First class customer service and exceptional products. This is the third time we’ve bought from John Ryan and we’ve never been disappointed. The standards they set are very high, both in product design and production and also in helping their customers throughout the sale process and beyond into after-sales service. *Customer service* We were buying our first new bed for over a decade, and for the first time were able to afford something more than the most basic of mattresses. The team at John Ryan were beyond helpful, talking us through every step of the selection process and recommending the bed that was right for us (not the most expensive thing they offer, as we'd experienced on the high street). When the bed was delivered and the base wouldn't fit up our narrow staircase, they fixed the problem without a fuss and at a ridiculously reasonable price. *Comfort* I waited over a month to post this review, and can confidently say I've never slept in a more comfortable bed. The fact that it can be flipped both ways (top to bottom and head to foot) gives me confidence that it'll remain comfortable for years. *Price* This isn't cheap, but it's no more expensive than a bed from one of the big brands, with the added bonus that it's properly well-made with identifiable, natural materials that breathe (no plastic here).

We're very happy with our new mattress from John Ryan. The website was easy to use and It was helpful to be able to then talk to someone about the mattress we'd selected to see if it was the right one for us. It was useful too to read other people's reviews. The mattress itself (Artisan bespoke 004) is perfect for us.

Such a good experience ordering my John ryan mattress. The customer service has been superb and I'm really impressed with the quality of my new mattress. I was initially a little worried that settlement might lead too a hump in the middle, as the top is so bouncy that it does sink down quite a bit, but with regular rotation, I'm pretty sure it's going to be fine and it's super comfy. I've slept like a log.

Very good service. I ended up speaking to Ryan about my purchase query - Ryan then went on to have x2 video calls with me looking at dimensions to get the mattress up our stairs and the other time showing me his mattress set up in his own home. He really did go the extra mile! Mattress is top notch - zip and link offering works a dream, very sturdy zip and can not feel the join at all. Sleeping v v well!

Very helpful company - willing to provide advice, and keep advised of progress. No quibbles over changing the mattress out for us to a different model when we were not finding the initial one comfortable.

Purchased a Origins 1500, zip and link, super king, with base and headboard, 12 months ago..it is meant to be one of their firmer mattresses. Also promised some additional castors on wheels as part of the sale. 1. Delivery is poor..clearly they use external delivery companies. If you are spending 2-3k you would expect in today’s modern age to be offered a few delivery time slots..but no they offer you what suits them, Not suitable, next one available was 3 weeks away, and accompanying email advised to accept or might not be able to deliver bed for many weeks after that due to their busy workload. Lucky it worked out. Top service !! 2. No additional castors came, wrote it on the delivery note when I signed, sent e-mall to company but no reply. Tried email today 12 months later, and they said will now send. 3. The draws in the bed base are not deep, you cannot store much in them, but overall base appears decent quality. 4. Mattress was great when first arrived just what was looking for, however over time 6-12 months, what they like to call NATURAL SETTLEMENT means the bed now feels like a very very soft bed. With these NATURAL fibre made beds it appears that once the fibres start to settle under your weight, indentations of your body are left all over the place. My wife was in the bottom end of MEDIUM spring tension category and me the TOP end. I did mention at time of buying surely if the tension is the same and she is 55kgs and I am 100kgs I will end up sinking lower than her and should I go for a FIRM spring tension, but they said no and to go for the MEDIUM. 12 months in and I now sleep lower down than my wife because I am heavier and my side has sunk more, the middle of the bed is higher because it is a big bed and less time is spent sleeping in the middle so when the new baby comes in the middle he rolls down this hill in the middle of the bed towards me or wife, totally defeating idea of getting a larger bed for kids to sleep in middle. If you want a bed that will offer good support and stay the same shape get one without natural fibres in as they will not compress. I have had much cheaper beds that offer better support. You will save yourself a lot of money. JR offer a 60 day no quibble money back guarantee which is fine if you try the bed and it does not suit right away but natural settlement occurs over longer period and you will not notice it in these times...so irrelevant. I have brought all this to attention of JR and they offer independent assessment of bed, but I am sure the natural settlement will be probably be within ‘industry standard limits’ as per other poor reviews. Save your money and buy a cheaper non natural fibre bed. As far as I can see the only way to even out the natural settlement is to sleep in the middle ( defeats the object of a bigger bed) and put weights at the bottom and top end of the beds so the natural settlement occurs evenly over the whole bed to avoid sleeping in a bed which is developing into something akin to a hammock !! which was meant to be one of their firmer beds. I look forward to sleeping with dumbbells by my toes and head and down the middle of the bed!! Bit of a waste of money but lesson learned. JR do talk about natural settlement on their website but after 6-12 months seems a bit soon to me. I would try your bed first, don’t buy over the internet.

I already had an Artisan Natural which is amazingly comfortable and this time I purchased an Origin 1500 for the spare room. Nothing else comes close at there respective price points.

Took us over a year to make the decision to order an Artisan Naturals Mattress from John Ryan. We’d never spent so much on a mattress in 31 years of marriage but we were impressed by the informative detail regarding the mattress construction and the insight into the way mattresses are sold and decided to treat ourselves. Delivery was within the 28 days advised and delivery service was good. We find the feel of the mattress really good and are getting better sleep despite the warm nights ... not sure we’re looking forward to flipping the mattress in two weeks time ... (75kg is a clear indication of how well built this mattress is) If you’re waivering then take it from us ... go with the head ... don’t worry about buying a product you can’t lie on before purchase ... trust John Ryan ... you won’t regret it ... we really should have bought this a year ago!

This is more of a long-term review, as it's now nearly two years since I ordered an Artisan Naturals mattress in 'double' size. Firstly, the ordering experience - the amount of information on the web site can seem a bit overwhelming at first, but it is well worth reading and digesting the facts. Interaction with the staff was very helpful in confirming my choice. The delivery itself was smooth and on time. Secondly the product itself - after two years use it still feels pretty much 'as new'. I do rotate and turn it regularly, and am so pleased that I went for a double-sided mattress rather than a no-turn one from the high-street stores. It is quite heavy (a tribute to the quality construction) and a little difficult to turn on my own but worth doing, and I can report that any settlement over those two years is pretty minimal. I do now use a third-party mattress topper to give a little extra softness, but this was more because one became available rather than any real need. So in short, I'm definitely a satisfied customer, and would happily recommend John Ryan by Design for the quality of your service, and especially for the quality of the product.

Brilliant all round really. Great website, lady on the phone was super helpful in clearing up my last questions, delivery guys were fab. And to top it all off, the mattress itself is brilliant too. No comments on longevity, ive only had it a few weeks, but it definitely feels built to last and is *way* better than the worn out in no time lump of soggy foam that was on there before. Had a megabucks vispring before that, and my John Ryan is easily as good as that was at a fraction of the price. If youre after excellent advice on a good mattress at a fair price with brilliant customer service, these are the people you need to speak too.
