When I called the office they said they had no way of knowing if was going to turn up or not. 5 days later I got a random call from the engineer to say he was on his way, unfortunately I was out that day. I booked another day with Banham. To be fair the engineer was polite and pleasant when he arrived on the second booking. The issue is definitely with the backend office.

We recently moved into a new property with a Banham Security system pre-installed. We reached-out to Banham get the system re-setup and paid £144 for this service. The engineer was called out, he spent some time working on the alarm, and after a short while, he informed us that it had been setup successfully. It quickly became apparent that this was not the case with the alarm going off on an ad hoc basis. We informed Banham on the same day of this. A few days later a Banham surveyor was sent out who confirmed that the alarm was indeed not setup correctly and was not working at all (we were informed it was a fairly old system). We contacted Banham and asked for a refund on both i) the maintenance contact we'd signed up for (we didn't want to pay a £270/year contact for an alarm system that they couldn't maintain) and ii) a refund on the £144 setup fee (given it had not been setup). There was a lot of pushback from Banham on both and multiple hours spent on the phone and messaging over email. They finally let us withdraw from the annual contract but were unwilling to reimburse us for the setup (or lack of) fee despite their own surveyor confirming that it was not in working order. I have never used Banham before and, from their reputation, had assumed they were a reliable and reputable firm; however, we have sadly been led to believe this is not the case. We have wasted our time and money and have been left with an alarm system that does not work, hence the 1-star review. Thankfully, we went elsewhere for our locks (advised by the locksmith that other brands meet the same safety standards and are half the price).

United States | 28 February 2025Beware their policy of no partial refunds for full annual payments, if cancelled mid-year. We had to move mid-year, after having paid up front for the full year. Banham kept the money, according to their contract — which is theft by policy. Bad business will rip off the client in the small print. Here is an example. Sad it still exists but thankfully most companies I’ve dealt with offer a prorated refund for full payments when the contract ends early. It turned out the thief I sought to keep out of my home was Banham! Lesson learned!

United Kingdom | 27 February 2025When I moved house there was a Banham Alarm system already fitted. I would not choose Banham if I had the option. Their customer service has been terrible from the start. I arranged a date for a service as our alarm has a fault and nobody turned up. I even phoned on the day as the slot time I was given was nearing the end and I wanted to check that an engineer would definitely be coming, having waited in all afternoon (1pm-5.30pm). I was told yes they would and I was next on the list. 45 minutes passed and still nothing. I phoned again and the unhelpful advisor just said 'oh it looks like they are coming at 8.30am tomorrow now because it is out of hours and they don't work longer than 5.30pm. When I asked if I would received an email confirmation he said 'i don't know. If I hadn't phoned I wouldn't have any idea what the situation was. It is now the following day and still no one has turned up. I can't get through to anyone on the phone and I am getting increasingly frustrated. For the money they charge, I would expect way better service than I have received during my 3.5 years of dealing with them. I would not recommend this company to anyone.
