You have to be patient with contractors sometimes, just because it can be difficult to get the right parts even for them now but they stay on top of things and get the job done. The company follows up through the process with you too and that’s good. I’m glad I have First American Home Warranty.

After 20 years of doing business with First American Home Warranty (FA), in which I would have given them a B+, I am know looking for a new service and would NEVER recommend FA to anyone. In essence, they sent out an HVAC contractor that was rejected by BBB with a ton of reviews of incompetence and unethical behavior (See email below and link). EMS, the HVAC contractor, said that I needed a new evaporator, which FA would cover, but the modifications to meet code on the change out would be $2495. This seemed out of whack, so I got a second opinion on my dime and the immediate diagnosis was a leak near the dryer on my outside unit, which FA should have covered under my contract with them. FA insisted, that while they looked over EMS's BBB review, that EMS was a great contractor in my area and the only way I could get a new contractor to look at my AC was to take the $818 cash option form them and get it fixed. While leaving out numerous other frustrations, like being without an AC for a month in August, in Texas, I finally took the cash option. My bill to fix the leak by the dryer and put in new freon was $1550. My unit works perfectly now with ABSOLUTELY no change out of the evaporator or even touching the evaporator. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!!! SHAME ON FA and EMS is crooked or at the very least EXTREMELY INCOMPETENT!! EMAIL TO FA - ONE OF MANY WHERE I GOT BRUSHED OFF Thank you for your response. Currently, I do not want the cash option sent to me. Last week I had an HVAC person come out and he said that there is definitely a leak in the outside unit and that with the accompanying oil residue it should have been apparent to any HVAC person. As such, I have to question the necessity for changing out the evaporator coil unless there an image you can send me to verify. I can also send you an image of the outside leak if you like. In researching EMS below, the BBB has rejected EMS and there are a ton of reviews against EMS that definitely question their ethics and competence. As such, could we get another contractor to take a look? Thank you

Scam company.. Run, this company is a crock of Sh..t. After 2 years never used them. call them for my stove and 1 oven isn’t heating up. It’s 1 unit they tell me it’s a $200 service call because they’re separate units. It’s not a built in oven it 1 pull out stove like most Americans have. So I ask if my refrigerator is acting up and my freezer what’s the service call guess what $200. Modern day rip off company. Please read and pass on. Contract states oven/range/ cooktop. It doesn’t have them separated. How are they allowed to get away with that. DONT USE THEM. Try a different company.

I've had this warranty for a few years, they assigned a company that never called me. I had to call them, they took my money and then without telling me denied the claim for the hot water tank repairs. They left me hanging for over a week. I had to call them. I was told that they would review and call me back in 48 hours, never got a call back. Waited on hold for over an hour. I haven't saved any money. I haven't had a working hot water tank for 20 days. It was a very disappointing experience to say the least.
