Mark Watson provided an excellent service when I first decided to sell my property, ensuring that everything was done in accordance with my wishes. The 'Property Tracking Message Board' was created and provided me with real-time access to a host of information such as status updates, property statistics and a diary to name but a few. Alexandra Wilson introduced herself as the property administrator and proved excellent in that role. Finlay Smith and Findlay Hope helped complete the house sale, with Kenneth Daley dealing with the issues raised by the new owners. I am so happy that I chose to use McEwan Fraser Legal as they provided an excellent service from start to finish. I liked them so much that I also used them when purchasing my new property.

McEwan Fraser got the sale of my flat off to a flying start through Ken Mesiak. They delivered on everything he promised me including a significant offer over the home report value which I must admit I was skeptical about but it was to come to fruition. Which I was delighted about. The dialogue between myself and the office staff was constant up until the final offer was accepted. My only gripe with the whole process was after the offer had been accepted, I made numerous attempts to contact the solicitor who was originally dealing with my sale of my property and heard nothing back for a few weeks which did cause me a fair bit of discomfort. Finally I heard back from the legal team one day and it was Declan McCulloch who from the first time I spoke to him was absolutely fantastic. Constant dialogue, prompt replies to my questions, a calming presence and overall the main man who got the deal over the line. I couldn’t speak highly enough of his professionalism.

Cannot thank enough to Adeeb, Anya, and the whole McEwan Fraser legal team, for the outstanding support and professional advice throughout the whole process of buying a new house, especially as this was an unknown experience to us as buyers. Hats off to the entire team!

After reviewing 3 different estate agents I landed on McEwan Fraser to list my flat in Aberdeen. Scott Marshall who initially valued my property came across very professional and seemed to believe my property would sell quickly with the right marketing behind it. I’d say Scott was by far the best part of the experience and although his estimation was out a little bit over the home report, I still appreciate his time and commitment while I dealt with him. A note for anyone listing in Aberdeen: Scott mentioned how using McEwan Fraser would allow potential buyers from down south to see the property as it isn’t just listed on ASPC. This is true with them using sites such as S1 Homes, Zoopla etc however it doesn’t include ESPC which I thought would have been a big marketplace. I also got the feeling speaking with my administrator that McEwan Frasers Aberdeen knowledge isn’t the best and they probably prefer Edinburgh which is understandable. The property portal is good but a bit confusing to use initially. View counts are behind a couple weeks, McEwan’s website only ever shows 1 view a week, not sure if I had to give home reports etc. I had several viewings before a buyer expressed interest in my flat with a verbal offer. I got back to my administrator explaining the offer but no follow up action was taken. I had to request she phoned the buyer back which then resulted in an offer. I asked my administrator to only let me know of offers above a certain amount which resulted in multiple wasted phone calls with silly offers. I did query why on the website they claim to be ‘top of the field negotiators’ when I did all the hard work and McEwan Fraser just acted like a middleman. Of the estate agents I got quotes for, McEwan Fraser was more expensive and I thought they could offer a more premium and hands off experience but obviously not. I had to continually ask my administrator the same question regarding a contract issue and why my flat wasn’t on a property search with no response, both on the phone and over e-mail. It was very frustrating to be ignored time and time again. After accepting an offer I was put in contact with an assigned solicitor… or 2. I tried to phone one of the solicitors but she only worked part-time, 2 days a week - not ideal for a solicitor when trying to push a sale through. I managed to get ahold of the other solicitor who took on my property, agreeing for a phone call update which she missed 2 days - couldn’t have been that important of a call anyway I guess. I didn’t expect e-mails back and forth to be 100% formal but the e-mails ranged from multiple basic spelling mistakes of my street name to full e-mails that was completely incoherent. I wish I could add pictures of e-mails because the laugh I got out of some is the only reason this review is 3 stars and not 2. To wrap up the sale with my solicitor I got a phone call to confirm my bank details. Bearing in mind this was the first time I had spoken to my solicitor because she couldn’t be bothered with the welcome phone call, there was no mention of a congratulations on the sale, she just asked for my bank details then hung up. After several weeks of my property being for sale I still had no for sale sign for my top-floor flat. After requesting another one it wasn’t until I was out for a walk a week later I noticed it at the bottom of the flat block propped up in a bush. It took me taking the sign apart and displaying it in my window myself. After my property was sold I also had to request the sign was taken away a number of weeks before my move out date and even after I moved out it was still laying at the bottom of the stairs. Not something anyone should pay £50 for in my opinion. Before I paid my fees I did raise all the points above, but McEwan Fraser believe the service I got was what they expect and the initial quote stood. I did however receive £50 off because the for sale signs are contracted by a 3rd party - magic. Maybe I expected too much from McEwan Fraser and should have saved the £1,000 extra I paid for their service over other conveyor belt type firms. Oh well, lesson learnt.
