I had great experience with Getmyboat platform. The process of booking a boat for my wedding celebration was actually one of the easiest tasks. First time I booked it I run into little issue with the captain and Getmyboat customer agent stepped in to solve the issue for me instantly. The second time I booked a boat it was a perfect match. I have nothing but the best things to say about the process and the experience once on the boat. I guess I can suggest really drilling down the details and sharing it with the captain and the crew before the boat is booked. It’s easy to overlook some details.

Using GetMyBoat has been so helpful with starting up my new charter business in the Cayman Islands. It has allowed me access to meeting new people around the world and sharing a great experience on a wider platform. Very user friendly and effective is my two key factors with it. Excited to see how successful business season will be using GetMyBoat . What I would like to see in the near future is an option to choose what percentage they take. Meaning if I choose for them to take a greater percentage that will give me perks for more advertising on a greater scale.

I would not recommend using GetMyBoat based on my recent experience with trying to book a boat on Lake Ontario for a group of 18. My main point of contention is the lack of flexibility around their cancelation policy for weather. Many of the boats on lake ontario are $2000+ and offer a zero dollar back cancelation policy (even if weather is too severe to sail) and the GetMyBoat booking fee of 10.5% is fully non-refundable. Those who do offer a cancelation policy tend to only offer 80% back up to 10 days prior to the booking. This type of lead time for cancelation makes it very difficult to determine if the weather will be favourable to go out on the water. I selected a boat with the most flexible cancelation policy I could find which was 5 days with an 80% refund (excluding the 10.5% GetMy Boat Fee). The captain was gracious enough to extend this policy to allow us to cancel 3 days before but the weather forecast had 90% chance of heavy showers with 40-60mm of rain. I ended up having to cancel my reservation and was only refunded $940 of my $1,490 booking for services that will not be delivered. I asked GetMyBoat if they would provide a credit for a future booking for the $550 fee that was charged and they did not provide any concession or indicate any willingness to work with me to try and retain my future business. In my opinion, that's a short sighted business practice and a cash grab. Their customer service is slow to respond and generally not as customer centric as other 3rd party vacation/experiential booking platforms like VRBO or Airbnb. Overall poor experience and an unsatisfied customer. Would not refer, would not recommend.

The owner of the boat tried to charge us for damages that where already where in the boat and have video proof of it. Also the owner tried go charge us a $250 for not returning the tank full when it was more than three quarters full and the marina we went to which he told us to us was closed and he said it was no problem. They are money hungry and will try to do anything to charge you a fee.

Booked a boat and inquired multiple times through multiple communication channels (app, email, call, text) over the course of 2.5 weeks with no response from owner. I reached out to support for help, they asked to send all comms and then didn't reply. Boat owner finally got back to me, accused me of faking emails and calls, accused GetMyBoat of scamming me out of a fee, and then accused me of faking my bank statement and that he wouldn't refund me. GetMyBoat finally responds and says it is up to the boat owner to decide on a refund. I told them about the accusations and they did nothing. Will not use again.

Hired a boat for 4 hours out of San Diego and then had it cancelled on me at the last minute. However GetMyBoat automatically processed the refund back to my credit card. I was able to find another boat out of Dana Point that worked for us (we’re about half way between the two locations) for the same date and time and rented that successfully and had a good time on it.

1st time user. Platform provided a good sense that my payment was safe and renting from an individual (rather than a marina) was good option. It went perfectly. Excellent communicaion with owner. Very accomodating.

After alot of back and forth with Kevin from San Diego on his 2022 yeamaha Jet Boat, i had agreed to rent it for 4 hours (within the 24 hour window) After two hours, I had realized i booked it over a mandatory football practice (some of you know how that goes). I promptly apologized and asked to reschedule or refund my $430. The owner, Kevin said he completely understood as he has a son in baseball but NEVER actually rescheduled my service NOT did he refund me. I had reached out for almost a week and he said he was doing everything he could which was absolutely nothing. Now he refuses to respond. Basically, i lost $430.00. This is extremely unsat to have these types of owners on this app.

I'm sure a lot of people have positive experiences with this app, but it really depends on the quality of the person you're renting with, since the site does not allow written reviews to be posted. I scheduled a rental with someone who had 250 reviews and over 4 stars so I thought I was in good hands. He barely communicated up until the time of departure. Our group arrived at an abandoned house, he did not pick up my calls until he replied via text saying the boat needed to be towed and he was "looking into it". After that the last message he sent was to "go ahead and cancel". When calling GetMyBoat customer service, it would go to a personal voicemail. The call quality is poor and it feels like an unprofessional setup - as other people put it, "bare bones" company.

I guess it’s like airbnb. You can have one amazing experience and then a dud. Well our 1st is a dud and maybe it’s just the owner we booked a boat with in Lake Tahoe “Mike” his communication was quick and then it went to zero. He just canceled our trip 24hrs before, stating he is booked. Yes he booked with me. Some of these boats are on multiple sites, so I assume some of them take the highest rate. Sucks because we already agreed to his rate and were billed a confirmed. Hoping for a speedy full refund. FYI, same thing happened with “Cody” in Lake Tahoe but on the Boat Setter site. He at least canceled 3 weeks before our vacation. Both Boatsetter and GetmyBoat had excellent customer service and credited my card. They wanted to give me a credit with Boatsetter and GetMyBoat but I told them no and my card was credited.

I chartered a 4 hour 45 foot boat off Waikiki for 5 hours with Tony Black, who has sailed most of his life. Super fun, safe and the 6 of us loved it! I highly recommend him!

I booked Camille's Yacht in Austin, TX and she scammed us. Before we got on the boat, they told us that the bathroom does not always work and they apologized for this. The first girl that walked into the bathroom walked out and explained that it didn't work. We never used the bathroom on the boat as a result. The captain apologized and said this happens a lot. Now they are trying to charge us $500 to fix their toilet that already didn't work. In addition to this fraud, the captain was under the influence. He was smoking weed (which is illegal in Texas) , drinking hard liquor, drinking spiked seltzers (twisted Teas - that he packed) and drinking our booze (spiked Topo Chico seltzers). Needless to say, we did not feel safe on the boat. We asked him multiple times if we could go around the lake and he wouldn't take us anywhere. We docked the boat a few feet away from the dock and never left. We had a terrible experience. A complete fraud.

My girlfriends and I had an amazing time on Camilla's and Gabriel's (captain) boat. We booked the boat for 5 hours, which was an easy process through the GetMyBoat app. There were so many boat options, all of which were reasonably priced. We went on a girls trip to Miami and the GetMyBoat app took our trip to another level. I will def use this app again.

We’ve used GetMyBoat twice now, and have had a great experience both times!! Both boat owners were friendly, prompt, and explained everything thoroughly. It’s super convenient and an affordable way to enjoy the water (cheaper than owning a boat LOL)! Highly recommend!!

The process was easy and fast. Our boat owner and the captain were both responsive and helpful. It was my granddaughter’s first boat ride and she had a great time! The only suggestion I have is the app still needs some testing and changes as using the website from a browser was easier.
