United Kingdom | 02 July 2021We recently bought a coffee table, dining table and 6 chairs from Ercol via a local supplier. First the good news, the wood workmanship and design is lovely. Sadly, that's the only good news. The coffee table arrived with a 2 inch scratch - thankfully I noticed before the delivery team left so there was no quibbles about that, and it was replaced. (Although this took a while) However, within a fortnight of nothing more than normal use, the dining table also developed a quite bad scratch. Ercol refused to deal with us direct at all, and were very little more use when dealing via the supplier. We got a local french polisher (Who, by coincidence, used to work closely with Ercol) to take a look and he advised that the lacquer was poorly chosen and badly applied, and for £200 he has stripped back both tables and re-lacquered. The difference is night and day, the tables have a beautiful visible grain now which the factory finish had entirely obliterated. Ercol had no interest in hearing about the poor quality of their product, even from a knowledgable professional, were borderline rude whenever we tried to contact them, and eventually offered a paltry GOGW £50 payment on a furniture with a total RRP of £3,400 which should not have met their own internal standards. I would never recommed buying Ercol again unless you can inspect closely in person, and have someone with some knowledge of woodwork inspect before you pay.

United Kingdom | 19 June 2021I bought a set of Ercol pebble tables in walnut and beech. Beautiful, and made the same way they were over 50 years ago. I also bought some lovely stools for the kitchen, made from solid ash. As well as these new items, I have countless items bought second hand, for small money, most of which I restored myself so that they now look like new. I have three 427 chairs, a 203 chair, a plank table, four dining chairs, two cow horn chairs, a media cabinet, several chest of drawers and several other items too. I was surprised at the number of negative reviews here, but then for each review here, they must sell hundreds if not thousands of items, so most people must be happy with the product.

United Kingdom | 19 June 2021Well that's another of life's lessons shattered - the notion that "you get what you pay for", "buy cheap buy twice" etc. We have several pieces of Ercol furniture, that we've been investing in over the years. Last weekend, our well cared for King-sized Teramo bed collapsed, only to reveal the "real woods" that Ercol boast about were in fact literally just cheap fibre board behind a thin film of oak veneer. Seriously, Ikea stuff is better quality, but just more honest chip board at a third of the price (and our Ikea kitchen has a 25 year warranty). To cap it all, Ercol are not prepared to help - the bed frame is 7 years old and we have to pay for a new bed spine. This is a huge disappointment to us - and the lack of any warranty info on Ercol's site suggests a cynical and sharp approach to customer aftercare. We mistakenly thought it came with a 20 year warranty and that justified the price. What an embarrassment to UK manufacturing. No more Ercol for us.

United Kingdom | 04 June 2021I bought a large ercol table from Barker @ Stonehouse, an Ercol stockist. Took 9 weeks to arrive, and was delivered with a key part missing. 10 days later and despite repeated phone calls and emails to both Ercol directly and Barker & Stonehouse, the part has not arrived. Bad quality control initially (which is inexcusable from a supposedly high end brand) and shockingly bad customer aftercare - a total joke, in fact. Will send the product back and buy elsewhere and recommend others do the same.

United Kingdom | 27 April 2021Like most of us I was not well prepared for suddenly doing my office job from home. I needed a home office and wanted furniture that was good quality, stylish but that didn’t break the bank. I found just the ticket with my Ercol desk and the company were friendly, accommodating and came out and delivered to me within days. Highly recommend.

United Kingdom | 13 April 2021Don't buy an Ercol sofa. Biggest mistake we ever made. We previously had 2 Alston sofas which were extremely comfortable. Unfortunately they had to be replaced as they didn't fit our new house. We really liked the look of the Ercol sofa and thought we would treat ourselves. We have wasted good money. The sofas took twice the length of time to arrive as originally quoted. On arrival it was very obvious that the one sofa had very poor quality sofa cushions. We complained to our retailer, Arthur Llewellyn Jenkins. They contacted Ercol who agreed the wrong foam had been used. We have waited 14 weeks for replacement cushions. During that time the sofa was too uncomfortable to sit on. Also during that time the other sofa cushions have settled & now that soda is uncomfortable. We are now going to have to buy better quality cushions costing £500. Really not happy & go only recommend you don't buy Ercol.

United Kingdom | 02 April 2021Bought an Askett sideboard through Leelonglands. Took three attempts, and months, to deliver anything near an acceptable quality. Unsurprisingly this range has been discontinued very early. Whilst the Chinese supplier must have been poor, Ercol and their suppliers need to shoulder some responsibility for poor quality control.

