United Kingdom | 29 March 2025In February I had laser eye surgery at the Liverpool clinic. They were all great from start to finish and I no longer need lenses after having them for 20+ years. I am really happy with the results and wish I had done it sooner.

United Kingdom | 29 March 2025The entire process was an absolute pleasure to experience. It began with my initial consultation whereby everything about what to expect was explained to me in detail in a very friendly and professional manner by Erin and the optometrist Sarah. After the thorough tests on my eyes I was ready to book my surgery, and the procedure carried out a month later. I had lense replacement surgery on both eyes performed by the fantastic Dr. Sadiq and wow, the same evening I was watching tv without my glasses. I would like to say a massive thank you to optical express for changing my life for the better.

United Kingdom | 27 March 2025Had both eyes treated by NHS some years ago but in Decemebr 2024 my eyesight started to become quite foggy so I visited Inverness and they found that I neede Yag treatment This was done in February and my latest visit to Inverness was for a routine check up. Same staff, Emma at the desk and Raymond in the dark rooms. Always friendly and most helpful. I had my Yag in Glasgow. Excellent service, spot on timings and both eyes treated with no pain at all and at about five minutes per eye. Would recommend Vision Express to anyone. A*****

United Kingdom | 26 March 2025Highly recommend! From initial consultation to aftercare appointment, the service has been perfect. Plenty of opportunities to voice any concerns and questions prior to surgery. During the surgery the team were incredibly kind and caring, particularly when I started to feel a little queasy. Lots of humour to keep my spirits high! Aftercare appointment was thorough and the team were again, very kind and friendly.

United Kingdom | 25 March 2025I received laser eye surgery from Optical Express. I initially chose them as they were the first result on Google. The first consultation in November 2024 at the Cambridge clinic went well and they said I could have laser eye surgery. The staff assured me that they would have surgery dates available during half terms as they accommodate teachers etc. I needed my wife to drive me to and from the surgery and she works in a school. A few weeks later I received a phone call from head office to book me an appointment. Apparently their Cambridge clinic is not that busy. They only have a handful of surgeons that serve the whole country and travel around the clinics. And Cambridge only receives one date a month for surgery and this date was not during February half term. I then requested to cancel. Someone higher up from head office phoned me back and offered to put us up in a hotel near one of the clinics that did have dates available in half term so I agreed. We went to the Milton Keynes clinic on the day of the surgery but unfortunately there were no signs to the establishment and the address given led to an office block, not a town-center Optical Surgery like you would expect. I phoned head office and although the girl tried to be helpful, she had no idea where the clinic was either. We asked a few people and eventually found a buzzer to press for an entirely different company which let us in to the office block where we could get a lift up to the clinic. Entirely not what you would expect for a big brand name like Opitical Express. Apparently Milton Keynes is one of their biggest clinics too. The staff were apologetic and said their sign arrived broken and they had to send it back a few weeks ago. I'd deliberately not researched the surgery beforehand as I didn't want to put myself off. And I am glad I didn't. It was uncomfortable and although technically quick (a few minutes per eye), it didn't feel like that at the time. The nurses and surgeon were nice though. After surgery was done, I was whisked out and another member of staff rushed through the post-op treatments I needed to self-medicate. But I was still in a bit of a dazed state. There could have been some more time between surgery and this discussion, or they could have brought my wife in with me. Post-surgery was horrible for a couple of hours after the pain killers wore off and my eyes healed. It took approximately two weeks for my eyes to heal fully. One week of eye drops. I feel as though the more expensive surgery which I had was sold on being quick and a short recovery time, but once I had the surgery there was lots of talk of infection and a week of wearing goggles to bed and eye drops, which of course is to cover their own backs, but in any-case, I feel like the hard sales push was perhaps misleading. I had a follow up a month later at Cambridge and got the all clear that I have good vision. Overall, I would not go through the experience again, but I am pleased with my vision now. Staff have been lovely at every step of the way, but procedures and hard sales pushes tarnished the overall experience.

United Kingdom | 25 March 2025It’s not often I post negative reviews, but I want to post this so that others don’t lose money, as I’ve done. I researched eye laser treatment, and looked online for cost. Prices on optical Express quoted approximately £1500 per eye, and I called to book a consultation which was arranged for week from my call. Three days before my appointment I received a call and was told I wasn’t eligible for laser treatment, but could have lens replacement instead. I asked for the cost, and was advised approximately £3000 per eye, but it could be more. The caller said if I provided my prescription details that she could give me an exact quote. I was then quoted £8000. Obviously a huge difference between £3000 and £8000, and I therefore confirmed that I would cancel the consultation as the treatment wasn’t what I had booked for, and was outside my budget. I was then told that I would be charged £50 cancellation fee, even though the treatment was different to what I had booked the consultation for. The caller said it couldn’t be waived and would be taken from my card (I’d provided my card information during the first call, as I had been told I would be charged if I didn’t turn up for the appointment, ie didn’t call to cancel). The caller then proceeded to tell me that I should still turn up to the appointment and then I wouldn’t be charged! Even though the consultation would take 2 hours, and having to have eye drops administered too so would be unable to drive, and all for nothing as I had obviously decided I couldn’t afford to proceed. So clearly I had been charged £50 for taking 10 minutes of their time on the phone, but taking their time for 2 hours apparently costs them nothing. I have submitted a complaint, but been told it will take 20 days, presumably they think by that time I will have forgotten about it. I won’t. I can’t believe a big name in eye care would act like a second hand car conman. I will keep the review updated. ***Update - I have been refunded the £50. Whilst I’m grateful, it will make me more reluctant in the future to make adhoc appointments like this, if there might be fees in the small print just for cancelling an appointment. ***

United Kingdom | 25 March 2025When having a consultation for lens replacement it came to light I had fluid behind my eye and the optician did not know what to do, he explained they would monitor it but did not advise if any cost was attached he advise he would monitor it for three months then took into another room to see someone else to talk though costs and deposit and said would see me in four weeks and then I will see the surgeon two weeks later but nothing about the fluid or three moths review which had been discussed with the optician not professional at al. Then the optician was tied up and was going to ring back but never did instead I got the guy that wanted the deposit from me who said he would see me on the 4th may I did not book this appointment and ending up going to see my gp and then to the opticians to have full health and eye exam and referred to the eye hospital which I think optical express should have done as this fluid behind my eye if it rises any further could make my sight blurry and I could loose my vision I would not recommend them in the Trafford centre where the above took place I did read a the reviews expected a few disgruntled clusters but to do this and not refer me to the eye hospital is a big no no for me
