Ireland | 16 July 2021Extremely disappointed in Sixt's predatory policies. They tried to charge an extra 110% in order use my credit card to pay for my fiance's booking. The lady behind the desk stated "this happens all the time", which is a clear indication these policies are created to catch people out. If this happens all the time you should make it more clear that the card name must match the booking name, and not hide that fact in terms and conditions. You also should flag this point online when we're entering payment details rather than when people arrive in person. We ended up having to pay 3 days car rental which was bitterly disappointing. I'll be going to of my way to dissuade people from using Sixt in future.

Ireland | 13 July 2021I wouldn't use them again ever. I was charged €80 extra on a €100 rental because I had a debit card not a credit card - almost doubled the cost of the rental. Avoid!

Ireland | 05 July 2021Terrible company in Dun Laoghaire. They charge double the agreed online price when you show up. Very rude staff. A joke. Liars and thieves. Disgraceful.

Ireland | 05 May 2021The team a Sixt Dun Laoghaire are honestly exceptional. I made a mistake on my booking, but Samantha and Steven were very helpful. They solve my problem and gave me a really good car for the days I needed it. Thanks so much for everything, guys. I really look forward to renting more cars from you!

Ireland | 02 January 2021Horrible experience with Carl the manager. (If that’s even his name) he was reluctant to give me his name after swearing at us all and telling us to go F ourselves. He left us all waiting 45 mins and wouldn’t open the gate at 9.40 to let us return the cars. We parked in the petrol station next door as no where to park. This is a vile branch and he thinks he’s invincible as he laughed in a customers face when asked who the manager was. He said he was and to F off. I’ve complained, wrote email and rang head office to complain and no one even replied. Horrible company to deal with in Ireland

Ireland | 16 December 202016/12/20 Today I rented a car from Sixt rent a car at Cork Airport. From the get go I received the worst customer care. This pick up location is not Covid safe. The male customer service attendant was not wearing a mask and kept putting his face around the safety screen and breathing on me and trying to touch my phone when I was showing him my reservations. I had to ask him twice not to touch my phone as I had no way to sanitize it. I received a very toxic masculine interaction. Any time I asked a question he talked over me. My company booked my car on Rentalcars.com. The Sixt sales team member verbally bashed Rentalcars.com and was trying to upsell me on Sixt full coverage insurance. He said that car brokering websites are awful and their insurance does not fully cover damages. (Why does Sixt use car brokering websites if they are so awful?). He did not explain charges properly. A €1500 would be put on my personal credit card, then he ran my card and told me a further €100 fuel hold would be put on the card after my card had already been run... At that point I could no longer afford the full coverage insurance at €400 that I was wanting to upgrade to. I told him he needs to tell people before applying holds on a card and exact charges and he said “well do you want to cancel booking” in a very demeaning tone. I would have loved to cancel booking but at that point I would have received only a quarter of what was paid as refund with cancellation charges. When I picked up the car it was filthy. The back seat and front passenger seat are all soiled. There was plastic bottle tops on the floor. I called a Dublin based customer support number for Sixt and spoke with very unhelpful customer support manager. He basically said this is our Covid protocol with customers... to which my reply was it is not good enough. No apology what so every in regards to the behavior of the sales team member I dealt with or experience I had. Sixt rent a car needs to be schooled on customer service and Covid 19 safe practices. They are not LGBTQIA+ friendly, I say this because of the intimidation I felt when dealing with the sales team member and gestures that were made toward me. Save yourself the head ache, do not rent a car from this company.

United Kingdom | 11 November 2020I was in a hurry and accidentally left my sun glasses in the car. Tried ringing sixt as soon as I realised but really hard to get hold of. When I finally got hold of a week later they said nothing was left in the car. Which I know it was on the dash for a fact. I believe if they haven’t been handed in my shades have been stolen by a member of staff. Rather than sixt investigate this. They blocked me on social media and stopped responding to my emails. I feel if they had acted sooner I would of been reunited with my sun glasses. How ever rather than look into the fact a member of their staff is stealing left possessions rather than hand them in they block me. I do not recommend this company. And would definitely pay a little extra to get a car with someone else

Ireland | 22 October 2020Always check you credit card charge after rental with Sixt/ Flizzr Ireland. They have unlawfully charged me for an extra day of rental which is being reviewed now by my solicitor. Sixt/ Flizzr are very dishonest company

United Kingdom | 31 August 2020I was really happy with the staff and the car but I booked the hire through a company called wisecars and what I wasn’t told by email or phone was that I would be charged a extra £150 for the hire on top of the rental cost and then because I didn’t use a credit card as I don’t have one I was told also to put a holding deposit of £100 down which I would get back when I drop the car off. I won’t be using that third party again and will direct next time.

