Its one thing to say you are helping small businesses thrive, its another to actually do it. Pie Insurance is ALL talk. My company is a 1-person, Veteran-owned small business trying to stay afloat during this pandemic. While I am trying to keep the lights on and keep my business alive Pie decided I needed to divert my efforts and undertake a big, time-consuming audit. Again, I AM A 1-PERSON COMPANY! There is no one else to do the audit except me. I explained it to them, sent emails and sent in some information showing I am a single owner. How did Pie respond? They increased my rates by 150%! ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY PERCENT!!! I have had no issues since I have been with them. I have not had any job site injuries let alone WC claims. I have been with them for more than two years. My payments were paid via autopay. If I had a customer like me who always paid on time and had zero issues I would do everything I could to keep them. Thats how I run my business. Not Pie. They extort their customers. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! They look to find ways to get more money out of the very small businesses they claim to support. Total frauds! Nicole was so amazing at helping us with what was difficult for the first two employees we talked to about our policy and coverage for a specific job we required additional insurance with. She quickly was able to answer our questions and handle it right away! She is terrific!

This Rating has two updates, make sure you check them out: Don't do it. Stay away from this company. Everything is fine for the year that you were paying there premiums. But then it comes time for audit, you send them your information showing them what you reported to the IRS, proving that you are actually under your estimated salary, and if they don't like that information they want to see your whole books, because I guess they don't believe what you sent them, and that you couldn't possibly be under the estimate and they might actually owe you money. And then they go and say you didn't comply with their audit. I was expecting a refund and instead they try to get another 17-1800 out of you without any explanation except for saying you didn't comply with their audit. Beware of this company. They will never give you a refund they will just try to audit you and make sure they can get more money out of you. Update: 05/14/2021, Well good news. After writing this review, David from Pie reached out to me and reviewed my case and apologized for me having to go to this extreme in writing a bad review. After looking everything over he agrees with me and is even sending me the refund I thought I was owed instead of a invoice. So when I receive my check I will let you know and probably raise my rating up. Thank you again David Campos. Final Update 05/26/2021: I received my refund check! David did what he promised and reviewed my account and got me that refund that I thought I should have gotten in the first place. I wish everything could have been handled like they did after this bad review. ( David was great.) But I guess once in a while the only way a big company knows that we are not happy and need that extra help, is to write a bad review and then they react. David helped restore my opinion as a positive experience at the end of all of this. I am just keeping the 2 stars though because of what I had to do to get this positive experience.

Buyer beware. At first, everything was great. Then I tried to cancel my policy as I no longer needed it. 17 days after I canceled the policy, PIE wanted to do a "policy review" via a third party and for me to pay for it -- $361.00. Today, I received notification from PIE that they were going to withdraw the funds directly from my bank account. No. Not going to happen.

I appreciate Aileen and the team at PIE Insurance. Although I have a small business in terms of number of employees and policy size, they make me feel valued, and that is a testament to your company and how it values it's clients. My audit was efficient, professional, and quite polite as well!

My recent experience, as with all experiences prior with PIE, have been very positive. All of the employees, including Kristina, have been personable, polite, professional, patient, in addition to being knowledgeable.

The experience was straight forward but I think the communication with direct lines would be nice. It just seemed a little difficult to get in touch with the agent. I also haven't gotten my pie insurance policy yet. would think this survey would be the last email I would get when purchasing insurance.

Update, I hade a Dispute with this company it went on for over a year, I finally received a call from pie insurance and they told me they wanted to make it right and they did, I received a full refund. For me personally I will not use pie insurance but it is not a bad company and it could work for you, I do recommend them if you want to save money on Workmen’s Comp.
