United States | 20 May 2023Great rates; easy application; no hassle of going through an agent. Only minus point is that all banks and credit unions are not supported by the ACH withdrawal. I had to send in a check.

United States | 21 April 2023Good luck funding the annuity with a wire transfer---I've spent 3 days and several hours trying to get the money sent. The instructions on the Canvas site say to use "Puritan Life Insurance Company" as the recipient, but when I contacted Puritan they say they do not accept wire transfers!

United States | 11 April 2023Love the rates the ease to do business. Just wish my IRA hadn’t been due when it was. I could have done a LOT better with their latest rates. Very pleased with this company so far! Highly recommended to everyone.

United States | 10 April 2023The online operation is very convenient. But there's a bad experience in switching the flex fund to the future fund.

United States | 09 April 2023The process is still a little wonky but I'm used to it now. It's much easier to deal with rather than filling out forms and mailing or giving details over the phone to an agent. I like that everything is electronic so it's stored and easy to retrieve for reference purposes.

United States | 07 April 2023Canvas offers great annuity rates. The online application is very easy to fill out, and if you need help, there is the online chat with Ben and other qualified individuals to help you with questions you may have. The rating for Trustpilot was high, along with the company's ratings from better business B. Customer service was very helpful, and always there. A great company to do business with. I am very pleased so far.

United States | 06 April 2023The fixed annuity rates were very good. The online application was easy. I have contacted the customer service a few times and got good response. I would like to see more information either online or in the contract to clearly see the maturity value at the end of each year if no withdrawals were made. Also, early withdrawal penalty amount should be clearly displayed by the end of each year.

New Customer
United States | 17 January 2023I was excited to receive confirmation that I had successfully completed the online application for a 5-year Puritan Life Annuity. This was on Wednesday afternoon before Christmas (Sunday), so I opted to send the money for my Annuity via a wire transfer, thinking this would ensure my payment's arrival before the hectic last weekday before the Holiday stretch. My wire transfer was sent same day at 3:30 PM, and I received confirmation it was sent by my bank along with a reference number for the wire. I then called Canvas twice on Thursday but surprisingly its Customer Support couldn't verify my wire's arrival; after my late afternoon call I was firmly told to call back on Friday. I did, and was relieved finally to be told my wire transfer had surfaced and its funds were to be placed into my new Annuity. Bolstered with this success, I waited until the Tuesday after Christmas to purchase a 2nd Annuity, and this time my telephone call to verify my 2nd wire transfer was placed 2 days afterwards - and I received the same assurance of its arrival! I felt really good about my decision to trust Canvas/Puritan Life with $100k of my hard-earned retirement savings! Incredibly, and unfortunately, today (Jan 17) - when I attempted unsuccessfully for the 2nd time to enroll in the online customer PORTAL using my 1st Annuity's code - I learned that my first wire transfer had NOT been processed despite being told before Christmas that it had been received by Canvas/Puritan Life. I had tried to sign-up for this Portal account just after the New Year, but it wouldn't work - and I just assumed there was some delay in getting my account ready given that it was during holiday period. But 2 weeks later, this same attempt failed so I called Customer Service and received the deeply distressing news that my 1st Annuity was NOT established - with the further explanation that perhaps my payment (wire transfer) actually may not have arrived. Wow...was I lied to by Customer Service so I would stop calling before Christmas holiday to inquire about the status of my wire transfer payment (I only called 3 times!)? To the credit of today's Customer Service rep, she offered to personally track down the financial officer to discuss my situation, and she did so and called me back within about 30 minutes. Turns out, the dreaded last weekday before Christmas likely was to blame, as my wire actually WAS RECEIVED (as I was correctly informed) but somehow it just fell through the administrative cracks that inevitably occur during this last workday before Christmas. I urge that Canvas establish a notification procedure for customers who elect to send their Annuity's funding via wire transfer; they should at least be given the option to be notified BY EMAIL so there will be a written record of the receipt of this funding instrument (and not - like me - have to rely on verbal assurance that may or may not be accurate). UPDATE 1/18/2023: I received confirmation that my 28-days-old Annuity was retroactively established & credited with the interest it should have earned. I also received excellent tech support with signing up for the online Customer Portal, and helpful Customer Support via the 3rd-party service which Canvas has contracted. I've upgraded my 2-start to a 4-star rating!
