After 4 years, we are very disappointed by what was a premium price mattress. We took their advice, but despite investing a lot of money in multiple toppers, frankly it is uncomfortable. When we spoke with them for advice, they were defensive and said that we were outside our trial period. We knew that and were not even suggesting any replacement or refund, just asking for advice.

Our Superking Artisan Naturals mattress is the most comfortable mattress we've ever slept on. It's like sleeping on a cloud that holds you perfectly in place. I no longer get a burning in my hips and my husband no longer has backache in the morning. We thought it would take a while to get used to but from the first day our sleep improved massively. The only negative is that one month in, despite airing the mattress daily, it still has a very strong farmyard smell as do all our sheets/pyjamas. Is this to be expected and for how long? I'm loathe to send it back because it's so comfortable but would like clarity on when the smell will dissipate.

Delighted with new artisan bespoke bed. Had very helpful advice before buying and recommended mattress is exactly what I wads looking for. After a month it is very comfortable and supportive. Delivery was ahead of schedule, arrived on time and delivery men were quick and thorough.

John Ryan were incredibly helpful throughout. Checking that the mattress could be delivered by asking for a video to show where it was going. Constant support throughout and advice on the best mattress for my various sleeping issues. I also liked that the mattress could be returned after 60 days If it did not suit. It’s not going back I love it!

Initially John Ryan had card payment issues which took a couple of days to resolve as they insisted it was problems with our card supplier, later found it was their own system at fault. Contactless delivery as we were isolating, but never did recieve the delivery note, even after asking for it. Great mattress though.

I'd taken a gamble on a popular (and very well reviewed) online mattress-in-a-box manufacturer and what arrived was so hard that both me and my wife developed back pain within days. To give them their due, the company refunded the mattress without any quibbles. After some exhaustive searching I found John Ryan. I was bit wary about using another purely online provider but they make a wide range of proper mattresses, not just a single model, and they have a useful algorithm for selecting the right one. When I put in the order, they also rang me to go through my options and make sure I'd ordered the most suitable mattress (this wasn't an attempt to upsell - they suggested a cheaper one that might also be suitable for me). I ordered a clearance Artisan Tailored Pocket mattress - it is a few hundred pounds more than my previous mattress-in-a-box but is far, far better value and is - by some distance - the most comfortable thing I've ever slept on. I could kiss them. It is still only one month old, so I can't comment on longevity, but so far I've been very impressed both with JR's product and their approach to customer care.

It's still early days but so far the mattress is very comfortable. The only negative aspect was the courier company who failed to wear covid masks and protective shoe coverings (as stated in their extensive email conditions). They both also managed to bang the radiator with the base they were carrying. So far, so good.

Would highly recommend John Ryan by Design. From first contact with the sales lady to delivery of the mattress it was highly polished. Special mention to the advice given as to choice of mattress - the lady helped us and even advised on the cheaper model (we would have happily spent more if it had been 'right' for us). Delivery team also very professional and courteous Full marks!

This is the best mattress I have ever owned. The advice was fantastic and the service was spot on. I was waking up in pain before I got this mattress, I tried toppers, I tried the Emma mattress, neither worked. I called these guys for advice, they recommended a mattress type and it has been spot on so far, I'm back to a good nights' sleep. Eternally grateful.

Delivered on time without fuss.

The customer service is fine and everything went as planned with delivery. I am happy with my new origins 1500 pocket mattress and I am sleeping well on it. I did notice that the mattress is lighter than I expected. For the price I paid £675 for a double I think I would have struggled to find a better mattress for this price. Also this is a double sided mattress.

Exceptional customer service from Gary. Initially very unsure about this company, they didn't offer the 60-night return policy on a 'bespoke' order - it's not like other more standard orders get resold after 60 nights of use (or do they!!)...if a mattress is used, it's used. I'd therefore assume the spirit of the policy should extend to all customers. When the mattress arrived with issues and I didn't receive a response to my email raising these concerns, I immediately thought here we go... yup one of those companies... Turns out they are indeed a very good company. They very politely did the right thing and sorted out a return. I will happily order from them again in the future - knowing that any issues will be rectified.

First time buying a bed online. Website is very good at helping you choose the correct mattress. Spoke on telephone to a polite and helpful male member of staff who took my order and confirmed I had made the correct choice for my needs which was for a guest room. Couple of days later I changed my mind about the colour of headboard and this time spoke to an equally polite and helpful lady who changed my order straight away. Delivery was a week or so earlier than expected which was even better. Was a bit apprehensive about the delivery company having read previous reviews but I had no need to worry the guys (Craig and Sean) were great. Oh yes and the bed is fabulous and my guests loved it too. Will definitely have no hesitation buying from JR by Design for our next purchase. Apologies for late review and not remembering staff names.

It was a pleasure dealing with John Ryan by Design Ltd, they are a very efficient company who listen to what the customer wants. I would recommend anyone looking for a good bed to visit their website.

I’m just so livid that I wasted 50 years and so much money buying inferior beds. My new purchase is sublime, total quality, even the headboard is a conversation topic. Even if you have to borrow the money, buy a John Ryan bed, it’s not a purchase, it’s an investment in your health and well-being. Nigel PS, the delivery guys were brilliant, ten out of ten for them too!

I found Johnryan beds while looking for beds online, the whole process was simple, active l placed the order I was give a delivery time of 4/5 weeks as they are made to order ! In fact it was 3 weeks, The beds were delivered and put together in no time by two very competent gents, we’ve had the beds a few weeks now and are very pleased with them , I would definitely recommend Johnryan

When I ordered, I got a phone call from the John Ryan team to check a few details and make sure the mattress I ordered meets my needs, and after speedy delivery of about four weeks it was everything I expected. Weighty, maybe a little firmer than I expected but clearly well made and very comfortable.

Started off looking for guides to choosing a good mattress online. Stumbled upon John Ryan's website (or shall I say an encyclopedia?) and figured, if they knew that much about mattresses, they must make good mattresses. Proceeded to order via the phone – representative was more than helpful with explaining how my mattress of choice (Artisan 1500) would feel for different body types. Now a very happy owner of 2x Artisan 1500s. Highly recommend.

So the obvious... These mattresses are not cheap, you can find significantly cheaper brands everywhere. But the quality of service from your first call to the arrival of your mattress is first class. These people take the time to explain options and recommendations, based on you. Not a hard sell. Delighted with the mattress, as it's extremely comfortable, soft but firm. Without a doubt Sooooooo much better than anything I have previously owned. No problems whatsoever in recommending John Ryan and should the unexpected happen I have total confidence that they will assist all the can. I had never heard of them before, but so glad I stumbled accross them and researched further. Exclent company 👍👍