Ireland | 17 August 2020Best car rental team I have ever used using them for while and recommend to my friends and family specially manager Derick and all staff always helpful and cheerful 😆

United Kingdom | 09 August 2020I had booked a Mercedes C class or similar, as I had flown to Ireland for a big occasion, and upon getting to the counter I was told there was no Mercedes and there was no backup car available in the same class. If they knew there were no cars available they could have told me via phone or email before I arrived and I could have made other arrangements, but they waited until I got to the counter. I was given a lower tiered car but was still charged the same price for the rental.

United Arab Emirates | 29 May 2020I just rent a car with sixt, I'm their regular for the last 2 months, I think it's worth mentioning. They gave me a car which was with one of the road tax expired a month before I took the car. No chances I would bother checking that since with covid-19 they have asked customers to be considerate that car wouldn't be inspected olat the pick up. I ended up getting stopped by garda, who gave me a harsh talk and e nearly got me into trouble. They let me go since I had my newborn and wife in the car. I rang them to disclose this issue which they never returned my call back and wouldn't take proper care on my calls. Asking customers to be considerate and not being considerate sounds hypocrite.

Ireland | 10 May 2020Flight COVID cancelled, everyone is understanding and payed me back, except SIXT. Shame on you.

Phillip Gageler
Australia | 04 May 2020Like so many others, we booked a car for seven days for our first holiday in Ireland. COVID-19 has resulted in our holiday being cancelled. We cannot leave Australia, flights have been cancelled, and Ireland is requiring self isolation, meaning you can't go anywhere. The airline and all pre-booked hotels have refunded all charges in full. But Sixt charge a cancellation fee equivalent to three days rental. Absolutely outrageous! They have relented a little and said that customers can put the cancellation fee toward a future rental, but it is highly unlikely we would be able to get to Ireland within the 12 month timeframe provided. This really is appalling behaviour and terrible customer service. Partly our mistake - not reading the fine print. Who would have ever imagined a cancellation of almost 50% on the total rental?

United Kingdom | 17 March 2020This was the first time I have ever used Sixt and I was extremely impressed. Arrived at Shannon airport they are off the airport site but they picked me up. A friendly representative completed the paperwork swiftly and with clarity and humour. The car was upgraded and the car provided was clean and worked well. On return the representative was the manager. Again quick check of the car and then a lift back to the airport. The whole experience was hassle free and at a very reasonable price. Would I use them again. Yes without hesitation.

United States | 13 March 2020On 3/13/20, I tried cancelling my car reservation due to the Corona Virus' situation worldwide & Sixt Rent-a-Car REFUSES to return our deposit. It's very sad that Sixt Rent-a-Car will take advantage of its customers during the virus situation that is killing people worldwide to steal the customers' money. Our government is the states has strongly suggested that its citizens limit all travel outside the US; therefore, given the global situation, I was forced to cancel my reservation of months of planning & Sixt Rent-a-Car will NOT return my money. My wife & I had wished to visit Ireland and drive through its beautiful country sites. However, at this time this is impossible! Thus, the reason why I'm writing this review for other customers to see how one company can take advantage of its customers' hard-earned money & savings for a vacation that had to be cancelled because of this worldwide epidemic. This is the office that is unwilling to return our deposit: South county Self Drive Ltd., Sixt Franchisee, Rochestown Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, Dublin, Ireland.

United Kingdom | 12 March 2020Derek and the boys at Sixt Shannon couldnt do enough for us Awesome Service and will be using them again for repeat business in the near future Thanks gents

United Kingdom | 07 March 2020Hired car via Elaine at Rochestown Avenue branch - great service both from her and from Joe at Dublin Airport (who upgraded me to a larger car - thank you Joe!). Very smooth service when leaving back the car too - on the courtesy bus to the airport within 5 minutes of driving up. Overall a very smooth, hassle-free experience - I will use Sixt again.
