United Kingdom | 21 October 2022I love Findmypast, there is so much info on the site, I use it almost daily

United Kingdom | 16 October 2022Excellent platform for family history research which is getting better each day!

Ireland | 15 October 2022I used this service to help me prepare my family tree. There was a lot in it that was helpful to me , mostly other people’s trees that had ancestors in common with me. It all helped me to move forward with my research. However, as an Irish researcher, I found too much emphasis on the Great Britain experience and unless you up graded to an even more expensive package a lot was not accessible to me.

Ireland | 05 October 2022Good site for locating records but there seems to be no link between DNA results uploaded to Living DNA and Findmypast.

Ireland | 30 September 2022I found the site very easy to use and extremely helpful in getting quite a few unknown family connections resolved. The 1921 Census was particularly useful as was the 1939 register.

United Kingdom | 28 September 2022Always gone to this website for quick finds, historical facts, hard to discover records as very good interface. Would like 1921 Census to be accessible without having to subscribe. Definitely recommend to anyone who hits 'a brick wall' in their research.

Ireland | 24 September 2022Too expensive

United Kingdom | 20 September 2022I find that there is nothing coming up for my searches that I am not already aware of

United Kingdom | 11 September 2022I find that if I search for someone then maybe search again in 2-3 months it creates another person profile, I can’t merge them. If I compare with other websites I can get conflicting information or cannot find same information. This is not necessarily find my past doing but can be. I really like find my past, especially for records from home. I realise you are running a business but there always appears to be added costs, like accessing newspapers or military records and now we have 1921 census, which, I understand, that you have sole access.

United Kingdom | 08 September 2022Find my past has easily accessible databases. Searching is sometimes a bit clunky -finding the right search terms, for example. The newspaper scans are a bit hit and Miss but I have turned up some good stories. I usually spend up to an hour at a time on the site. I recommend taking manual notes otherwise it is easy to lose your thead. You can save documents for your own use and send them to your printer too which is great if you are working with an elderly person who hates computer screens.

United States | 05 September 2022Annoyed some records disappear ie American newspapers yet not replaced and the cost of the subscription doesn’t go down Apart from that ok

Ireland | 03 September 2022I find making the tree difficult. I get doubles and /or their children are only connected to one parent.

Ireland | 03 September 2022It has helped me locate certain facts about my relatives however when I contacted FMP on 2 occasions to follow up on certain aspects while I was assured of follow up. It never happened

Richard Hanks
Ireland | 02 September 2022Quaker birth records give address of Monthly Meeting ie where the birth was recorded, not the abode of the family concerned. We have a Friends burial ground adjacent to our family home, it is the most common complaint. "Within the compass" may cover 100 miles

Canada | 30 August 2022Although I purchased an annual membership I find the FMP website a nuisance to work on. I've decided I don't like the individual person's info page format. After looking at Records unable to return to person I'm searching but flipped back to List of Trees. I then have to click on the tree I'm working on and it takes me to the home person then have to go find the person whose profile I was working on - tiresome. Another point the HINTS page needs to have alphabetize names button.

Mr Barry
Ireland | 30 August 2022Findmypast has a decent catalogue of records, some of them free to access too, especially if your irish or of irish descent. The user interface is easy enough to use as well

Maureen
United Kingdom | 29 August 2022I joined find my past because from your advertising l was lead to believe you had vast Irish records. On my English line lm well advanced as been doing it for years, alway found my Irish research hard so l thought your records would be able to help me with my Irish Ancestors but have found less on your web site than Family tree and Ancestor. Com which l also use. So lm very disappointed. When l used it before it seen to have more information( before 1921 census) did you give up record ?

Australia | 28 August 2022I wish FMP would ‘talk’ to Ancestry and link family trees and their updates by using the same formats. It really is a waste of time for genealogist to have to run family trees in tandem because there’s no common interface between the two companies. I’m sure profits would remain the same for both companies but it would assist family tree owners with their research.

New Zealand | 27 August 2022I have been given a gift subscription. The site says I have highest level of access but a lot if the records I click on redirect to an upgrade page. Quite disappointed.

Australia | 25 August 2022I am currently a PhD candidate at an Australian University and I use FindMy Past nearly every single day that I am working on my thesis. I especially value the historical newspapers, and eagerly check the new papers digitised when alerted by the web-site.I am researching circuses in the nineteenth century that toured across many national boundaries, so the international papers, especially those from Asia, India and China are indispensable to my research. Newspapers are an indispensable tool for circus historians, as circuses rarely make their way into history books, or colonial papers. Being able to access these invaluable and rare documents at home, esepcially during the pandemic has been transformative. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to the uploading of the Calcutta newspaper Bengal Hurkuru please. This was the only Calcutta paper that always recognised popular theatrical performances! Being able to access 18th Century newspapers has also allowed me to confidently track the emergence of the modern circus in Britain as well.