United Kingdom | 31 March 2021I ordered a dressing table many months ago and it should have been here 6 weeks ago, but I am being told that we will have to wait yet another 5 weeks for it which will take the total wait to 18 weeks. This is getting on for 6 months wait which is entirely ridiculous. I was really looking forward to receiving the furniture as my first try of Ercol furniture as I had heard good things and I was planning on buying more. Now I would suggest that no one uses Ercol as they do not deliver on their promises and have had my monies for 4 months now and NO delivery of the furniture. This is horrendous and meanwhile I am left looking at boxes with everything in, it is totally unacceptable and there really is no excuse for it to take nearly 6 months to receive a normal factory made piece of furniture

United Kingdom | 22 March 2021Bad experience. Bought 3 pieces from the teramo range. The shelving unit had brackets badly attached to the top of the unit completely visible and the holes that were drilled are appalling. (I wish I could attach a photo to this review). Whilst I completely understand the safety requirements, the instructions were not followed as they advise to attach the brackets below the top of the unit. This way the brackets would not be visible, I would have used them and I would not have removed them revealing the appalling workmanship. Whilst Ercol have offered a refund, they have not once acknowledged that they have not followed their own instructions or the bad workmanship. A refund wasn't really an option as we had ordered the unit with two other matching items. I requested a new top for the unit (I could have then attached the brackets in the correct position). Ercol refused to do this. I asked for compensation. This was also refused. I can not for one minute think that anyone would find this issue acceptable. Had I had the opportunity to put the unit together myself I would have followed the instructions and there would have been no issue. It is not cheap furniture and I expected more. Quite frankly I have never had this issue with any other furniture, even IKEA! I will not be buying any Ercol furniture again. Very disappointed to say the least. I would like to say thanks for your response Ercol, but once again you fail to acknowledge that you have not followed your own instructions which clearly state to fix the brackets below the top of the unit. This section is copied from the instructions.. 'Screw one of the brackets on to the back of the unit in the middle, using the short screws provided. Make sure the TOP OF THE BRACKET IS BELOW the top of the unit. You have even put it in capital letters to emphasise the point!! Had these instructions been followed there would have never been an issue, however you took it upon yourselves to drill 2 holes on top of the unit. Badly drilled at that, as if they were an after thought. Not what I expected from Ercol. Like I said previously, I have never had any issues like this before with any other manufacturer. I sent a photo to you at customer services of Ercol advertising one of your tall units that was very similar to the one I bought which clearly wasn't attached to the wall! This obviously goes against everything you claim to be priority! Again you failed to comment on this. I'm not quite sure what you mean by saying I wasn't able to use it as I wanted to. I am using it exactly as I want to, the problem is that I either have 2 awful looking brackets completely visible attaching it to the wall, or two badly drilled holes in the wrong place on the unit. AVOID AT CALL COST not the quality it once was and very poor customer services who do not acknowledge anything. I would advise anybody that if you really want Ercol furniture then buy the vintage pieces second hand. The quality is far superior. I wish I had done!

United Kingdom | 02 March 2021Appalling service so far. I accidentally ordered an item twice from the factory outlet. I have been charged twice and it was brought to their attention immediately. Three weeks and numerous calls and emails later this still hasn’t been dealt with.

Netherlands | 14 February 2021We purchased a Triggiano sectional sofa 5 years ago . On delivery the legs were faulty and a new set were sent out . Over the last 5 years the legs have been repositioned numerous times as the chipboard base is not fit for purpose . So we now are left with an expensive sofa that we are afraid to use as the legs and base are not fit for purpose. We have older Errol furniture which we love , but have been so disappointed. Our retailer Stokers have been very helpful sending repair men , but we are getting to the end of what can be repaired ! This model didn’t last in the catalog very long I presume there was a design fault !

United Kingdom | 01 February 2021Having purchased the ercol Forli corner chaise which came just before Christmas my husband and I were concerned that every time we stand up the seats look old and saggy. We contacted the company we had bought it from and, also ercol direct. Ercol said they do not deal with the customer directly and I should let Claytons Carpets contact them on our behalf. We had a 'specialist' attend who seemed anything but professional though I will not make derogatory comments of a personal nature. He said it was the style of filler...foam with a fibre top and said it was normal. I contacted CC again and said I was unhappy as I am concerned with the longevity of the sofa if it looks this bedraggled now but when I suggested replacement foam they suggested that was something I could consider at our own expense. I am hoping this can be resolved and hope ercol do the right thing and accept that some of the toppers they use are not offering the type of quality worthy of their name and price tag. I am still waiting for a reply to my last email in which I have asked for new foam fillers at their expense.

