About First American Home Warranty

First American home warranty plans provide a safeguard for your budget when your home’s systems and appliances break down. When a covered item unexpectedly stops working, we’re here to help with getting it working again. As a leader in the home warranty industry since 1984, you can count on the protection, experience and stability of First American Home Warranty. Appliances and home systems will eventually fail. It’s unavoidable. A home warranty offers you a renewable service contract you can use to protect systems in your home such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical, as well as major appliances like your dishwasher, oven, clothes washer/dryer, refrigerator, and more. With our home warranty protection, when a covered item breaks, we’ll send a pre-screened service contractor to your home to diagnose the issue. Many of our customers request service multiple times each year and save hundreds to thousands of dollars on repair and replacement costs. These types of mechanical failures are typically not covered by your homeowners insurance, so a home warranty can help bridge that gap in protection by shielding your budget from these sudden expenses. Benefits of a First American home warranty: • A simple solution when something breaks • Protection from huge, unexpected repair or replacement bills • 24/7 service requests • Unlimited service calls We offer a variety of affordable warranty plans and options so you can customize your coverage to fit your home and budget. My stove went out on me 4 days before Thanksgiving. They made me find someone to repair it. They determined that they would replace it. They gave me choices like the one I had but they couldn't guarantee color. They say you have to agree to this to get it replaced. After a week they then tell me to go to store and select a stove and pay for it and they would pay me the costs. I did that and then they sent me a check which was short about $70. I then didn't get my stove delivered until Jan.11th 2025. I didn't have a stove for Thanksgiving or Christmas in 2024. This is terrible customer service and need I say I canceled my policy after this experience. They suck!

Customer Service by First American and Evolution Plumbing was great. A review of the plumber is mixed: 10/10 - Changed hot and cold water valves 3/10 - Refused to believe mixing valve was defective and blamed my recirculation pump. Problem is intermittent and he did not offer to inspect it.

In the 4 years we've purchased a warranty from this company, we've had 3 experiences with the claims side of their operation. In each instance, the results have been less than satisfactory. Our latest experience was when our heater stopped working in early January. Despite outside temperatures being in the teens, we had to wait 2 days for their technician to show up. When he did, he quickly diagnosed the problem as a bad thermostat and told me it needed to be replaced. When I purchased and installed the new thermostat, the heat worked again. The technician was right, but First American Home Warranty refused to reimburse me for the cost of the new thermostat despite their contract clearly stating that thermostats are covered. They're happy to take your money, but don't expect good service when you need them.

FAHW Is terrible. After 9 years of being a customer with less than 5 minor claims, they've finally showed who they are. I had a 25 year old rusty leaking garbage disposal. They send an awful, condescending man to my house. He preyed on my elderly tenant. Tricking him into paying $257 to replace some screws on the garbage disposal. Tells him problem is solved. Knowing it was not. I had my own plumber come out and replace the garbage disposal which comes with the screws he replaced for $500. When I talked with Gary, the plumber, for a refund he refused and went on to say thing like "I'm just there to get my bacon." "I agree it needed to be replaced but FAHW wont pay me." "It was older than my grandma." The only thing we agreed on was how bad First American Home warranty is. I've submitted a claim and spent countless hours trying to get reimbursed by FAHW but they wont refund a penny. I'm disgusted and feel conned. They have provided ZERO value in 9 years. $6750 paid to them over 9 years for NOTHING.

I've have First American for many years and they used to be good, but have gone down hill in recent years. I've had a couple slab leaks over the years and they paid around $1,200 towards the repair each time. Fast forward about 3-4 years and I have a new one. This time they only offered $500 towards the repair or I could get a cash-out of that amount and apply that to however I choose to have it repaired. I decided to take the cash-out and apply the $500 to a company to re-pipe my plumbing through the attic to avoid the issue going forward. They revised their cash-out offer, and only offered me $250. #313951866

My first experience with a home warranty company was First American home warranty. Boy have they tarnished my trust of purchasing a home warranty, from anyone. My first claim with them was my Water heater, which I ended up paying out of pocket $650 for. That doesn’t sound to me like it was much covered completely. Called the office and they really have no explanation. They just blame it on the company that they send out. No help, and no real Customer Service . My second claim was, by far the worst it was for an evaporative cooler that was bad and needed replacing. First of all, it took forever for them to get someone out. I live in the desert and by the time they replaced it, it was October. But that was not the real issue, they took out a huge, giant cooler and replaced it with a small one that would probably cool down a closet.and it left a gaping hole on my outdoor wall and my indoor wall, which they did not fix. I then called the First American office, and the customer service was completely bad, They just kept telling me it was going to be taken care of and stupidly, I believed them And it took so long and they strung me along that they got two more monthly payments out of me payments out of me. They had three service men come out to check my cooler and they said that it was acceptable for my size of house. I believe they just installed a piece of metal trash, that will never be used in my house. boy oh boy if you plan on going with this company, you really better think twice!!!!!! You will be on the phone quite a bit, with your complaints, which will get you nowhere. FAHW blames it on the contractor that comes to your house, and the contractor will blame it on.FAHW. This get you nowhere and you call again and you get nowhere. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW ANYTHING, TERRIBLE SERVICE COMPANIES THAT THEY SEND OUT. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE FROM START TO FINISH, is UNKNOWLEDGEABLE. And every single time you call FIRST AMERICAN, Be ready to be on the phone a MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES, BUT IT WILL BE MORE THAN THAT. RUN, RUN FAR AND AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THIS COMPANY

I had an emergency situation (furnace not working in 20 degree weather) and reported it on day one. The clerk didn't take it seriously and I had wait 3-days before I got service.
