Canada | 05 March 2025Worst company I've ever dealt with. Was told we would win within 14 days automatically (and it always states on the website) that because the landlord hasn't sent any defence at all, wr would win. Nope, after waiting 3 months for no reason, was then told the landlord can keep the deposit. No reason or anything. They don't like paying anything out of there own money. If you're renting a house and the landlord is using this scam company, run a mile..complete crooks. Now we have to go court

United Kingdom | 05 March 2025Absolutely corrupt scumbags - side with tenant despite for no reason, Had several tenants who admit to us they owe rent or bills and to take it out deposit (which is usually far less than they owe). however they then do not correspond with email request via mydeposit to agree to release when request deductions so my deposits will not return. On other side if landlord does not respond quickly then all money returned to tenant automatically. Very unfair system. Specific incident when tenant paid zero rent in 4 months, left within fixed 6 term tenancy, trashed room- mess, rubbish & damage to property, abusive to landlord & other tenants in sharehouse. Deposit & 1st month rent paid by local council and he paid nothing ongoing as was agreement. All these issues were evidenced to mydeposits but yet they released deposit to tenant despite evidence from both landlord and local council who paid (council advised landlord could keep as goodwill gesture due to such aweful tenant but otherwise to be returned to them as tenant has broken all contracts with them too). Scumbag tenant owed over £3000 in rent and damages yet they returned his £500 deposit (that was never paid by him in first place to him & legally council money). Mydeposits reasoning when complained was we did not provide bank statements showing tenants payments when asked as evidence despite me explaining tenant had never made any payments and therefore I could not provide this (as no bank statements with his name or details on). Tenant also failed to provide this but they sided with tenant. If it wasn't for terminally ill family members, we would be getting solicitors and formal legal court case against mydeposits. Have sought basic legal advice and they advised clear cut case that we could win reasonably easily given our evidence and none from tenant but would requires time and court attendance which we do not have the time or mental energy to do. Mydeposits prey on victims and supports criminals! I highly advise avoiding this supposedly government approved scheme as clearly they have no interest or understanding of tenancy contracts and landlord or tenants obligations.

United Kingdom | 19 February 2025Just had to go through the deposit dispute service because my landlord did not release any of my deposit and proposed a number of unfair deductions that I disagreed with. Reading reviews of mydeposits before I started I was worried it was going to be fruitless....The process takes a few months from start to finish, but overall the assessment from the adjudicator was quite fair. Received about 80% of the disputed amount back, so the process was well worth it. Mostly agree with the decisions. Helpful staff on the phone who explained the process and timelines at the beginning when I was deciding whether to do this or not. The key as a tenant is make sure you provide ample evidence - better to provide too much evidence than not enough!

Ireland | 18 February 2025The process required an amount of effort and resilience, but the directions to customers were not overly onerous and were clear, and the company were flexible at a number of points. I felt I was given a fair hearing, and the outcome was balanced and fair (I didn't get 100% of what I wanted, but got considerable redress compared to what the landlord's initial intentions were, which I felt were incorrect and unfair). If you feel that the landlord's retention of any portion of your deposit is unfair or illegitimate, then it is worth instigating this mediation process. It is binding and there is no appeal, but the finding will be clear and fair.

United Kingdom | 13 February 2025I am extremely dissatisfied with the service provided by MyDeposits. For over two months, I have been battling with my letting agency to retrieve my deposit, yet I have received nothing. Despite the agency and landlord failing to present any evidence supporting their deductions, my deposit remains unreturned. Upon discovering that my deposit was unprotected for over three months, I filed a claim with MyDeposits. Since then, I have been tirelessly contacting them daily, seeking the return of my funds. As an organization designed to support tenants and prevent such situations, their lack of assistance is appalling. It’s been nearly two and a half months since I vacated the property, and despite providing all necessary evidence, I am still waiting for my deposit. This is disgraceful.

United Kingdom | 12 February 2025I had an excellent experience with Claire-Louise and Lynn. From the moment my call was answered, these two laddies were professional, patient, and incredibly helpful. As it was my first time dealing with such a situation, I was quite anxious, but their calm and reassuring approach truly helped me relax. By the end of the calls on both times/days, I had a smile on my face, feeling confident and at ease. I truly appreciate the dedication towards the job with great customer care. Thank you to the amazing team at mydeosits. So far you have been amazing and would recommend their service to anyone in need of prompt and professional assistance.

Netherlands | 10 February 2025I recently went through the ADR process with my|deposits regarding a disputed deposit, and I’m satisfied with the outcome. I was awarded £565.38, which will be paid to me within 5 working days through the payment method I selected. The reasons for the allocation of the deposit were clearly outlined in the adjudication report, which I could access online. Although the decision is final and binding, I appreciated the transparency throughout the process. The communication was clear, and the prompt resolution made the entire experience straightforward. I would recommend my|deposits to others for their fair handling of disputes. Date of Experience: November 2024

Australia | 06 February 2025Landlord in Norwich put us on this scheme, half way through the tenancy we get an email saying hes taking us off it, at the endnof the tenancy he stole everyones deposits. I still get emails from mydeposits about my contract which ended over 2 years ago and im supposed tonsend signed contract to make it stop, how about you deal with the company that signed you up and get to the bottom of why you syill think im a tenant and why he removed you half way through a tenancy. What do they actually do? If its protected then how can thay protection be removed by the person whos likely to steal it? Beyond stupid, absolutely pointless company edging their way in as a middle man just to make money, dont actually have any ability to hold your deposit until things are dont properly and have inadvertently supported a wanted international criminal in stealing money from students and young professionals. At least you got paid huh.

United Kingdom | 05 February 2025Thank goodness for this scheme of arbitration. What should have been a very amicable end of tenancy in an excellent property was marred by a landlord/agent dubious claim for property cleaning. In the end MyDeposits thoroughly examined the case and came to a positive and,for us, correct, decision to return our deposit amount.
