United Kingdom | 23 September 2023Stirling Ackroyd was absolutely wonderful when I signed my tenancy with them. However, now that I’ve ended my tenancy, I am having to fight to get my deposit back - like many others have reported in their previous reviews. There is no communication unless I chase. I have had to call and email - all of which are ignored or when I do get a response, it’s over 3 weeks later. I have only recently received the inventory report from check out (I left my flat over a month ago, so why am I only getting the information now), and it’s because I had to chase. Despite my emails including my address in the subject and message, I have been asked for the address several times, as if I hadn’t included them. Unfortunately, I will now have to file a dispute, and will be contacting the Ombudsman and my lawyer, to see what the next steps are, as it’s clear that while Stirling Ackroyd may have good reviews, they have no interest in helping me, have let me down and I cannot recommend them.

United Kingdom | 22 September 2023Have not had a good time under them as tenants. We have just moved out of our property let by them and it has been a nightmare. As soon as you sign the tenancy agreement, they don’t care. Once we notified that we were not renewing our contract and they put it back on the market, they would constantly try to arrange viewings a couple of hours before, despite us saying that we need 24 hour notice. The biggest thing however is our deposit. Our landlord authorised release of our deposit two weeks ago, we have emailed and called multiple times with no one answering where it is. We finally managed to get through today to a quite rude woman who said there was no record of this but looking back, she didn’t even ask for any further details or our address. Really disappointed and still awaiting our deposit.

United Kingdom | 13 September 2023I received a call from Sandra Holmes at Stirling Ackroyd on Monday regarding my property, Sandra ran through several services that Stirling Ackroyd offered and asked me what plans we had if any with regards to our house. Unfortunately this time we were not in the market to sell but knowing that we were due to be renewing our mortgage sometime soon I asked if a valuation could be organised for us. This was carried out the very next day as I was very busy at work myself, and conveniently Sandra managed to book in a survey to fit in with my work schedule which was great. This was carried out by Matthew Parr, one of the sales directors, very professional and knowledgeable. I would like to thank Sandra for all her help and impeccable customer service, a true asset. A great team to deal with.

Today we have decided to rate their service, motivated by the exemplary service provided by a particular agent, Letizia. Letizia has truly been a remarkable agent since taking over our property management. Her unwavering support and timely response to any concerns we had, has been exceptional. She has always made herself available to us and has always been prompt in resolving any issues. During our latest contract renewal - our first one since Letizia started looking after our property, she offer a remarkable level of support, supporting us in negotiating a mutually beneficial agreement for both us and the landlord. As tenants, it was great (and surprising - due to negative experiences had in the past with other companies) to witness Letizia & the renewal team ensuring that neither party received any special preference - helping us on building a lovely (indirect) relationship with the landlord. Additionally, we had the opportunity to witness Letizia's exceptional communication and management skills in action, particularly when dealing with contractors. France | 07 September 202318/09/2023: As predicted, following check out the tenants have come back disputing the amounts proposed by the independent check out Clerck and Stirling have just forwarded this for me to handle! I've had my house in Townends, then Stirling Ackroyd's books for rent since 2005, so 18 years of frustration and anger. I have explained on countless occasions that it was NOT a money making business, it is MY house and I needed an agent to look after it and be my eyes and ears. Over the years, I have had lots of problems, I found that living abroad meant that agents don't care, don't represent you and the tenant (being there) was ALWAYS given preference! This was proven to me times and times again! This year however, the tenancy problems went TOO far! Tenants complained about numerous problems. In dealing with it all, I realised that the agents are NOT managing the property, they are just LIAISING between different parties (tenants, contractors, landlord). That is not what I call managing a property. Recently, they sent me a quote of over £1000 for a 1m2 flooring! Any idiot could see that was way too expensive but not them! £380 material + £673.83 labour I wasted time telling them that was outrageous and to get them to send someone else! I complained over their complaint procedure several times on very different things but all relating to the same problem really (lack of management). Each time I'm contacted by some supposed manager of sort, who gives me the sales chat and tells me they have taken my complaint VERY seriously and will allocate a property manager (lucky me!) so that I only have 1 person to deal with! Rubbish!!! Of course, that's not true, I still got tons of different people contacting me on different issues! The last property manager was useless, to the point that Stirling Ackroyd sacked her, I was told, although they had told me she was extremely professional and been with them for a few years!!! Why didn't I change Estate agents? Living abroad makes things complicated and as they say better the devil you know....! This year, the property has been so badly managed that I have had to fly over to sort things out, get rid off the tenants and I have ended the contract with this company! I am surprised to see that they get some good reviews, perhaps the ex-Townends branches (Egham) need to be investigated as the customer service there is poor! Oh, I was told: "Now that we have physically met and moving forward, I will make sure your property is looked after properly...." To which I replied: "there won't be any moving forward..."
