Just got my renewal quote which was increased by £66.18 or 17.2% from previous premium. This is totally unacceptable and especially since I have not had any need to make a claim since having this insurance. An e-mail message explaining the increase was so patronising and full of excuses which were not backed up with any factual evidence. Do not use this insurance provider.

I needed to make a claim when my dog had surgery. The service was impeccable, with prompt and regular updates and a quick payout. All resolved within a matter of days. Very impressed.

I made a claim for some X-rays that we needed for our dog. The process was simple, downloaded and completed the form and then upload to the website. I quickly received confirmation it had been reviewed and then a few days later confirmation of payout with the money arriving a few days after that Excellent service and pain free process.

Unfortunately my dog spent the night in the vets due to ingesting too much sea water. The process of claiming with 4Paws Pet Insurance was so straight forward. I downloaded the claim form from the website, filled it in, sent it to the vets who completed their section then sent it off to the insurance company. I received regular updates that they’d received my claim, then that I would be paid the amount less my excess. It couldn’t have been an easier transaction as initially I panicked and thought how am I going to afford this and what if the insurance company don’t pay. I have continued my policy with 4Paws and would recommend them to anyone.

What fantastic service! The staff have always been very friendly and professional on the phone, and my claims were paid out within days and in full! I was never on hold for more than a minute too! 4Paws have been brilliant and we will be sticking with them.

Our dog tool poorly unexpectedly and the vet was unable to diagnose an immediate problem so she ended up having lots of investigations and treatments to try and get her better until they found out what was wrong which was costly. I spoke to an advisor at 4 paws who was very good and talked us through the claims process. We downloaded all the forms we needed and they were simple to complete the claim didn't take that long and they paid the money back into my bank account without a Hitch. It was straightforward and took a weight off our minds at a time when we were worried. Thank you for a smooth process!

Very helpful and speedy in sending me what I needed to make a claim initially. When I submitted the claim it was settled really quickly, and great communication throughout so I knew exactly what was happening. Would recommend highly.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! having read some of these reviews it comes to no surprise now the experience I've had. The first thing to mention is that you can you will be on hold for around 40 minutes before you get to speak to someone, when you do, it's likely to be someone from a different department to what you need. My dog had an accident 4 days before my renewal, however due to them increasing my premiums by 50% (reading the reviews this seems to be every customer) I called to see if I needed to stay put in case it effected any ongoing claims. The sales adviser I spoke to explained that I can still change and that I could only claim for a max of £4000 anyway for my dog. Due to me saving £10 a month by switching, I went ahead and switched off the back of the advice I was given only to later find out that I could claim £4000 per claim year, They've cost me at least £1000 in vet bills they would have covered had I been given the right advice and now 6 days after my renewal date they are refusing to renew even though they gave me false information. Shocking service and my only advice is do your homework before taking out dog insurance and don't be like me, stressed and worried about how the claim is going to go from here.

I have 4 Paws pet insurance and was not due to renew policy until 5/9/21. I recently received an email on the 31/8 saying that they had renewed the policy so was not amused. I tried to contact them by telephone on four occasions with no success. I sent an email and was told they would reply within 3 days. They need to change how they work but of course it is covid to blame.

They increased my renewal price by a lot, and when I enquired about reducing the cost, they said they couldn't and then just cancelled my policy without warning. Very unethical to just leave me with two uninsured dogs!

This company is a rip off. Every year they put the prices up RIDICULOUS amounts. I.e. 25% every year! They don’t seem to care about their customers. When I questioned the previous year, it I got the following response: (Please note the first year I hadn’t moved, then I recently moved, which should have meant my area is cheaper, but they don’t give refunds like other insurance companies, but they’d be sure to charge you if you moved to a more expensive area. I have a cavachon, no known major risks, she was a puppy when I started the insurance and is now 2, so no major age risks. Also never any claims) 4Paws reply: Postcode / Address. While your address may not change from one year to another, how a particular address, or rather post code is rated can. This is as it is considered as ‘live’ information that can be subject to change dependent on the conditions in that particular area. As such one area of the country can rate very differently from another. It can sometimes even be adjoining postcodes in some instances. Pets Breed In respect of breed types, certain breeds are more predisposed to certain conditions as opposed to others; i.e. Sharpei’s and West Highland Terriers and renowned for suffering with skin complaints, whereas brachycephalic dog breeds such as Bulldogs and Pugs are more predisposed to suffering with breathing conditions. Therefore, the insurance risk in respect of a pets breed is also taken into consideration. Again, this is considered as ‘live’ information as breed popularity and increased risk can fluctuate from one year to another. Pets Age As pets do get older, particularly when they enter their more senior years (8 and beyond) they do carry with them an increased risk of developing later life illnesses or conditions, as such this also has to be taken into consideration at renewal. Pet Claims History In addition to these factors, and over the past few years, the insurance industry has seen a rise in the cost of the veterinary treatments; this is mainly due to the further improvements and advancements in veterinary medicine and procedures. This being said, the volume of claims being made against insurance policies has also increased significantly; this in turn has had some effect on the price of all of our customers’ policies. Note, their insurance is much cheaper online along with many other companies….please avoid unless 4Paws really care and do something about this. (Separate emotional note, how can people afford this in line with inflation every year…who gets a 25% pay rise every year!) EDIT: After leaving numerous messages, I have NOT received a call back after approx 5 weeks.

Despite not ever having claimed, the renewal quote inexplicably rose by nearly £100 - despite the same policy being available cheaper on a comparison web-site. Dreadful customer service when I called to query the rise. I find it appalling that for the first year the company quote cheap only to massively hike in future years. I would not recommend at all.

still waiting for a conversation with Craig Lambert ( Pet Manager ) regarding our clam, But always seems to be in meeting conveniently!!!. I want to discuss my clam and why they will not pay. There customer service is very unprofessional. I feel cheated by 4Paws insurance company. I took out this policy for peace of mind !! Instead all I've had is Hassle. if Craig has any decency, then please ring myself to discuss the issues, After all I ( was ) a loyal customer paying your wages. disgusting behaviour. Save your money.

Avoid this company like the plague!!! They are nothing but sharks they take the money on direct debit for payment then send a text saying couldn’t take it and say will take it again !!! Even though after checking with bank they have been paid absolutely disgusting this is the second time they have done this to me now have stopped all transactions via the bank now gone with my vets insurance. Avoid !!!!!! Customer service also dam rude when I rang the first time they did this !!!! Avoid

I have had a claim initially rejected by 4Paws, so called and spoke to a very emphatic handler, James B. After discussing issues I had against the refusal to pay, James told me that he would look into it for me and get back in contact as soon as possible. Within 1 hour, claim is now going to be successfully paid out today to my vets. Top work by James, really appreciate what he has done.
