Very happy with mattress and bed

The Artisan naturals mattress wasn't right for us. Not sure if it's because we're quite slight, but it felt very firm. We also sleep on our sides, which apparently you need a softer mattress for - but according to their sales rep this is one of the softest they do. But fair play to them, they took they mattress and gave us the full money back with no quibble. I'm sure the mattress would be fine, perhaps for someone heavier who sleeps on their backs.

We bought a John Ryan mattress three and a half years ago. We were impressed but their customer service and the delivery and fully expected to enjoy our mattress for some years to come. We found the mattress to be very comfortable for the first three years but then the ‘natural settlement’ reached levels that made the mattress very uncomfortable. I contacted John Ryan to ask if there was any action we could take, other than turning the mattress which we had been doing since its delivery, to mitigate the problem and try to flatten out the raised area in the middle of the bed. The customer service department was very friendly but their only suggestion was for us to take it in turns to sleep in the middle of the bed to flatten the raised area. We felt that this was a rather unpractical solution and in the end customer services arranged for our mattress to be assessed by an independent company to see if the ‘natural settlement’ had reached unacceptable levels. The two gentlemen who visited us to assess the mattress very polite and thorough. They photographed the mattress, measured the settlement using a plumb line and did actually lie on it. They agreed that the mattress was uncomfortable and that it had very definite settlement but said that this was not extensive enough for the mattress to be replaced under guarantee. We have not heard anything from John Ryan since their visit a month ago but concluded that we were not going to be offered a replacement mattress based on the assessors’ findings. Thus we have ordered a new mattress from a different supplier. We fully understand that some settlement is to be expected but thought, incorrectly as it turned out, that we should be comfortable for more than three years on a mattress which we paid £1235 for. We are both in our fifties and hence have owned and slept on a number of mattresses and have never experienced this problem before. We thought that we had bought a quality product which would afford us many nights of comfortable sleep and are disappointed that this has not been the case. The whole experience has however taught us a valuable lesson ~ the guarantee on a mattress only covers major manufacturing issues and in no way ensures comfort.

I prefer a medium support mattress, and my husband prefers firmer support. So it's always tricky to find something that works for both of us. I dont like memory foam, too hot, wanted something breathable. After much deliberation we ordered the Origins zip link king size, 1500 one side and 2000 the other. It's perfect. Its not too soft for me or too hard for him. At last, we are both happy. The quality is excellent, the customer service and email response very quick (thanks Michaela), can't fault them.

I bought my King size Artisan naturals mattress a month ago. It's amazing.The mattress is so comfortable,I have gone from being up in the night with aches and pains to sleeping the whole night through. I was pretty much sure that I had bought the right mattress because I'd read everything on the website about other mattresses and the composition. So, I ordered and crossed my fingers.I need not have worried ,a lady called me from the company almost immediately to check with me that I had made the right purchase. The company also kept me in touch with lead times and the delivery drivers were on time, polite and helpful.

Recieved mattress from John Ryan. Delivery team brought it into the bedroom took all the packaging off and placed it on the bed base which I thought was very good.

Having decided on a new mattress we were very impressed with John Ryan after doing a online order we were surprised to receive a phone call from them with a very nice lady running through our order asking for body weights, our sleeping position eth to make sure we had chosen the correct mattress for our needs. Great service from start to finish, zero hassle! I placed the order and within 30 minutes I was called by a lovely woman, she asked me a few questions to make sure the mattress I had chosen was the right one for me. I was then sent out all the information to care for my mattress once it arrived. Once the mattress had been made I was phoned by the delivery company to arrange a delivery date. Everything arrived on time as expected with zero hiccups or hassle. The mattress itself was a welcome upgrade, different level of comfort. Ordered an artisan medium sprung mattress, proved a bit soft for my back, when I phoned them, no problem you’re firm mattress is on the way. Extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable. Would recommend them 100%.

My wife and I have always purchased directly from manufactures rather than retailers this is just our thing. We were raving on and on about John Ryan mattresses and then came the problems. We contacted John Ryan and started by asking them one question are you a retailer or manufacturer and they replied by stating word for word “we have been making our own mattresses for the past 15 years”. I then asked them are you NBF Members to which they replied “Yes we are”. I told them I can’t find you on the NBF members website to which they replied “We should be on their website, I will look into it”. So we called the NBF whilst still talking with John Ryan and the NBF told us that JR are not members as only manufacturers can be members are they are not manufacturers. When I told this to JR it then turned to our manufacturer is a member. I am shocked by the lies you attempted to tell me and my wife and now worried what other lies have been told. So I decided to do more digging and honestly I am shocked to what I have found out about the manufacturers you state make such luxurious mattresses and are based in the dales when they are simply located in Batley. They have no heritage and make mostly budget type mattresses. We have been deceived and lied to. I will definitely not be recommending you. Also if you decide to reply with one of your condescending replies I have all evidence in screenshots of what you told my wife and I so please don’t bother saying it did not happen.

The whole experience from the initial sales advice to the delivery was exceptional. The mattress is really comfortable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommended.

I have been very impressed - I accessed masses of great information on the website for starters and then - wanting to know more info specific to my needs - I got to speak to a very knowledgable person who asked me all about our needs in terms of preference for feel and our sleeping position. This might have been a bit strange were it not for the fact it was all mattress based! Their advice was spot on, the company delivered on time, a great mattress that we are both very happy with.

Needed a new mattress & didn't really know where to start - lots of helpful info on website & over the phone. Made our choice & a few weeks later our new mattress arrived & and old one taken away for recycling. Faultless service & super-comfy mattress!

had a double mattress for the last 3 weeks from this date 09/09/2000 for far it has been excellent. definitely try them out as it comes with a number of trial days, yes more expensive but if you want quality you have to pay for it, buy cheap buy twice, and hand made in the UK,, unfortunately, the mattress i purchased did not work out for me, John Ryan by design ltd returned my payment without question, an Honorable Company, they did their best to for me, would definitely buy from them again
