About New Zealand School of Food and Wine

Founded by Celia Hay, the New Zealand School of Food & Wine has been educating the next generation of baristas, chefs, restaurant & café managers, sommeliers and wine professionals, hospitality- tourism entrepreneurs as well as people who just love good food since 1995. Located in Auckland's Viaduct, our NZQA New Zealand Government accredited qualifications offer practical hands-on cooking and hospitality-tourism focused certificates, taught by a team of chefs, restaurant managers and wine professionals who are experts in their field and focused on the success of our students.

The five days went by very quickly. The teacher was very knowledgeable and taught me a lot of what I needed to know to work as a barista. It was good to meet both teachers and classmates.

I went into the course with zero experience and really not knowing what it actually entailed (as I was offered a job in the bar adjoining the kitchen where I am employed). The course opened up the reality of what actually goes on behind the scenes, so to speak and now I understand why bartenders can be treated so badly by the public, who have no idea of the laws and compliances put in place. The zoom was very informative and my assessment went smoothly, although there was one question that required me to read through a section of the workbook over and over again. I do wonder if it may have threw a few other people off as well.

Teacher was good and same classmates was nice too. It’s an international students! Although it was strict overall, she strict us the knowledge and techniques we needed. If I had to say, it would have been a little easier if there were fewer people, and if each person had spent a little more time learning how to make milk steam.

The tutor was friendly and clear and very enthusiastic about coffee, which made learning a pleasure. I enjoyed that we learned about the history, geography and production of coffee as well as plenty of hands on learning at the coffee machine.

I enjoyed the course. While it was perhaps a bit basic for me, my observation of the other students was that they would have gained a great deal of knowledge about New Zealand wine, and would have been very helpful for them in their careers and businesses. The course text book was excellent and provided a great overview of all aspects of wine in New Zealand .I enjoyed the tastings and appreciated being able to taste through a range of excellent examples of our different varietals. I am sure that the students would feel a good deal more confident with their knowledge of New Zealand wine.

Nice to be there have WEST leave 1 class. It is like upgrading my wine knowledge. Franck is a great tutor, in the class he is always very clear to explain each part of the wine region and variety......

I found the content and delivery very relevant to my needs. The presentation itself was slightly frustrated by the constant buffering of the presentation, I am thinking that this was due to there being upwards if sixty people on line at the same time. Having said that I obtained a great understanding of the subject matter. The feedback from the assessment was first class. All in all a very worthwhile exercise. Thank you.

"Certificate in Barista and Service Skills Micro-Credential"に日本から参加しました。世界各国からの参加者とワイワイガヤガヤと楽しく実践的なスキルを身につけることができました。先生もフレンドリーでプロフェッショナルです。英語は IELTS 5相当が前提と主催者から事前に言われました。日本の英検2級相当なのですが、実際はもう少し上のレベルが必要だとは感じました。エスプレッソベースのコーヒー作りに関する英単語を事前に確認しておくとトレーニングの理解が早いかもしれません。
