Planning to buy Karndean Looselay and the free samples we ordered are very useful in making our minds up which timber colour we should use. We have already used Karndean in the kitchen and can't fault it. You must seal it though.

Lifetime guarantee? I purchased a Karndean floor from a Karndean Partner Retailer in 2016. It came with a lifetime guarantee. After 8 years there is very little sign of wear but the flooring is lifting because the latex screed has failed. The Karndean Partner Retailer has informed me that the fitting is only guaranteed for two years. Karndean aren't interested in helping because there isn't a problem with their product. I asked Karndean how a retailer became a Partner e.g. did their fitters have to attend training courses but the answer was no. What makes matters worse is that they have discontinued my floor so the possibility of having a patching repair is not an option. After eight years I need a new floor. So don't be taken in by the lifetime guarantee. You have two years even if your floor is fitted by a partner.

UPDATE:- 23rd September 2024 Sadly, Karndean have yet to resolve the issue with my flooring. I would advise anyone who has children, dogs, cats, other pets with claws, to never purchase Karndean flooring. It is not “quality, durable and most certainly not exceptionally high performance.” As for the guarantee, non existent. Shame on you Karndean, your customer service is atrocious. Original review. I chose Karndean flooring after researching the options available and then from their website, believed paying more money would provide better, long lasting quality. On their website you are guaranteed, quality, durability and exceptionally high performance. This could not be further from the truth. In the winter of 2020 I had Kardean Light Oak KP99 fitted in the kitchen & lounge of my cottage. I did not move in until April 2021. All was well & the flooring looked wonderful. Sadly in June 2021 the kitchen was flooded and the flooring had to be replaced once all other repairs/replacements were made. From approx June 2022 I was in contact with the shop where I purchased the flooring from, regarding scratches & poor quality to both rooms. The manager took measurements and photographs & agreed that considering I live alone with two dogs, work six days a week, the quality & durability were questionable. Karndean’s response in 2023, yes it took that long for things to move forward, was to respond with, they would NOT be doing anything about it. Scratches were to be expected. The retailer challenged this and in December 2023 Karndean arranged for a surveyor to call out. Again taking measurements & photos. He said he would send a report along with the photos of the two rooms and I should expect a reply by the end of January 2024, due to the Christmas & New Year holiday. I was happy with this and truly believed we had made great progress. We are now Thursday 11th April 2024. I have had absolutely NO communication from Karndean, which has led me to have no other alternative than to write this very honest review of my own personal experience. Please be very careful when choosing who to buy your flooring from.

I have never written a negative review in my life but my disgust in Karndean’s Opus 213 product and their abysmal customer service has made me. Four weeks ago, as part of remodelling downstairs to make it more accessible for my wheelchair/ mobility aid using husband we had 50 square meters of Opus 213 laid. I did my research, checked their anti-slip rating, and believed the company jargon that it would be worth spending 5K on flooring to make my husband’s life easier. In fact, it’s had the opposite impact, the floor is so slippery that able bodied people slip on it, I have to wear outdoor shoes when walking on it, but it is completely inaccessible for my husband. The supplier sent their technician the day after I complained. He said the floor was dangerous! Karndean were informed, and 3 weeks later they produced a condescending report which is little more than a cut and paste exercise avoiding the issue and denying anything is wrong with their floor. A floor that is slippery for able body people and inaccessible to mobility aid uses is not fit for purpose. Karndean’s suggestion is to use another manufactures product to make it less slippery. If I wanted to put other manufactures products on the floor, I would have bought cheaper flooring and done that. Karndean don’t care, my husband sits in isolation in the only room he can access, while they cut and paste company jargon in response to complaints

I've been a staunch supporter of Karndean flooring for over two decades, drawn in by its promised durability and quality. However, my latest purchase has significantly tarnished my opinion. For years, I considered Karndean to be the epitome of reliability, a "bomb-proof" option in flooring. Yet, the recent degradation of my flooring under what was described as minor impact contradicts everything I've come to expect from Karndean. Despite the company's investigation attributing the damage to impact, both the retailer's flooring engineer and Karndean's own inspector were taken aback by the extent of the damage, indicating that such degradation should not have occurred so easily. The flooring now reveals layers beneath the top finish due to flaking around the damaged area, undermining the very essence of what Karndean claims to stand for. I have always held the Karndean brand in high regard, enough to consider addressing my concerns privately before taking them public. Yet, the dismissive tone of the attached report, suggesting an eagerness to overlook the issue, prompts me to question the integrity of Karndean's product standards and warranty claims. Is this an isolated incident, or is it indicative of a larger issue with Karndean's flooring quality? As a loyal customer, I find it crucial to have these concerns acknowledged and addressed. The lack of durability and reliability in a product I once trusted implicitly is disheartening and raises serious doubts about what Karndean stands for. Even ignored by UK Managing Director which I emailed directly.
