United States | 13 June 2021Safe and sane alternative for families. I have two kids ages 9 and 12 in various activities and I am a small business owner with a crazy schedule. It is critical for me that my kids learn to use smart phones as tools to help them manage their time and their rides. My 9 year old has dyslexia and uses an app to help with her reading. And both of them enjoy taking pictures, texting with their six aunts and uncles, and doing other healthy activities on their phones. But we had to take away their previous smart phones because of ongoing problems with the kids breaking through parental controls. They would always come clean pretty quickly (they were proud of the fact they were smarter than the smart phone and couldn't keep it to themselves) but I was getting increasingly uncomfortable with the situation when my 12 year old discovered porn and was both intrigued and disgusted. I knew I needed to protect my children. And that was right around the time Pinwheel launched. I've been a delighted user ever since. I don't think that keeping technology from kids is the answer--then when they finally have access, they won't know how to use it responsibly. This is a great in-between option. They have access to the apps they need and some fun ones. I know they are safe. I am so grateful these phones exist!

United States | 10 June 2021I had an issue with an unapproved phone number contacting my daughter. I was able to determine, with the help of a representative, that the voicemail carrier allows such calls, however, her Pinwheel phone should adequately block her from making a call to the unapproved number. Customer service was prompt, courteous, and answered all of my concerns and questions.

I can reach out to them at any hour and ask questions and even if they are not immediately available, I can leave my contact information and they will respond as soon as possible. They have really gone above and beyond in helping when issues have popped up, even checking back in days later to make sure everything is still working. Tonight my daughters phone just stopped allowing outgoing phone calls. The phone was fixed in minutes with guidance from online tech support. I love that I don't have to wait and take the phone to a store to be looked at. Not only is this a great first phone for my kids, but I am very happy with the customer service that comes with it.

We did not feel our 13 year old daughter was ready for all of the apps (and responsibilities) that come with having a smartphone, but we wanted her to have a way to call/text family and friends. With Pinwheel, we feel that we have the best of both worlds!

United States | 21 April 2021Was having sync issues with pinging/geolocating my daughter's new phone from the Caregiver Dashboard. Popped into online chat, linked up with JM Ramos and she quickly diagnosed the dilemma. A cache clear here, a logout refresh and tweaking there, and we were gold again. Much thanks to the stellar PW support and customer service staff. Our kiddos, whether they realize it or not, appreciate your care and attention, as well. Keep up the great work!

United States | 04 April 2021Ed was great and informative. I guess I am just disappointed that we can't utilize the photo printer may daughter received for her birthday, so we have a sad girl. I hope the app gets approved because I feel that it's not harmful, but a fun accessory to her phone.

United States | 21 March 2021Since joining Pinwheel, it has been an interesting journey - not always the most smooth, but interesting. But after our most recent experience, I must say that I am impressed! After our daughter dropped her phone and we were not able to have it repaired, I sent a message to pinwheel to see about getting a new phone to replace the broken one. The customer service department (especially Ralph!) was great finding us a solution that exceeded our expectations for an incident that we knew was our responsibility! Thank you very much!

United States | 19 March 2021Nice idea, but the fact that they are constantly updating and changing the system without thorough enough investigation has caused non stop problems for us. Workarounds, stranger's contacts added, sudden unexplained mode changes, child left in unfamiliar territory with no maps and no way to contact me. I had the impression I was getting a simple phone, instead they're making it a cluttered smart phone with supposed limits that's more of a pain than a reg. smart phone. I'm moving to Gabb, multiple friends say it's very simple!!!! Contacted pinwheel with multiple complaints soon after receiving the phone, they pled w me to be patient, so I did....3+mo. Later..Now they refuse to do anything more than credit one mo. Saying it's past the 30 days for refund on the phone that hasn't given me decent service for a full week at a time from Jan-Mar.

United States | 11 March 2021Great concept to teach kids how to use the phone as a tool. Excellent features to keep the kids safe, approved contacts, apps, no internet, social media. I didn't give it 5 stars since there has been some bugs and issues with the phone that was quick resolved by PinWheel. It's a young system that is going throw growing pains. For the caregiver portal there is no alerts if your child trys to add a contact. Request Apps page is not up today. Most of my annoyance has to do with the back end system not the phone itself.

Pinwheel is a start-up company that is a new vision on an operating system that grows with your child and prevents addictive content of apps like SnapChat and Facebook but, still allows a kid to have a real phone with a camera and music like spotify and other fun learning apps. This operating system also allows parents to grant permission for all individuals who can contact your child and whom your child can contact. It is great. It is a start-up so, they are constantly learning and evolving and with that....there are some hiccups. But, the amazing silver lining is they have this incredible, friendly customer support team that you can reach out to via the their chat function. They ask you what the issue is and they immediately try to diagnose it and fix it. No matter what, they work on your issue and fix it. I am so impressed with how if there is an issue, I can always, ALWAYS rely on the fact that this customer service team is there for us and will fix any issues!!! I even know some of the technicians by name and they know me. They keep all the notes from your previous contacts so, they really know how to just jump in and fix things. They are an amazing company and the phone is so perfect for my children. It is their first phone and they are 14 and it is a real phone and does all the real phone things that they want...minus the apps that can be harmful and addictive.

United States | 03 March 2021Pinwheel is great. My nieces (age 8 and 10) love having a phone, and I love that they are only able to use it for things that kids need. The no internet access and no app store were really big draws for me. We have had the phones for about 2 months now and they are wonderful.

Sometimes it could be confusing due that I personally don’t use android phones, and there’s a lot of restrictions going on with settings. But I know this was the whole sense of the service. Also the people on the customer service are nice.
