I’ve just came back from having my 24 hour post op check & wanted to immediately write a review to express the gratitude I’m feeling! From the initial contact with the clinic it’s been an extremely positive experience! All the staff have been absolutely amazing! So friendly & helpful & a real pleasure to deal with! From the optometrists Parmdeep, Andras Harveen. On reception Andrea, Laila & Nicola & others that I have missed have all been so lovely as well as Holly the surgery manager. Chloe who has looked after us (husband had surgery on the 4th Nov) from the start has been totally wonderful! My surgeon Dr Sadiq totally brilliant & kept me informed throughout the surgery & as well as ringing me twice prior to the surgery! I cannot speak highly enough of everyone involved at Milton Keynes clinic & both myself & my husband would wouldn’t hesitate in recommending Optical Express!

Would also like to mention Mohammad Ghassan Ayoubi he was very calming and caring he made me feel at ease during lasik. I would recommend everyone to ask for him ! Great team 💥

My experience at Uxbridge was lovely, warm and professional. The team provides high level of care and is very informative. My surgery was completely pain-free and my surgeon Dr Ayoubi was very friendly and calming. Immediately after I felt some stinging and pain however after taking a nap as suggested, I woke up feeling much better. Overall my experience calmed my nerves entirely and has kept me very well informed. They’re with you every step of the way.

Great appointment at Dunfermline, today. Every member of the team was welcoming, friendly, and professional. They were also exceptionally clear in their communication with me. In terms of next steps, it was recommended that I don’t go forward with any procedure, at this time. I will be delighted to return to Optical Express for any future consultations.

Visited St Enoch branch today, on arrival spoke to Naomi who was very pleasant and a lovely smile. Naomi carried out the pre tests and then seen Rebecca for my test who was very pleasant and made me feel at ease. Great customer service from everyone. After all tests were complete I spoke to Ellie who was not pushy and gave me time to make up my mind about my glasses. Spoke to the manager Yvonne when leaving who was also lovely to deal with.

I am writing this review as I have had a really bad experience with Optical Express. I’ll try & keep it brief. My journey started in March 2022 having multi focal lenses fitted in both eyes. Straight after the operation the problems started with blurry vision but was told it will all settle down but it never so much so that I could not drive as soon as it got dark. I had to race home before the light started fading but was told it will settle down. It never I kept telling Optical Express that there is something wrong with my right eye but was told it will settle down. After numerous visitors the Liverpool branch they decided that I had clouding in my eyes & they would laser it away . This never worked all the time I would tell them there is something wrong with my right eye but just got you have 20/20 vision. which I really haven’t it’s ok sitting in a small room reading off a chart but when I look into the difference I can’t make anything out. after countless visits to Liverpool branch they decided to change my lenses to single vision whit the right eye done first. All the time I told the there is something wrong with my right eye so I hoped this change would rectify this. It never but night time driving was better not good but better. After numerous visits to Liverpool again I was told it will settle down after I had my left eye done . It never. I was eventually told I was left with an astigmatism in my right eye (which is what I paid £6500 to fix) which would eventually settle to a point I won’t need glasses so there’s nothing else OpticaI Express will do . It’s 2025 I am £6500 down & still wearing glasses. I know this is a long review but believe me this is the short version. I most definitely do not recommend Optical Express

Wolverhampton Branch…… text said our appointment was 8.30am. Arrived at address given. Do signage what do ever to say we at right place. Phoned Angus at call centre. He told me my appointment was 9am. Angus tried calling the surgery to see if in correct place no one answered. Angus getting angry with me as it wasn’t 9am and that’s what time the surgery would be open. No direct phone number for us to and see if we in the correct place. 9.05am lady turned up and surprised when I asked her if we were at OpticalExpress. No apologies. Finally got inside the building at 9.20am…… Not impressed so far

It was the St Enoch branch - seen by Ashley and Yvonne - both really helpful

Staff training required, as staff are under the impression they can charge customers the £50 for canceling the appointment after they receive a call advising optical express can't provide the service to the customer.

Firstly, Optical Express were so quick to respond within 10 mins of me making initial enquiry via FB on a Sunday evening. I had first consultation within the week, then agreed the procedure date there and then. The service, facilities, admin team (special shout out for Lorna), clinicians and the surgeon ALL provided an excellent first class service. I was absolutely amazed with the improvement to my eye sight the day following lens replacement procedure (both eyes) and only a week on, it continues to improve. I am so thrilled and would urge anyone even with mild cataracts to consider it. Thank you Optical Express 🙏

