I was made a reasonable offer for my CRV and decided to exchange it for a new one. I was impressed with the way Kimberley made the whole process run smoothly and was particularly grateful to her for inputting my phone directory and demonstrating some other updated features. Her very approachable manner and good communication skills are a great asset to John Banks.

From my very first point of contact, with the amazing Helena Saunders, through my many questions & emails, they have been absolutely first rate. Helpful, efficient, kind and knowledgeable, I really cannot fault the level of service I received, it is a rare thing these days. Such a refreshing change to deal with a company who genuinely care about the service they give, everything has been absolutely spot on. Lastly, a big shout out to Jules who delivered our Suzuki Vitara for us, travelling in vile weather from Suffolk to Devon, he was also fantastic, kept us informed a few times of his ETA en route, was really friendly and courteous, answered our questions on delivery, a really nice chap, thank you. When I am next looking for a new car, John Banks Group will without doubt be my first port of call, your staff are an absolute credit to you. Oh, and the car is fabulous too!

He was really pleasant and helpful and even called me after the weekend to see how I was getting on with the car and if there was anything I wasn’t sure of to give him a call. Excellent service, would highly recommend.

The car was immaculate, and we love it. Darren gave us a fair price on our trade in. I loved the paperless documentation process which really made things so much easier.

United Kingdom | 03 October 2022UPDATE OCTOBER 2023 At Mr Evans suggestion I referred my complaint to the "Motor Ombudsman", and am pleased to confirm that they have "UPHELD" my complaint. In short they found that the advertising presented by John Banks was indeed misleading (as I presented) and asked they re-word it. Furthermore, they found that "it would be appropriate for John Banks to provide compensation..." in my case. The Motor Ombudsman also considered that John Banks did not adequately respond to my complaint. I await the compensation suggested by the Motor Ombudsman, that of course John Banks have not yet contacted me about. I am assuming they will now be keen to settle this matter.... This outcome only further highlights that: John Banks were wrong - and presented misleading advertising. John Banks did not deal with my complaint properly (including absolutely failing to follow their own complaints process at the time). John Banks have not been quick to settle the matter - despite the fact it was their Mr Evans that suggested I refer the matter to their ombudsman. I will leave you to consider all of this, coupled with the below, before taking a view on whether you do business with John Banks. I know I never will, and I will continue to share my experience, including the clear fact that Motor Ombudsman verdict found in my favour, with others. They will no doubt then make a sensible decision to go elsewhere. INITIAL REVIEW Just walked out... Had booked a £169 Service and MOT at John Banks Renault Cambridge - as clearly advertised for new customers on their website. Upon arrival they claimed the advertised "combined" price, as clearly stated and booked by me, didn't include the MOT! I showed them their advert (that reads - ESSENTIAL SERVICE AND MOT....£169 FOR A COMBINED SERVICE AND MOT IN CAMBRIDGE) and queried and was shown small print that states "from". I asked who does get the £169 price and the answer was "no-one gets a service and MOT for £169"....I rest my case. Was told I would need to escalate my complaint to a Director - and don't worry I will (as well as any ombudsman, trade association etc.) And of course I'll tell everyone I know about my experience and the mis-advertising etc. I explained I had specifically cited the price and what I expected when I booked, but was still told they won't honour the price. By the way I already have a screen shot of your non existent offer so don't try and change it... I'd suggest you use someone else. A complete waste of my time. I will never go back - misleading advertising and unhelpful response on site. Proceed with dealing with them at your own risk... POST RESPONSE UPDATE Thank you for your response - and I note you have now altered the wording on your misleading web site tile advert (possibly after me referring it to the ASA?). That said, the second page when you click through still clearly says "from £169 for a combined service and MOT" - yet no vehicles are eligible for this at a price of £169 are they....? I note you have still not acknowledged that the original advert was misleading, and also add that your response to my formal complaint was laughable and didn't follow your own published complaints procedure. I was not "allocated a complaint manager" or "complaint reference number" (until I chased this at stage 3). Overall, I will never use you again, continue to flag my poor experience with you to others, and urge those who are looking at these reviews in advance of using your services (rather than in annoyance having not received a good service) to check the stats on this page about your overall rating - there is clearly a reason why you are so low in the rating of motor dealers, and ranked last as the Renault franchise in the East of England...Could that be anything to do with you....?

I phoned and spoke with Darren Briggs who allowed me to reserve the car for a number of days until I could travel up to Cambridge to view and test drive the car. In the meantime Darren sent me a personalised video. Nothing was too much trouble for Darren. On the arranged day, we arrived at Cambridge station where Darren picked us up. What amazing service. The car was was serviced, MOT'd and washed/polished ready for our test drive. Shortly after we purchased the car and drive it home, with a follow up phone call a few days later. Throughout the whole process Darren was extremely helpful and professional, and an amazing champion for the John Banks Company. Terry Kemp.

Through no fault of the dealership the car has been delayed but we really appreciate the fact Darren keeps us informed on the progress. They even took two cars off me in part-ex. All I wanted was a cheap run around for shopping and the station and I actually googled the cheapest car in the UK. The Stepway - it's not a Jag - but it is truly outstanding value for money. I got the Prestige auto version and you would be astonished at how high the spec is: from alloys to android auto, satnav to climate control, surround parking assist to electric wing mirrors. It might be the cheapest car in the UK but it doesn't look like it, feel like it or drive like it. Impressed all round.

The staff were friendly and efficient and, when my vehicle was ready to collect, the results were explained clearly to me. There was an advisory note so I will happily take my car back for further checks and maintenance works.

Darren made sure the car was very clean and also helped with any questions I had , nothing was too much trouble. He also kept me informed by telephone of any updates and progress regarding the car . They have a great range of cars and would go back to purchase another car in the future.

Returned by Alan later in the day with completed Service Record and MOT Certificate, together with advice on tyre wear and disc/pads wear and advice on replacement needs. All satisfactory and as expected, with no work needed other than replacements noted above. Job done and well pleased, with outcomes and expectations for another year of trouble free motoring.
