United Kingdom | 28 January 2025We needed two firm and very supportive sofas (long term back injury); showroom staff were very friendly and seemed knowledgable. They steered us to a particular model of sofa that would apparently meet our needs, so we bought two. However, whilst the sofas that were delivered looked the same as the showroom model, within a few weeks of light use the sofas deteriorated rapidly and at 3 months old they now look 10 years old and we can’t use them without pain and discomfort. They are excessively saggy and stretched. We went back to the store and sat in the showroom model again (which is 3 years old) and the quality was far superior to the ones we had received. We complained and Customer services arranged an inspection; the inspector suggested that additional padding could be put in the seats but not the arms of our sofas, therefore repair was not going to resolve the problems. He also said a webbing based sofa was unsuitable for our needs and that we should have been advised to purchase a sprung sofa. Barker & Stonehouse wouldn’t offer any other solution and advised us to contact the Ombudsman, so we did that. Since then we managed to identify a make and model that would meet our requirements and offered to pay the difference to upgrade and replace. This would be in line with Customer Rights Legislation. However B&S have now declined to engage further, stating that the case is closed and they will await the outcome of the Ombudsman.

United Kingdom | 28 January 2025Had excellent service today at the Middlesbrough outlet store. We were well looked after by Nathan who was so helpful and give us excellent service. The only downside to shopping in the outlet is that it is so very cold I honestly think it was warmer outside then it was inside the store. It isn't a very nice experience shopping for furniture when it's so cold in a store and I would expect better from a store such as Barker and Stonehouse. We visited the Barker and Stonehouse store at Teesside park before going to the outlet and what a difference it was that store was lovely and warm so come on Barker and Stonehouse we as customers deserve far better so please get some heating on the outlet store!

Fully assembled everything and checked everything was as we wanted and gave some really useful tips about future care and maintenance of our furniture. As a cherry on top they were really lovely guys as well, funny and personable. They even took away all the packaging, I feel like the kitchen is cleaner after they arrived than before!

United Kingdom | 28 January 2025I don't even know where to start with this. The year is 2024. At the beginning of October, I purchased two sofas from Barker and Stonehouse in Leeds. By that time, they were promoting a "pre-Christmas delivery guarantee." During the purchase process, we selected a fabric that was available in their fabric samples but not in their system. A salesperson in the store assured us that since the fabric we chose was for a snugger, which is not a large sofa, it should be fine for the suppliers to serve our order. He consulted with someone who I believe was the manager, and we proceeded with the purchase. The salesperson also pressured us to purchase insurance. Although we were initially hesitant, we ultimately agreed out of pressure. It turned out I found here many complaints about it. I regret that choice. Anyway, the estimated delivery date for our sofas to be delivered was the end of November, given a six-week delivery timeframe. The salesperson mentioned there could be slight delays due to the fabric, but assured us that it would definitely arrive before Christmas. However, at the beginning of December, I received a call from their aftersales team informing me that the sofas were delayed and would not be delivered until the end of January!—almost four months after the purchase. Throughout this time (today is 28/01/2025), I attempted to inquire about their policy on compensation for delays, but their responses were always vague. I have been kept in the completely dark. They kept saying, "We will discuss the issue when the sofa arrives in our stock." There were no updates provided, not even through email whether the supplier confirmed the sofa will be ready or not. NOTHING! I even asked for a contact email for management to address a complaint, but they refused to give me the manager’s name. They gave the first name of the person who "sees the emails". I find it quite absurd that I have spent thousands of pounds on a product, yet it was up to me to seek updates on my extremely delayed order. It feels as though they are doing me a favour! Today is January 28th, 2025, and they promised that the sofas would arrive in stock by January 31st, with delivery to follow. To be honest, I really doubt this will happen. In my experience living in various countries across Europe and the Americas, I have never encountered such poor customer service. I wish I had paid attention to what other customers who left one- or two-star reviews had said about this company. It shocked me to see so many similar experiences. Since I was not provided with a specific channel to address my complaint, I feel it's necessary to make it public.

United Kingdom | 28 January 2025When I ordered my Table & Chairs in October I was told they would be delivered before Christmas. I didn’t receive any lead times so I called up to be told it would be sometime in January I would be receiving the items. I was a little annoyed but understood they’d probably be busy over the festive period. Nevertheless here we are on the 28th January and my Table & Chairs have finally arrived. A huge shout out to Marty & Ish from Blaydon who delivered the items in excellent condition. They called me half an hour before arriving to give me the heads up. When they got here they assembled the table with care by using protective sheets and also got rid of all packaging. They were a very quick and efficient duo.
