This SCAM company steals! They will steal your items and deliver the box empty or nearly empty. This is a heist company. Basically like Ira and his theft ring from Breaking Bad. I believe they steal valuable items and hock them. Beware! A lot of people have complained of the same tactic: missing jewelry, missing designer clothes etc. They employ a bunch of illegal shady Russian guys who have fancier cars than their pay could ever allow. Reporting them to authorities. This company should be shut down.

Beware! Dumbo Moving and Storage will duplicate your electronic signature and then insert it into documents that absolve or limit their responsibility for damage. You won't be asked to sign a paper contract in ink. On the day of the move, the crew chief will take out his phone and ask for your signature to confirm that they showed up on time and have started working. Somehow that exact signature or a forged facsimile will later appear in numerous places on a digital contract. They'll even insert initials that look nothing like your handwriting. If you don't purchase supplemental insurance, Dumbo says its liability is limited to 60 cents per pound. (For example, they destroyed my 13-pound Bang & Olufsen turntable, which Dumbo values at $7.80.) Maybe that's why Dumbo has zero respect for your property. Do yourself a favor and hire a responsible, professional moving company.

We moved 5 blocks at the beginning of November 2019. Aside from missing boxes, our bed is broken (wake up every day completely sore), dresser drawers no longer work and our visibly destroyed. All of our wine glasses and delicate Christmas ornaments were destroyed. I also suspect that some boxes are missing because a number of items were never found after our move. We were double charged (had more items than they expected) but they destroyed our stuff. We had elevators in both buildings. They conducted themselves professionally during the move but I suspect that maybe there was a fall in the truck during the move and they never said anything. It's hard to say what happened but much of our stuff was destroyed from the move. We've moved several times and never witnessed damaged like this. It seems as if they just dropped boxes intentionally (were they angry at us for having more stuff than we claimed?) or there was a fall perhaps in the truck as I said. I will never use them again because I don't like seeing my stuff destroyed. The sad thing is that if they would have just told us what happened we would be completely understanding.

I had an initially great experience with Dumbo! I moved out of my apt on 12/31, and they easily arranged storage and a move to my new place, since it wouldn't be ready till 1/4. I requested the same truck that moved me out (Truck 23) because they were great. A different truck arrived on 1/4 (Truck 21). When we were just about done with the move, I noticed a section of my closet wasn't right, and I asked the mover about it and he told me that I was correct and one of my wardrobe boxes (box 32) was missing, and that they would go to the storage unit and find it. I tipped both movers generously, and signed the paperwork, but noted prominently and multiple times that I was missing said wardrobe box. I spoke with the company and they assured they would look for it, and if they could not locate it, that I would be compensated. Fast forward and they say my box has not been found, and went back on their initial statement and now say that the box was delivered with my move and was never actually lost, and offered me $50 for the inconvenience. The knobs for my nightstand are also in that box, so I have an unusable nightstand and thousands of dollars worth of clothes missing. They have not contacted me and refuse to call, will only communicate through e-mail in broken English. This is completely unacceptable and they will be hearing from a professional on my behalf.

BEWARE! This is an awful company - dishonest, shady, despicable behavior that nobody should have to deal with. I used them before and everything was okay - I had a great moving team and the job was done quickly. They damaged a few items but I let it slide (actually, in hindsight I was forced to let it slide because I contacted them multiple times about the damage and they never got back to me. I had bigger things on my plate at the time and didn’t think it was significant enough to waste a bunch of time). Anyway, I wish I would have read reviews before hiring them again because everything in the reviews is accurate. They will rope you in with a quote lower than the competitors then on the day of the move they will charge you more and threaten to cancel the job if you don’t pay. Most recently I dealt with some moron who couldn’t keep track of a thing and made multiple mistakes when taking inventory of my items. I sent multiple emails and made a few calls and got no response. When I finally got someone on the phone they assured me everything was fine and if I had anything extra I might be charged a little more but nothing excessive. That was not the case - I had 12 extra boxes and they charged me almost $200 more on the day of the move. When I asked for a manager to complain I was met with the most disgusting customer service ever. They would not let me speak and were not willing to help in any way. They did not take accountability for their errors and kept trying to blame me for their nonsense. When I said I would pay but I was disgusted and would write negative reviews on Yelp and everywhere else he told me I was trying to blackmail him and that they didn’t want my money anyway. He called the movers to tell them to cancel the job and luckily the movers refused. The movers then spent the rest of the day telling me how awful the company is, how they do this to clients on a regular basis, and how they feel badly for the extra charges their clients are always incurring. It’s a sad state of affairs when employees can’t even defend the company they work for. I’m going through my things now and everything seems okay - one lamp is damaged but it could be worse. Regardless, I would never use this company again, even if they paid me!! STAY AWAY! If you use them you will regret it.

This is probably the worst company i have dealt with . They did not show up and on calling the person said that i booked for saturday and not friday. On sending him the mails stating the change of date and also pointing out the coi and payment links highlighting the correct date. The person on call continued to be extremely rude. To top it all there seems to be only one person answering calls as he refused to let me speak with anyone else. Later he also called me to say that he will accommodate my move if i send a mail apologising for mistakes on his end. Very shady conduct. If the sales cant speak properly and plays blame rather than look for resolution, then i would stay away from giving them business and having to deal with then if anything more goes wrong. Many other better movers in the city which are definitely more efficient, professional and much better overall, especially in the way they speak and conduct business.e refused to let me speak with anyone else. They were right on time, worked hard on moving my stuff and NOTHING was damaged. Price was cheaper than the other company, and the moving was faster. I got my stuff delivered earlier than expected, so I was able to sleep in my bed! I would definitely recommend Dumbo Moving to the others. If I need to move again, I will certainly contact Dumbo Moving again. Thank you!