United Kingdom | 19 January 2021Took delivery of Ercol Marinello sofa on Dec 3rd 2020. It already feels as if it is sagging and we're constantly turning the cushions - not very impressed after only six weeks. Well, Ercol kindly came back, accepted that their cushions were sub-standard & they were replaced after only a couple of months. Sadly it seems in common with many others, the replacement cushions are already sagging again after only a year. Ercol sent a technician who said this is standard & advised us to rotate the cushions with zips facing outwards which feels better but shouldn't be required. Ercol say we're to live with it. We're appalled at the quality and response after only 15 months. But it seems from reading multiple reviews that this is a common experience.

United Kingdom | 19 November 2020We purchased two Ercol Novara sofas, an armchair and footstool from Peter Green in Chandlers Ford. Problems with both sofas creaking. Technician called twice but was unable to repair. Then returned to Ercol and came back six weeks later still with the same fault. Think it had just been sitting in their factory/warehouse. Eventually obtained agreement via Peter Green to replace. We chose G Plan Washington sofas - one fabric, one leather and a footstool. In a different league to Ercol in terms of quality and comfort. Really beautiful sofas and feel so well made and supportive. The leather sofa is absolutely stunning. Steer clear of Ercol sofas and chairs. I should add and emphasise that Peter Green customer service have been superb throughout. Both they and G Plan are highly recommended.

United Kingdom | 14 November 2020Took delivery of a Forli Grand Sofa, Snuggle chair and footstool from Barker and Stonehouse, footstool is partial self assembly, four legs had two bolt holes each and eight bolts in total supplied, instructions clearly showed two bolts per leg, base of stool only had four pre-drilled hols in wrong position and base had no wood where legs should have been supported B&S finally refunded. I let Ercol know via email as I was concerned that the rest of my suite may have been checked to the same level of expertise, they said they'd pass to technical and come back to me, nothing after two months so I chased, they told me to revert to B&S. Shame I can't give less than 1 star

United Kingdom | 17 August 2020Reference previous feedback about the cushions we had recovered br Ercol for £2550 . very shoddy work. Our retailer has been very fair and reimbursed us the refund for Ercol's mistakes…Ercol would not accept that there was a fault so we have sent them a cushion cover in a parcel but they have ignored that and left our retailer to pay the refund. Unfair because Ercol renewed the covers , not the retailer. When Ercol told us they were reimbursing us we thought they were paying…not so….I was too quick in thanking Ercol , now I take it back. Buyer beware…Ercol is not what it was once was. Tony Rogers..Essex

United Kingdom | 15 August 2020Purchased cosenza chair and large sofa from Lee Longlands. Very disappointed with fabric and comfort. Lee Longlands sent someone out to check but told it matches with item in store and fabric pile crush is normal wear and tear. Had for 6 weeks so not really wear and tear yet. It may match the one in store but you do not sit on it for the evening.

United Kingdom | 24 July 2020Thank you for responding so favourably to my review. I have, as you suggest, sent a photograph of the slight scratch to the middle of the table, to Customer Service and await their response.

United Kingdom | 06 July 2020Bought some Cosenza sofas from the outlet. Within less than a year the padding within the cushions has given way. I have waited four months to get a reply from Ercol only to tell me that they are not interested in supporting me, and although my statutory rights remain (sale of goods act 1979 which state that goods must be of a satisfactory quality) they're not interested in even discussing the issue. Will be raising a legal challenge with the company. So disappointing as other than being rubbish quality, it looks lovely Just an update... ercol has lost another star... 4 months after the reply and now about 7 or 8 months after the fault was reported I STILL don't have the replacement parts... Despite the public facing promise below they weren't ordered and then when I chased I was given another 5 week wait... I appreciate covid is a pain but you're still selling and shipping sofas... I've now waited the best part of a year... Come in Ercol, get your act together this is a joke!!

United Kingdom | 08 June 2020We ordered 2 Cosenza sofas - a small and a medium. We contacted the furniture shop two days after delivery as the seat cushions on the large sofa do not fit. There is a 1.5 inch gap. A technician visited the house and told us that this is normal and the gap is so that the cushions will have room to spread. We find this hard to believe as the small sofa cushions fit snugly. Were the cushions to spread sideways they would be so shallow as to be most uncomfortable to sit on as they are not very deep. After four months the gap is as wide as ever. I would also mention that the scatter cushions are very poor quality. We are very disappointed with this expensive purchase and would like Ercol to take the sofas away and refund our money.
