Disappointed with the fish quality and size. Very overpriced and underwhelming. Order did arrive on time though!

Nice fish, appalling customer service. Ordered for delivery for 5th of December didn’t arrive called customer service to rearrange for the 7th, no issue. Received texts during the night from ”Alastair” asking to change delivery date to 13th as my order had not arrived (7th). After brief conversation that I had already rearranged for the 7th thought everything ok. Notified on the 6th that my order would not arrive on the 7th. Contacted “Alastair”, possibly the rudest person in the world who just wanted to cancel the order to make his life easier. Blaming mail strikes when you agree alternative dates does not work. Order finally delivered 14th luckily with enough time to prep for Christmas as it was salmon to be cured and smoked. Beware of Alastair.

Absolutely awful. Ordered a Lobster and prawns for New Year’s Eve, they delivered the prawns today and not the lobster. I received an email about 6 hours after delivery to say that they cannot send me a lobster? Shocking service avoid at all costs

Way back in October I placed and order, including lobsters and scallops, with the Fish Society for delivery on 22 December 2022. The idea that these frozen items would thaw out and be used for Christmas Eve Dinner. A week before I had an email from the courier company to the effect that they would deliver these frozen items a whole week before the due date... simply impossible for us... freezer stocked to the gunnels, neighbours due to be away for Christmas and so no extra freezer capacity there. I tried with the courier to have the order held back until the 22 December.... no luck. I emailed the Fish Society and called them when they opened at 8.00am the following morning... hoping that they would reschedule the delivery for a week to when I had asked for it. I found the response on the phone from a director... very aggressive... they were "between a rock and a hard place; couriers had been capped and anyway the food was frozen and somebody should have contacted me anyway." When I quietly and politely explained that the meal was for an 70-year-old cancer patient, my freezers were full and I'd had no notification from the Fish Society... I was accused of coming "heavy" the order was cancelled and that was the last I heard from the director that I had been speaking to! At least he didn't shout "Bah Humbug!" down the phone. And what was "heavy?" Well I explained that this particular food was at the request of a 70-year-old who had just gone through the horrendous experience of a serious cancer scare and who hadn't expected to be able to manage much else at Christmas. I had hoped that if I was nice to the Fish Society they might show a little compassion and there might be some movement. But there wasn't a hint of empathy, a word of sympathy or even an apology... only concern about profit and self-interest. What sort of person acts in that way...at Christmas? Even Ebenezer Scrooge turned out all-right at the end! I thought that the very least that this director could do was to promise to rearrange a delivery of what was still available on the day that I'd asked for it. I did get an email from someone else... order cancelled... refund arranged. Before that happened I'd already placed a new order with an on-line fish monger in Cornwall... they didn't let me down! While I've every sympathy with any supplier having challenging times in the midst of delivery problems, BUT... and it's a very big BUT! If pre-Christmas delivery was such a problem why did the Fish Society email me about 16 times in the previous six days advertising fish and seafood for Christmas delivery? Why was I able to go on their site that day and place a phantom order for exactly the same lobsters for delivery on exactly the same day as my original order had been booked? In short... was the Fish Society chucking out Christmas orders early so that they could sell, sell, sell on the basis that those new last-minute orders would be delivered for Christmas? Is that why the Fish Society left me between a "rock and a hard-place" of having to find a new trustworthy supplier only days before Christmas. Another director phoned me days later... he was pleasant and wondered why my original delivery was sitting on his desk... it was the case that the right hand didn't seem to know what the left hand was doing... but it was the same story. Perhaps he was a bit shocked when I told him that a new supplier now had my order. And yes!... a reliable supplier from Cornwall provided the top-quality lobster and scallops in the shell that I needed on the day I wanted... fresh not frozen... we had a wonderful meal on Christmas Eve... and it made one elderly gent very, very, very happy!

Second year of using The Fish Society. It says on their site they use DPD but my delivery was via FedEx. I got a message on the day of delivery (yesterday) to say they couldn't deliver even though on my delivery instructions i had said to leave it in the porch. On checking with my Father he confirmed that he was home and there was no Fedex delivery at the time stated (confirmed by the door bell camera). So its quite clear FexEx couldnt be bothered to deliver frozen food on the day it needed to be delivered. It arrived today and the whole delivery had defrosted. So can't be used for boxing day. I therefore have to spend more money on something else. No one is picking up at The Fish Society and there is no email address. I'm not blaming the Fish Society but they need to sort out their delivery companies as they have lost my business. Looks like I'm not the only one having this issue.

I ordered a seafood platter which arrived a whole day late.On arrival most of the items had started to defrost so naturally I called to discuss . All I was looking for was a reasonable customer service. Never in all my years of dealing with a company was I made to feel like was bothering them. The ‘owner’ of the company answered the call and rudely launched in to a rant about how he knows fish and told me that he had been in business for 25 years doing this and defrosted fish could be refrozen and that there was nothing they could do about transit issues ! I politely ended the call as clearly was getting nowhere. I will never use them again due to the condescending manner of this man and will go back to Donald Russell online where the service is second to none.

Order was very well packaged and sent promptly, lots of clear communication and delivery was spot on. However, the lobster (pre-cooked frozen Canadian) was very salty and disappointing in both texture and flavour. Live native is probably the only way to go. Was better in a thermidor style version which disguised the texture, but was still overly salty. Haven't had the smoked salmon yet. Fingers crossed for that. Also wouldn't order again as the packaging required to deliver still fish frozen was effective but included too much plastic/single use disposable stuff for me to be comfortable with - netting on the individual lobsters, bubblewrap, plastic straps on the box, freezing blocks etc. The heavy duty cardboard box is recyclable though.

Delivery failed, delayed now by 24 hours. Also, I can’t be here so I cannot vouch for its freshness, or howdefrosted it will be. It includes lobster, so not a cheap purchase. Have heard nothing from customer service when I contacted them. If DPD keep letting you down, then why don’t you change courier.?

All looks good. Very quick delivery. Not yet sampled. Nearly didn’t get the parcel as the Courier DPD left it on the steps outside the house, even though the door was open. any passerby could have just picked it up.