I had my first consultation and scans at the Lakeside site. I decided to go ahead once I had my quote so I booked at convenience to me to have my procedure on a Saturday and check up the following day on the Sunday, so that I would be able to get someone to take me both days and I booked the Dartford branch as it was the closest surgery and most convenient for distance and had free parking. A week or two before the surgery I had to take antibiotics and needed to check that it was ok to still have the surgery done having antibiotics or how many days clear I needed to be of antibiotics before surgery. I made numerous phone calls to try to find out and it was as if this question had never been asked before, this process was time consuming and I had to keep chasing as I was told someone would call me back and they didn’t. Several days later I got another phone call to say the surgeons phone call which was booked the Saturday before the surgery had been cancelled and that there was only one other appointment to speak to the surgeon before the operation, if I didn’t take it the surgery would have to be rescheduled that had been booked for months and a lump it or like it attitude which I really wasn’t happy about. I had arranged my schedule and holidays around the surgery knowing all the activities I couldn’t do and not being able to drive for up to a week afterwards. So I had to cancel plans to accommodate the surgeons video call. Then on the Monday before the surgery I had another phone call to say I needed yet more scans and would have to get them done asap and take a trip to Dartford, it would take half a day which I didn’t have at short notice. Not only my time that I didn’t have but the additional cost of fuel to me. I had the original scans done months before and they told me so late I found this unsatisfactory. I was then told that Lakeside didn’t have the facility to have these scans hence they were never done originally. Again why was we never made aware that this was the case as we would never have booked the original consultation at Lakeside and would have gone to Dartford? I questioned if my partner needed these additional scans done for his surgery as he couldn’t just drop everything at work to take half a day off at short notice. This led to yet more phone calls to get answers and it was suggested yes he might need more scans. I felt I needed to organise your staff and think for them so we weren’t inconvenienced yet further. Therefore I suggested he get the scans booked on the day of my surgery at Dartford as he was the person driving me. I was assured this would be done and booked and I requested a phone call back to confirm this had been booked. I waited hours but nothing, so yet another phone call, but Lakesides phone just rang and rang and eventually I was diverted to head office so I had to start again from the beginning to explain. Head office said they’d get Lara to phone me after she finished with a customer. Another 2.5 hours went past and still no phone call so I phoned Lara at Lakeside yet again. She told me she did ring me and it rang and went to voicemail and she left a message. This was either a lie or she phoned someone else as I had no missed calls or voicemail. When I went to Dartford for my additional scans I double checked with the receptionist that my partners additional scans had indeed been booked ok, they knew nothing about it as Lara from Lakeside clearly hadn’t let them know. So yet more phone calls to chase this as Dartford said my word wasn’t good enough. My partner then got involved because I wasn’t getting anywhere so both of us were trying to get this resolved. Then a couple of days before my surgery I had a phone call to say my surgery could no longer be done at Dartford and that I’d have to go to Chelmsford instead. This meant the additional scans organised at Dartford for my partner that we had eventually managed to book had been a waste of time and now needed to be reorganised for Chelmsford as that’s where we would now be. Again I’d scheduled Dartford for convenience as we could get there and back not having to leave our dogs for too long. I was told I could cancel which I really didn’t want to as we had holidays booked and activities that I wouldn’t I wouldn’t be able to carry out after surgery because of all the restrictions, so at very short notice I had to get doggie daycare organised, again extra fuel and our time to drive much further. When we arrived there was no free parking like Dartford. We’d only been there 5 mins and we could hear a customer complaining as he’d also been sent from Dartford but somehow didn’t have the correct lenses for him so cancelled him on the spot. As if I wasn’t anxious enough had they messed mine up to? My 1 month check up I waited over an hour past my appointment time to be seen. I emailed customer services about my experience but never got a reply, no surprise there!

I have waited three months after my lens replacement surgery to post a review, to be confident that there was no after care or change which impacted my score. The whole experience, from my first enquiry in mid-September, through to surgery at the end of October, and then final sign-off in late November, was painless (both metaphorically and, importantly, literally). The care and professionalism exhibited by every member of staff with whom I had contact - which was many! - was first class. The outcome, beyond my expectations. The surgery itself (which, I imagine, is the scary bit for those thinking about this) was not exactly enjoyable, but far from traumatic. Absolutely painless, it was still definitely 'uncomfortable' - having your eye propped open for ten minutes, even if well irrigated, is hardly fun - and there is a scary bit when your own lens has been removed and you realise that you are actually and totally blind in that eye, before the new lens is slid into place and the lights come (for the first time in your life) properly into focus. It's a bit clever. The 'recovery' time is short. By that evening (I had my procedure at about 11:00) I could see properly through both eyes, with minimal discomfort. 56 hours after the surgery I was at a football match (as a spectator!) and feeling fine. I could easily have been back at work on the second day after the op. Taking eyedrops for four weeks was a bit boring, but hardly a major inconvenience. I did not get any infection or serious dryness, and now (four months on) I am not aware of any dryness in my eyes at all. I have worn glasses from the age of 3 or 4. I had moderate myopia and astigmatism. I was 63 when I had the surgery, and now I have neither. As I was warned, I have lost my (hitherto excellent) close vision, and now need reading glasses for anything within arm's length. I have a dozen pairs of reading glasses (£2 a pair on Amazon) and am barely inconvenienced. What do I like about having what my friends call 'fighter pilot vision' for the first time in my life? Walking in rain, skiing without glasses steaming up under my goggles, actually seeing handball at a football match (rather than just relying on the crown noise), waking in the night and being able to make my way to the loo without groping for my glasses first... small things. I had previously been troubled by halos when driving at night, and now much less so (although there are some barely noticeable artefacts around bright lights against a dark background, it is much less troubling than before the op). I had a total of four appointments up to and including the surgery and one more afterwards. I had two telephone consultations - including one in which it was explained that I was not a candidate for multi-focal lenses because of the shape of my eye (hence the reading glasses). The precision of the prescription assessment was far beyond what is possible in an ordinary optician's and the measurements were double, triple and quadruple checked. The total cost was £7k, which is a lot or a little depending on your personal financial circumstances. For me it was good value (and think what I will save on glasses over the rest of my life) but still a hefty sum. No regrets whatsoever.

On arrival I was greeted by friendly staff who were very professional, I was taken to have an in depth eye test by a young lady by the name of Kerry and then in to see an optician Who told me my prescription was incorrect for the glasses I was wearing. I was given some information of the best solution to my sight problems and decided to go for lens replacement.

Overall I cannot fault the service and treatment I received. From reception through to post op I was made to feel at ease. I was kept informed all the way through and the procedure was nothing at all to worry about. I would have given 5 stars if my treatment appt hadn’t changed causing a wasted journey. I would highly recommend Optical Express to anyone considering correction surgery. The results the day after surgery are already far better than I was expecting so I am ecstatic 🤩
