United States | 07 March 2023Absolutely do NOT recommend this company. We need a replacement window due to a fire. I spoke with a rep on November16-she told me she was ordering the window. In January I spoke with a different rep who emailed me both a copy of my “order” as well as a “ETA” on delivery of my window. I just spoke with a rep who informed me my window was never ordered, and it would be an additional 18-22 weeks. When I questioned the rep I spoke with today about representatives from this company providing misleading information about my window being reordered, she became very rude, and hung up on me. I will be contacting corporate.

United States | 04 March 2023Ordered 18 Windows, 9 of which closed on their own like a guillotine. They said they'd order replacement valences to fix. One window was completely replaced. When they installed the windows they leaned ladders against my vinyl siding without covering the ends of the ladder, so the ladder broke through the siding in 6 places. They said they'd match the siding and repair. Sealant around the windows was less than average. The windows themselves allow heat in the spring to come in like crazy. Not what the salesperson showed. They've been out here seven times so far, and each person that says they are going to return my call after they follow up on something has failed to do so and the next person has no idea what is going on from the last person. This week I had an appointment to finish everything with an 8-10 appointment time. They showed up at 12:00, didn't speak or understand english again, so they sat in their truck till 12:30 till their boss (UWD uses 3rd party contractors) arrived that spoke english. He had them replace the one window, promised a callback by the end of the day, He never called back. Now, when I call UWD customer service, which I did multiple days and left multiple messages, all I get is a recording to leave a message. Very poor customer service.

United States | 15 February 2023I had my windows replaced by Universal Windows Direct about a year ago, and was very pleased with the install process and the install team. The windows are good quality and I’ve been enjoying them for a year. Today I had my front door, side, light, sill and storm door replaced by Universal Windows Direct. John Bautz was the crew leader of the team. John and his team did a wonderful job on installation and clean up and making sure I knew everything about the door. They even uninstalled and reinstalled my doorbell for me. The new door and seals very well and looks great. I would recommend Universal Windows Direct for window and door replacements. I would welcome John’s team back for replacements or installations in the future.

United States | 02 February 2023Our experience with Universal was seamless and smooth starting with my 1st conversation with a salesman at a holiday event and ending with our installation by Jeff today. We only had 1 window to install and we feared that nobody would be willing to come out for 1 window, but nobody made us feel like the job wasn't worth the trouble. The pricing was the lowest out of the 3 estimates we received. Everything happened when it was supposed to. The window looks great.

United States | 10 January 2023Called 9/19/22 because I had a window leaking. Tech was scheduled 2 days later and adjusted the latch,in the process he cracked the glass. I was told a new window had to be ordered. Fast forward to 12/26/22 and a tech shows up with a pane of glass and says he can't replace it, A new window has to be ordered. It's now 1/9/23 and I'm still getting the run around. I'm very disappointed with this company and I won't be doing anymore business with them.

United States | 08 January 2023DO NOT USE THEM!! Universal Windows Direct had failed me at every step of the process. The free consultation that is boasted was rescheduled twice. I trusted them and signed the contract in spring of 2022. My installation was set for July of 2022. In between that time, not a single person called to confirm anything. Their automated emails came up but I can tell they were just automated and not actually synced with the process as none of the emails matched up with where I was actually at in the process. After the consultation, somebody was supposed to measure my windows. Nobody showed up. I CALL THEM and I get “Oh the date had to be switched.” Okay, but when did you plan on telling me? I didn’t think ghosting was a tactic that corporations practiced. Okay so the rescheduled measurement date, somebody shows up, takes the measurements and leaves very quickly. I didn’t think anything of it. I called them the day before my installation date, because again nobody knows how to work a phone there, and I the. They informed me there was a delay. Where was the email? Why didn’t anyone reach out? Why are you still taking my money? Some time passes, we’re in late fall at this point, and my rescheduled installation date has arrived. The guy comes in and takes one look and says these measurements aren’t right and we’ll have to reschedule. This guy doesn’t have a single window with him. Som I’m pretty sure this was just a cover up. At this point I called their lender (Green Sky) and tell them to stop payments. I do not believe I should have to pay until the installation is complete and I’m satisfied. I then learned that they lied to their lender and say I had them installed and I was satisfied. I asked her for them to prove it with any type of conforms. She couldn’t because there was none. So now the payments are on hold. Universal Windows Direct lied to their lender from September all the way to January insisting the job was finished. This poor lady was stuck between us calling me biweekly to see if UWD has ever reached out or finished the project. Surprise, surprise when I say neither has happened. So then I threaten legal action because I just want my ml eh back no don’t care anymore, there politicians more honest than this company. Finally in the year of 2023 the somehow managed, 7 months later, to install 8 windows. No I’m not giving them anymore than 1 star. If I could give them a negative rating I would. I don’t care about the delays. I really don’t, 2020 messed up a lot of companies, small businesses and major corporations. Anything could have happened and honestly, that’s life. My problem is this company lied from the beginning of the process to the very end and then had the audacity to suggest they deserve a gold rating. Nobody has reached out to discuss the delays, offer compensation or anything for their lack of integrity and lacking customer service. Why I’m the world would o ever recommend this company to anyone? I wouldn’t. They’re awful. Also, keep in mind that their contract states that they can take the payment in full if they feel like it. The job doesn’t even have to be completed. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY.

