United Kingdom | 07 June 2021They did not provide our information to Solicitor and disappeared just after the payment was done. Impossible to contact Mark after the payment was made. I would not advise them - particularly if you are a first time buyer and without experience. You will have to chase everything yourself. Edit: After the review, we have been promptly contacted by Joshua Harper who has been extremely understanding of our case. He promptly changed our Solicitor - and follow up with us constantly to understand what could be amended from the star. Despite the stress (probably due to overworked Solicitors for the Stamp Duty Holyday), we have been provided a new one and we are continuing with them. They are available for clarification and are a good team to ask for advice regarding each Step. I cannot recommend Joshua more.

United Kingdom | 03 June 2021Originally about a year ago, sought a quote for the sale and purchase of a property. The quote was good and they were quick to follow up to secure my business. Unfortunately several months later my sale (due to cladding issues) and consequently my purchase fell through. However I still sought to purchase a property in 2021 as an additional home. The solicitor instructed on my behalf by homeward legal were not on the panel for my new mortgage provider therefore have gone with a new solicitor. One thing that made me choose Homeward legal was their no completion no fee clause. However several months on from changing my solicitor and informing them, I am yet to hear from them, despite my frequent emails and calls, to get my money back. It’s very frustrating. Although they are quick to call back and contact you to get new business, once you ask for your money back as a part of a contractual obligation, it’s impossible to get in contact. I would be very wary of using Homeward Legal and from my personal experience advise against it! I will continue to chase. It would be great for a representative to contact me if they see this review.

United Kingdom | 02 June 2021Total waste of money. Whilst they have a great CRM system that recognises who you are when you call back, unfortunately that is about it. There is no real help when you have issues with solicitors they assign to your sale or purchase. They clearly seem to use some form of lowest cost, least service, greatest distance away model when assigning a solicitor. Even Ryanair would be embarrassed. You would hope they would be going on positive feedback but it seems quite the contrary. Complaints about the solicitor - in my case Alexandergracelaw - are given a cursory glance and you are fobbed off. Then nothing further to help or check progress. The solicitor takes weeks to do nothing, makes incorrect statements about progress and contacts with other parties, makes promises it doesn’t honour and does absolutely nothing to progress the transactions. Their complaints process is more useless than their Conveyancing process (You can hardly call it a process). (I see I am not alone in thinking they are shambolic - check their Google reviews). Call me a skeptic but I am almost sure their positive ones probably came from their families - or some VERY lucky clients. How can a solicitor have so many bad reviews and some glowing ones? Homeward should stop using them if they care about their reputation. The surveyor appointed by Homeward was laughable - telling me I should get gas appliances checked when there is no gas in the village let alone the house. How good is the rest of his report I wonder? The searches are also probably not worth much as a lot of them seem to be backed up by insurance that broadly speaking says ‘we didn’t actually check this but if you find any issues later you can always claim on our insurance’. Maybe that’s the norm these days with everything done electronically but it doesn’t fill you with confidence. I am sure everything will get blamed on COVID whereas in the past it would have been GDPR! I guess you get what you pay for and I guess you have to realise that consolidators like Homeward have no loyalty to us, Joe-public but more to the solicitor, search company or surveyor as that is where they make money. We probably buy the occasional house so if they never deal with us again they don’t really care. I am sure they will trot out the usual line about service matters to them and they will investigate- but they had their chance and failed me - so take this response with a hefty pinch of salt. You are tied to them as even with the no sale no fee you still have to remain with them to use money paid on a subsequent purchase - or lose it (which may be worth it in the long run!) Better to go direct to a local solicitor that cares about their reputation. You may pay more but the heartache and delays experienced as a result of the shower this lot used in my case won’t be worth the small saving you might make. I am mow building my case to take Alexandergracelaw to the legal ombudsman though I have my doubts if it will actually do any good. Probably should cut my losses and sack the lot of them and start again. Updates to follow - watch this space as the disaster unfolds.
