Founded by Celia Hay, the New Zealand School of Food & Wine has been educating the next generation of baristas, chefs, restaurant & café managers, sommeliers and wine professionals, hospitality- tourism entrepreneurs as well as people who just love good food since 1995. Located in Auckland's Viaduct, our NZQA New Zealand Government accredited qualifications offer practical hands-on cooking and hospitality-tourism focused certificates, taught by a team of chefs, restaurant managers and wine professionals who are experts in their field and focused on the success of our students.

I think the process of learning everything was really effective as I remember the exact method to making all the drinks I was taught. I also have so much knowledge on coffee I would have never had if I hadn’t taken this course! The teacher, Frank, was very understandable and funny and taught us fast but thoroughly.

This class I took was on mocktail making and customer interaction. It was both super enjoyable and very informative! There was a good mix of mocktail making and learning other practical hospitality skills. I went in with almost no experience but I learnt a lot and a lot and never felt like I was "behind" or was trying to catch up. The instructor was very nice and offered a lot of insight to the industry. The assessment was open book and extremely easy to complete. The mocktails were really tasty and we were able to put our own spins on them, which was wonderful! I had a lovely time! :)

Course and Tutor is prefect. He teach me the knowledge of coffee and skill more than I expect. I may join another course soon.

Definitely a great learning experience and very much idiot proof course. I made a mistake off adding too much water and that was easily fixed with the chef. Would recommend to anyone wanting to pickup or improve their baking basics.

Celia was an amazing lecturer. Kept us all super engaged even though it was online only. Helped me learn so much about the foundations of wine, I was able to get an entry level role at a local winery. Nidhi has also been super helpful with coordinating different courses and looking at different options for my studies. Definitely 5 stars all round. Can’t wait for Level 2!

It was such a good experience. The instructor was helpful and was very knowledgeable which I thought was great. The class I attended did not have that many people but it meant that you were able to get more support from the instructor if needed. I enjoyed the different techniques we used and appreciated the challenge presented with some of the more complex recipes. Overall, I would recommend this to everyone. (Plus, you get a certificate at the end which was a nice addition)

An informative and fun two days learning all about wine. Frank, our instructor was fabulous, and the small class size made it really easy to engage and ask questions. An excellent ranges of wines were presented for us to taste and learn from. I highly recommend attending the course if you have an interest in wine, and particularly New Zealand wine.
