United States | 07 June 2024I have been using Red Pocket for mobile service (using the AT&T network) for 4 years now, and I love the service in the US. Absolutely nothing bad to say about it. I get annual plans, and save a ton of money. My only issue with Red Pocket (and why I'm taking one star off my rating) involves their alleged roaming in Canada. For the price I pay, I would not think I would even get free roaming in Canada and Mexico, but when I researched before a recent trip to Canada, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I did have roaming in Canada with my Red Pocket service. Everything I read said that there is nothing I would have to do... it would all just work. That couldn't be further from the truth in my case. Touching down in Edmonton, Alberta I had no cell service. After contacting Red Pocket, I was told that they would have to explicitly turn on roaming for my account. After they did that, and waiting a while and restarting my phone I did have service. Perfect... problem solved. Not so fast. My trip to Canada was to help my nephew drive his car from his school in Edmonton to his home in Anchorage, AK. This was a long Alaskan highway road trip. Much of it without service. At the end of the first day, we arrived in Fort Nelson, British Columbia, and the service that I had in Edmonton was long gone. No service at all even though my nephew (who has service with AT&T) had service. Contacting Red Pocket this time, and many other times during my trek through British Columbia and Yukon was fruitless, and I had no service until finally making it into Alaska. Very frustrating. The customer service folks wanted to be helpful, but they eventually would end up blaming the problem on my phone. That is the phone that was roaming successfully in Alberta a couple days before. If you live in the US and are looking for a good, inexpensive MVNO, I highly recommend Red Pocket Mobile. I only caution you to not rely on having service in rural areas of BC and YK provinces of Canada... even in places where phones with direct AT&T service roam without a problem. My advice would be to get a temporary SIM that is guaranteed to work in Canada before heading out.

United States | 07 June 2024I accidently got out of my AT&T Prepaid $3 Daily Plan, which I really loved because I'm currently stationed overseas and needed to keep my number for the short texts (bank verification texts, id verification codes, etc...) So my adventure began by hastily and unnecessarily purchasing a Skype Number (which I later found out by trial and error that it does not accept bank verification short texts), then also unnecessarily signing up for a Google Voice number (which also does not accept bank verification short texts), and later tried a myriad of other apps that seemed to somewhat solve the issue of keeping my number but would not guarantee that I would be able to receive short texts. So not wanting to deal with the uncertainty, I took advantage of my recent trip stateside to sign up for RedPocket. After doing my due diligence (multiple chats with CS to answer all my questions, primarily that I could use wifi calling overseas and that I could port in my AT&T prepaid number), I realized buying that $5 GSMA SIM chip at Target was my best purchase this trip! Porting was actually a breeze and took less than 20mins. At 9:00am I was an AT&T customer, by 9:25ish I was dialing and calling from a RedPocket network! I also made sure to talk to a CS rep and have them enable wifi calling, so now I get to keep my number and receive short texts for $5/mo on their $60 annual plan! Im paying just as much as my unnecessary Skype Number, but I get 500 mins AND 500 texts included (which would have cost extra on Skype by having to add credit or using up credit on my old AT&T prepaid plan). Overall, it's been stellar! So far have not felt any coverage issues around my area (Southern CA) and wifi calling seems to be working great when I tested it out on Airplane mode. Will have to wait and see how it works when I get back overseas but seems like signing up for an actual network service provider was the right choice (since most US financial institutions only send short texts to verified mobile numbers.) So for all expats/travellers needing an inexpensive solution to keep their local US number while also being able to use it overseas, give RedPocket a try!

United States | 06 June 2024Great service so far with incredibly quick number porting. Only problem was that texting didn't work on my son's new iPhone, purchased from Red Pocket. We had to install a 2nd eSIM to get it working properly.

United States | 06 June 2024RP CS Jennie helped with some really technical settings to ensure that I could activate calls and SMS for my RedPockt eSIM that allowed me to use data but did not allow to place or receive calls or send texts. She went thru various solutions in a methodical manner and finally found the issue to be related to a missing VoLTE config.

United States | 04 June 2024I can't believe how easy it was to sign up & get going. ATT is the only cell co. that gives us good cellular service, but we can't afford it. Thanks to Redpocket I was able to use my less than 3 yr old Motorola phone, pop in a new SIM card & get talking on the phone again!!
