United States | 23 April 2015I have been with Vector since the purchase of my home in Sept 2013 and have never had any issues with them at all, my alarm did go off once due to false alarm (I was in the house) and the police showed up very quickly after being notified. Have a home alarm systems was very new to me and they professionally showed me how it worked and helped me with any questions or issues I might have had.

United States | 22 April 2015UPDATE2: I have to say, Ann delivered for us (see below). The technicians showed up on time and were very knowledgeable and professional. It took some time to get this figured out, but I am very happy with the final result. UPDATE: After reviewing my post, Vector was quick to respond. My salesperson, Jared R., pushed my concern with management (to be fair, he has limits on what he is authorized to offer clients in a situation like this). At roughly the same, my wife received a call from Ann in customer service. Ann was very helpful and, according to my wife, delightful to deal with). Without getting into details, Ann has proposed a solution that we find very acceptable. I will keep everyone posted on how things turn out. As a result, I am cautiously upgrading my rating from 2 to 3 stars. ORIGINAL POST: They accept no culpability for their shoddy equipment and weak technical capabilities. We purchased a new security system from Vector in Dec 2012, including multiple cameras. The system was installed and an initial test run showed that everything appeared to work "ok". Within a week or so, the cameras stopped working. We had a service call and the technician advised the problem was with our internet service (they are wireless cameras), not the security system. He advised we either buy a signal booster (We did: Two of them, neither worked). At some point in the following months, not only wouldn't the cameras connect via the internet, they stopped working altogether. (There were multiple service calls in between). This time the technician came to the house and actually advised us that in his expert opinon, we must have had some sort of unusual power surge that fried the cameras and that we would need to install all new cameras at a cost of $800 each. It is fascinating to me that Vector's camera system, which never worked correctly in the first place, was the only piece of electronic equipment in the entire house (and there are a lot of them) that was impacted by this unusual power surge. Luckily for them, it could be fixed by us paying them several thousand more dollars. A few more calls, and eventually our sales person offered to look into it and see whether they can replace the cameras at a discount, if not free of charge....long story short, the minute my contract is up we are leaving Vector for one of their competitors. Lesson learned: Once the contract is signed, they dont give a damn about their clients.

United States | 15 April 2015Somehow your policy of not checking if the alarm went off accidentally does not make me feel secure. What if we were forced to turn off the alarm when the system went on. Nobody would check on us. I remember when we first started there would always be a call when the alarm went on. So we were very careful to be sure it did not go on accidentally. And I felt that my children were safe when they got home from school. Now I am rethinking if I should try another system that would address this concern. I tried to do this through you but the agent who answered did not help me.

United States | 15 April 2015I have been a customer of Vector for almost 20 years, but I am currently looking for a new security company. I plan to switch to a new company very soon. The quality of customer service at Vector has sunk so low that its representatives have begun insulting the customers. I hope my recent conversation with the service department was recorded. Service calls, even for those of us with a service contract, are difficult to schedule and a long time in the future.

United States | 10 April 2015I would've given them a 5, they are very good and responsive. I had to closely read the contract and submit a letter in writing years in advance, which stated that when the initial contract was over, I wanted to go month to month, 3 years after initially signing for service. I wished they made this part easier. I'm satisfied, but I like options as soon as possible. Also, I would like a set price which includes the cell phone app. That was too costly an addition in my opinion. It should be included at a more reasonable price. And the contractor made me feel that when I declined that cell app service, he was keeping the price over that which other customers paid w/o the app service. He also did not leave me a yard sign, but Vector is sending one. Overall very satisfied with Vector, but not a perfect 5 rating.

While trying to decide what systems were best for my home and my business, my sales guy (Steve Diehl) gave me all of my options to choose from and gave his honest opinion about what he thought would work best for me. I appreciate that he took the time to do that. Vector displays what many other companies have forgotten: true customer service. I would recommend them to anyone!!

I looked into TimeWarner's Intelligent Home, found that TW didn't know what it was doing, called Vector, and found that adding features could enable me to control the thermostat, locks, etc. from afar, via smartphone. I love it thus far.

United States | 31 March 2015They always immediately called to check if anything was wrong. Never had any issues with getting everything set up and fulfilling obligations of the alarm went off. The most frustrating part is moving from the location with the home for sale and they absolutely refused to work with us on the matter. Recently separated from the military and living in another state while going to school full time doesn't mean anything to this company as long as they get their money. We understood the obligations with the contract but they didn't make any effort to understand our situation. It is very frustrating that they couldn't either cancel it early or maybe compromise on the price. The security system hasn't been used for over 6 months due to no one living in the home.

United States | 30 March 2015So far the only times I have needed Vector is when I have made errors by not turning off my system before opening certain doors or setting off the fire alarm when cooking has gone awry. But every time, they have been quick to respond and very understanding. I have been using them for years, both at this house and my previous home, and so far I have been very satisfied with the service provided.

United States | 26 March 2015It is a good feeling to turn on the alarm before going to bed, knowing that we are safe from an unexpected or unannounced "visitor". When returning home from doing errands, I have peace of mind knowing the alarm system protects our home and that it is safe to enter without concerns of an unwanted confrontation. Several months ago, a workman accidentally turned on the alarm by going under the house while the alarm was on. I had gone out shopping and had told one of the guys that the alarm was on and to not go under the house. Unfortunately the second workman didn't know this and went into the crawl space to retrieve a tool. I was amazed how fast I was called by Vector Security warning me about a possible intrusion. Everything was handled quickly. The alarm system went off, the police swiftly arrived, and took charge of the situation. I was impressed how efficient the problem was handled.
