My dog needed a minor operation - but expensive enough to make a claim. The whole process was very easy and the only delays were caused by the vet practise admin system.

It was simple to use with little stress. My pup was vomiting blood they let me take her the vets and sort the insurance once my pup was treated. I filled the form and passed to the vet and within the month they had sorted my claim.

The initial communication with 4Paws was excellent and then they dealt directly with our vets, but kept us in the loop throughout via email and text message.

Helpful call centre when I was in a panic and didn't know what to do. All sorted via the vets in the end. Couldn't have had a better experience considering it was a stressful time .

Bunch of crooks! My pup developed issues with all 4 legs after taking my policy out, identified an issue with both her knees and potentially an issue with one of her elbows. This lot Paid out for my dogs CT scan of her elbows, then it was decided she needed 3 operations so was referred to a top specialist. Vet decided only to do both knees and see if elbows heal themselves. I correctly claimed for the knees, after weeks of no contact, they advise they are querying a medication as it was unlicensed! I told them to pay out and exclude the meds as they were only £13, they then queried the fact she was seen before the policy start date for a sore leg. The previous issue was a minor limp that was not an issue, the vet advised it was “dead leg” as she slept funny on it, i prevented her laying on the leg and the issue resolved. When she was diagnosed with the issues with her knees the policy was already in place and was diagnosed by an orthopaedic specialist who confirmed this was a new condition. Now this lot refuse the claim and tell me the initial payout for her elbows was wrongly paid. Why? Because the orthopaedic specialist has left and they have wrote to another vet who contradicts the first report. He’s also now left and I can’t challenge him. I have spoken to the partner of the vets and the specialist who done the surgery who are willing to support me with any evidence but 4paws aren’t interested, I can’t appeal it… complaints team tell me to wait on claim decline letter, have had that so I tell them I want to appeal, but claims tell me I need to wait on a response from complaints, can’t go to ombudsman as they wont issue me a response…. Or so they think… Avoid their the ones guilty of defrauding customers not other way round.

I bought Pet insurance through a reward gateway with 4paws pet insurance with a commitment to cashback. This company acted in bad faith refusing to pay the agreed cashback. Any insurance company prepared to act in this way definitely can't be trusted to settle legitimate claims. I won't be using this company again.

My dog fell ill and needed to be admitted to the vets “hospital” for the night. We had to pay the vet the cost upfront and the vet took the insurance claim form from us when we collected our pet. They submitted the completed form to the insurance company on our behalf and within 10 days, the claim was settled and money in my account.

Having had an expensive trip to the vet with my dog and not being able to carry out a direct claim between insurance and the vet, 4Paws were very prompt in repayment. Infact quicker than expected. 4Paws customer service team were very helpful in the few times I needed to speak to them via phone.

I have had my douge de bordeaux insured with 4Paws pet insurance for 4 years and it was only recently when she became unwell that I have ever had to submit a claim. I had three visits to my local vets but unfortuntely they where unable to diagnose the cause of her illness so she was referred to a specialist veterinary clinic where she underwent numerous tests including scans, blood tests and biopsies etc. I spoke to the customer service team twice prior to my claim and on both occasions they where very polite & helpful. The claims where submitted by my vets and the specialist vets and I was notified at each stage until the claim was settled. You hear stories where "small print" clauses leave certain illnesses and treatments unncovered with insurance policies but in my case it was all dealt with quickly and professionally so I would most definitely recommend 4Paws pet insurace,

This company are absolutely f***ing rubbish. Unfortunately I'm stuck with them because I was with them when my dog had a cancerous lump removed otherwise I would have left them long ago! Still haven't settled my claim from August when said dog had an operation to remove 3 lumps which turned out to be benign. Now they're trying to say I need to make 3 separate claims for each lump because they were different types of benign, meaning they want me to pay my excess 3 times and lose out on at least £350 even though they were removed in one operation! Absolutely disgusting. To even get them to pay up is an absolute mission, keep saying they're waiting for my vet to provide the necessary information when my vet says they haven't been contacted at all and I'm having to be the go between and waste my time and tell my vet what information the insurance company say they need!

Our family dog Dudley was seriously ill and had been referred to a specialist veterinarian as our last hope, I was worried sick regarding the estimated cost upfront from the surgery (£5000) but after a simple phone call from the receptionist at the hospital to 4paws to confirm cover everything was sorted in less than a minute,, ,, and our Dudley was saved

First thing you always do when there's a problem is take your dog to the vet. Then when you start to see the costs you think about your insurance and hope it is OK having paid the excess. The claim procedure from vet to 4Paws to me was simple and fairly quick which takes away one worry. I firmly believe that insurance is about the claim not the cost, you can get really cheap quotes but it's wasted money if they won't honour a claim.

Our dog Ginny snapped the tendon in her back leg, and had to have a metal plate placed in her leg. When our claim for the cost of her operation was sent to you, you processed our claim quickly, efficiently and very professionally. We were very impressed, and would happily recommend 4paws Pet Insurance to anyone who requires pet insurance.

First Class service, first class company. 10/10 customer services. Super fast response times and claims settlement. I would thoroughly recommend 4 Paws for the future and have already done so with my friend who has insured her dog with them. She is also extremely impressed. Do have a look at 4 Paws before going anywhere else, they are highly competitive and deliver every time.

I would recommend this insurance company as easy to deal with. Fast payment for the vet bills and the option to pay direct to the vet. Just check your coverage required and go for maximum as trust me you may need it and for a few pounds more worth paying just in case the worst happens.
