United Kingdom | 06 January 2023In November 2022, we received a renewal notice from Vetsure which indicated that our premium would increase by 32%. Also, as our cat had now reached the age of 8 years, we would be required to contribute 15% of any future claim in addition to the excess on the policy. When we queried this, Vetsure advised us that the large increase in premium was due to our cat now being 8 years old. We have been with Vetsure for 6 years and have always accepted that we would have to contribute 15% of any claim at the appropriate time and, of course, the policy excess, as we were made aware of these from the outset. What we had never been made aware of before receiving the renewal notice is that there would be a large increase in premium once our cat became 8 years old. We understood that the condition concerning the 15% contribution was included in the policy wording to reflect the fact that a cat had reached a certain age (8 years). Our policy is a lifetime one and we took great pains when deciding whether to insure with Vetsure to check with them that there would be no "surprise" premium increases year on year. Until now, this has been the case as the yearly increases have been quite reasonable. We would add that we have only ever submitted one small claim which resulted in a payment of approximately £100. We originally chose Vetsure even though they were significantly more expensive than most of their competitors but we are now beginning to think that we made the wrong choice.

United Kingdom | 21 December 2022It was so easy signing up Rasta to Vetsure and I feel confident that if the worst happened and I had to use Vetsure to help with vet bills, they would be on Ratsa's side and support with the financial help that would be needed. I also trust Vetsure as Ratsa's vet recommended them to me and I value their advice. If needed I also know that I would not have to pay the vet up front and claim my money back afterwards, as Vetsure pay the vet directly. Brilliant! Reasonable pricing which is competitive to rival insurers. Great that they work In partnership with our vets to so can do direct claims for larger or emergency unexpected claims. Only downside is they won't cover for pre existing illnesses/injuries or allow transfers or any conditions from previous insurance coverage. I was previously with animal friends but left to use Vetsure as they co partner with my vet but now all my claims from animal friends are considered pre existing to vetsure where as animal friends would have continued to except my claims and cover the costs of my pets condition. My pets have always been insured it's just a shame if you want to change companies you lose the cover for pre existing claims.
