United States | 12 December 2024I had trouble choosing my dates on the website, but when I called, I got quick, thorough, friendly assistance. This is our fourth time booking with Cruise America and we have definitely been pleased with the service in the past.

United States | 05 December 2024I would give the first four nights of our trip five stars. We absolutely loved the experience and had a wonderful time up until night five. At this point we find ourselves at the campground on the south rim of the Grand Canyon. We had made dinner and retired to bed early. About 1030 pm my husband got up to use the bathroom. After several minutes in the back of the camper, I heard him fall. I yelled his name and he was completely unresponsive. I turn on the light and he was on the floor looking at me but clearly dazed and confused. I helped him to the dinette to sit down and he said he didn't know what had happened, but he felt very dizzy. Once I thought he was OK I popped into the bathroom myself and within seconds I am hit with an overwhelming nausea and tunnel vision to the point that I thought I was going to pass out. I yelled to him that something was wrong. He had opened up the outside door and sitting on the step. At this point all I remember is him helping me out of the RV and saying something about gas. We are in our early 50s, very fit and my husband is retired military/law-enforcement with a lot of first responder experience. He knew immediately it was carbon monoxide poisoning. The heat had been on very low, and I had left the vent open above the kitchen, which probably helped save our lives as the carbon monoxide was venting through that and had not reached the detector under the dinette. It was a truly terrifying experience, and at least two hours before the full effects of the poisoning had started to leave our systems. There is no ER at the Grand Canyon and the clinic had closed at 5 PM. Calling an ambulance from Flagstaff would have been a wait of almost 2 hours. We did a quick online search of what to do and spent the better part of the next hour outside, breathing deeply trying to clear our lungs. We ended up in a hotel that night certain it was not safe to spend another minute inside the unit. When the clinic opened the next morning, we went, but were told there was really nothing they could do for us because they did not have the test for carbon monoxide. At this point, we are feeling significantly better so we decide to just drive to Flagstaff with the windows down (November) to the garage that CA recommended. The technician there checked out the unit for several hours, but said he could not be 100% positive there was not a leak and he personally would not spend the night in the unit. So our last three nights of our RV trip out west ended up in hotels. Plus, we had to throw out the remainder of our food because we were concerned about lighting the propane stove in the unit. A truly wonderful trip had turned into a bit of a nightmare at the end. It has been two weeks now and we have given CA the opportunity to do the right thing. If you are reading this, you most likely have also read the only real negative side of Cruise America seems to be their customer service. We did not intend to have to use customer service so we disregarded those reviews. However, after investigating the unit, Cruise America has come back and offered us a whopping $99 refund for an eight day trip as well as a $75 credit to use towards a future rental. I understand there are a lot of scammers out there, but this is not who we are. Our unit number was 200040. I would warn anyone renting from this company and specifically receiving this unit that there is definitely something wrong with it. We did not run the generator. We did not have the engine on. There was no propane leak. This was carbon monoxide and they are very fortunate they are not deal with the aftermath of finding two dead bodies in the unit at the Grand Canyon. I will happily remove this review if Cruise America exhibits some integrity in this situation. We are not asking for a full refund, but rather reimbursement for the three nights in a hotel. Anyone renting from them should be warned to bring your own carbon monoxide detector with you and don't assume you won't have to deal with customer service at some point.

United States | 03 December 2024Do not! I repeat, DO NOT rent an RV from this incompetent crooked company. Cruise America does not maintain their equipment. Everything, and I mean everything, broke on our rental. Pilot light for the hot water did not work. Five days without hot water. Starter on the stove did not work. The refrigerator broke after two days on the road ( Cruise America’s ridiculous fix action, we can spend $75 on an ice chest ). Front end of the RV out of alignment. Vehicle pulled hard to the right. A/C Heater failed after about a week and a half. Their touted customer service, what a joke. The customer service is located in the Philippines. and they had no clue where we were at in the US to advise where the nearest repair facility was located. In all customer service never assisted or repaired any of the items that failed to work. There is no insulation.Freezing cold at night, you have to run heater. I highly recommend. not to rent an RV from rip off Cruise America.

United States | 02 December 2024The salesperson I spoke with by phone was extremely helpful and friendly. He helped me to understand all the policies and possible fees associated with my rental. He also took me step by step through the entire rental experience and helped me choose exactly what i needed for the week of RV rental. He was familiar with the area I planned to travel to and helped guide me with options for milage and rental needs.

United Kingdom | 18 November 2024Plenty of people clearly have a great experience with CA. We join the list of those that did not. Having endured multiple issue with our rental unit, on our return we sought to engage with CA towards a fair and reasonable outcome (i.e. an appropriate level of compensation). The dialogue started nicely enough - and to be fair to CA they have never challenged the issues that we have reported. However, we have reached an impasse in terms of their view on what is an acceptable level of compensation, which falls well short of compensating their failure to provide the contracted services and our loss of time attempting to resolve this. And in CA's most recent response, they quoted small print of the agreement that suggests they take no responsibility for anything other than mechanical breakdown of the rental unit. So if like us, your kitchen sink leaks grey water into the cabin meaning your can't use the kitchen properly. Or if the hot water heater doesn't work meaning you can't use the shower. And if that means you have to change the plans you had to make use of primitive sites. And if you spend time trying to find landline phones to call CA if you are somewhere without any mobile reception (e.g. pretty much anywhere in Yellowstone). And if under CA's instruction you spend valuable vacation time driving around auto shops trying to get fixes to the unit that you've paid them to rent. Then it seems that this is not their responsibility. So how will the dice roll for you? PS: This would have been a 1 star review but all the staff working for CA that we have dealt with (at the rental location, the CA Support Team etc. have all been really courteous) hence the 2 stars. PPS: If you are thinking of renting then I suggest you review the rental agreement carefully and make sure you are willing to accept what is implied in the event that things don't work out for you.

United Kingdom | 13 November 2024We too hired an R,V, from Las Vegas, it was dirty and had cracked dirty cups, and dirty utensils. It felt like driving a public toilet until cleaned the tanks. Curtains were torn and mended shower curtain. Doubt if the tank was full after filling to full, damaged windscreen and just a tired - team did not seem to have a good attitude towards customers. Took back to San Francisco two days early and stayed in hotel.
