so it’s the proof that they scam people with poor quality products and fake customer service.

I can only judge by my personal experience and in all honesty my first order has gone perfectly. I ordered 10kg of whelks, they arrived frozen, exactly when I was advised I would get delivery and packaging perfect. So far am really happy and certainly plan to order from them again

United Kingdom | 29 July 2023The moules mariniere kit was very poor, tasteless mussels, far too much garlic and too little white wine for the sauce. My main complaint is that I have tried to leave a review on The Fish Society’s website but it is obviously being deleted, which calls into question the general veracity of the reviews on that site.

United Kingdom | 29 July 2023The website isn’t easy to use for a new customer. Didn’t realise I could choose a specific size of lobster as the ‘more options’ choice is very small. So ended up with smaller/ less lobster than needed. They arrived with all the legs and claw’s having fallen off. I was asked to send a photo through, but no response. The mussels were precooked even though it doesn’t specify that on the information. I had to go and buy some elsewhere. The lady on the end of the phone was belligerent and judgemental! I was inundated with marketing emails within minutes of making my order. Just tasted the ‘cooked’ mussels. Lots of grit and very poor quality and flavour. Have thrown most of them away as they bear no comparison to live mussels!

United Kingdom | 25 June 2023I placed a large order but all the fish came de-frosted, and when I complained via email got a phone call from someone saying they are the founder of Fish Society and that as long as the fish is cold to the touch it's ok to re-freeze (even though this may result in a change in taste and texture) but this is utter non-sense - especially at the premium price point you can ensure you put enough ice in the box in order for the fish to keep frozen! No excuses. I am never ordering from Fish Society again. Absolutely appalling!

United Kingdom | 26 May 2023Hi Just received my order of frozen Sashimi. Problem is it has all de-frosted in transport. Enclosed leaflet and speaking to company they say as long as the fish is cold to the touch then it can be re-frozen. Not sure if this is correct but just be aware that if you order frozen fish from this company it's likely to arrive de-frosted

United Kingdom | 23 May 2023Good company for raw fish, but I suggest you avoid the pre-prepared dishes as their palate is a heavy one. Just tried the Tempura Prawns and the excessive use of garlic powder in the batter rendered them inedible.

United Kingdom | 16 May 2023I ordered some prawns recently and they arrived pink like they had already been defrosted and did not look anything like the prawns in the photo, not to mention their products are overpriced. I called and spoke to someone and they wanted to me to send them a photo as proof. Horrible customer service. I will not be shopping with The Fish Society again, I can find better prawns at the supermarket.

United Kingdom | 27 April 2023I ordered a pair of kippers, some fishcakes and 2 large battered cod, Delivery was on time and well packaged, . The kippers were lovely, very tasty, lovely and smokey and fresh tasting, The fish cakes were ok, not very flavourful, and laden with too much mash. The cod steaks looked the part, very large, and nice and thick, but had absolutely no taste, i asked my son to try one ,and he said the same, i could have got better at Aldi for a third of the price. I did respond to an email from the Fish Society asking for feedback, and have heard nothing back from them

Their marketing is superb in content; however they send so many email offers we’ve got into the habit of just deleting them most days. We’ve had a bit of a mixed experience with the products - some have been excellent and others (in our opinion) not living up to their description; a few examples below:- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️North Atlantic peeled prawns, superb (good size and firm texture, lovely flavour). 😱Kippers, not so good (far, far too salty, tough - no matter how you cook them and I’ve tried three times). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Fish pie, very good (reasonable amount of recognisable fish, lovely flavour. Just a little large for one and too small for two) ⭐️⭐️⭐️fresh white crab claw meat, good… ( good texture and flavour however there is just a little too much water and we’ve had shell/cartilage in two tubs. I know shell is an occasional issue but should not be as much as we’ve experienced) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Coquille Saint Jacques. Excellent (generous portion, beautiful flavour. We could become addicted!). ⭐️⭐️ Tempura Battered Prawns, not so good ( too ‘rubbery’). As an observation given most Fish Society prices are relatively high I’m not sure some of the products are particularly good value for money and the almost daily ‘special offers’ are too frequent to bother with. We’ll continue to buy however we’re becoming much more selective.