The operations manager offered to install on a Saturday so I didn't have to take off work again and I was satisfied with this. My doors took longer due to supply chain issues which was not UW fault. These were installed today and Ryan L was great!

United States | 04 December 2022Nick was my installer. He was very professional. He cleaned up all debris from the install both inside and out. Trim looked perfect inside and out. He finished around 530 pm. During the night there was a huge storm that brought high winds and a lot of rain. My windows are awesome! Kudos to Nick!!

United States | 29 October 2022My father ordered windows for his home and waited months to get them in. He was given 3 different dates of when they would be there and in the end the instal date changed again. Moving to the day of instal and all the windows get ripped out of his house and then the installer realized 4 out of 8 windows were to small. The installer even said he wouldn't put them in his own home this way. When they contacted the Job supervisor he spoke to my father and the installer who both said the windows were the wrong size, off by 3 to 4 inches. The job super told the installer to figure it out and get the windows in because they were done with this job. My father was then told to take pictures and videos and send them into the main headquarters and they would make a decision. Now he cant get anyone on the phone, the installer did the best he could but they had to add 2×4s all around to get the windows to fit and then they couldn't finish trimming them out because the brought the wrong material. My father is retired, a Vietnam vet, Purple Heart recipient and this is how he was treated by this company he trusted to do this job correctly. Find another company, do not give them your business.

United States | 19 October 2022I signed this contract in May and put $1,000 down. It is now October and cold with no word during the 4 months of what the hold up was. Finally, I get a call mid October with an installation appointment. 2 days later, I get a call saying my installation is cancelled because their contractor quit and we can’t reschedule until they hire a new one. DO NOT SIGN ON WITH THIS COMPANY.

United States | 19 October 2022Run away from this company - Sales sold us 2 extra windows we did not need - then no communication from them - have had to call them multi times for updates on status - they want 50% upfront (gave them that) then another 40ish % at time of delivery ( but to their warehouse - not your home) so you have to almost pay the full amount BEFORE they do anything. Sales man said time of delivery to my home - which was a LIE.... This company so far is a joke - about to get lawyers involved.... asked them to make it right and call me back for install - never called back.....

United States | 04 October 2022We had placed 2 separate orders for our windows in our home. The first order had a few hiccups, but eventually got taken care of. The second order is a different story. The window screens have large gaps in the corners and after months of communications (all started by me, the customer) we were finally told "that's the way they are supposed to be and someone would call me. Well I responded by saying how can this be when the first order of windows the screens were not like this? no answer, no response, no call back. Customer service is TERRIBLE. One un-happy customer here and I will get the word out how this company treats customers.

United States | 02 August 2022I absolutely regret contracting with Universal Windows for our replacement windows and patio door. We have a manufactured home which had original windows with molding (kinda like paneling) that butted up to the windows on the inside which were old and weathered. They cut out the old windows and threw away the J-Channels on the outside of the windows. They then inserted the windows INSIDE the moldings not bothering to square them or put in any shims to keep the vinyl windows from bowing or warping. They sealed between the molding and the window but NOT between the molding and the studs. After they finished you could see daylight between the molding and the studs allowing both air and water to come in. The patio door jamb was bowed towards the door and pushed out at the top so the screen door kept popping off the track. After much complaining they did come back and reworked the patio door. NOW it’s bowed away from the door and you can’t latch the screen door. Total crap job. The windows they did nothing with other than dumping a bunch of caulking between the trim and the siding. It’s coming up on fall pretty soon and I have no protection from air infiltration! Along with all that, the aesthetics on the outside is totally horrible. A kid could have done a better job. There are so many things wrong about this job that I could keep going but you should get the gist. I have reached out to them several times since their last visit and they totally ignore me. Do yourself a favor and steer away from these people.

United States | 03 January 2022A precautionary warning, please DO NOT HIRE UNIVERSAL WINDOWS DIRECT to install your home windows. The management is so disgustingly bad, the number is of Charlotte, NC - 704-594-1900 actually gets directed to the Cleveland office. You will absolutely regret it. We hired them 6 months back to install new bedroom windows. First, the technicians that showed up were very strange and looked like they have never done this job before, total rookies. Second, the very next day, we realized we couldn't open one of the windows as the piece or one of the window tools turned out to be damaged already. We called them immediately to report this and they told us they will have to order the piece which will take XXX amount of days and then the technician will show up to fix it. Noone called us after the repair ticket number was issued until we called to check if the piece was ordered and then some very unprofessional customer service lady on the phone says - oh yeah the piece is here, we will schedule you on these days. It's been about 6 months now, it remains unfixed. The first appointment given to us was on December 31st-2021(the tech guy didn't show up) then they told us the tech will come on January 3rd-2022(did not show up, with an excuse got sick)- then the date was given on January 10th, 2022 which was again pushed back on January 17th- 2022. They will tell you as a consumer you have a lifetime warranty, but what is the warranty good when the window still remains damaged and you paid for something that you can't enjoy it and the service sucks! big time! This company should be closed for good and definitely calls for a lawsuit. Please make a smart move, a wise decision and USE OTHER AND ANY OTHER WINDOW COMPANIES, THAT WILL RESPECT YOUR INVESTMENT, as these upgrades don't come cheap.
