I had a blast and one of the reasons is because I was able stay in contact with family and friends back home without the worry of having to take out a small loan to pay my phone bill. I rented a phone through a company called Amigo. Best thing I could have done. The phone arrive to my house a few days before I left, already programed for international calls to and from Israel. Nice rates too. While I struggled to figure out how to take advantage of full use of my rental phone, (I never found out how to use email or other features) it was very comforting to know I was a phone call away from home. Be sure to use Amigo phone service if you plan to be overseas.

United States | 30 September 2014The phone I rented worked wonderfully in Turkey and Greece for both international and local calls. However, when I got to Italy, I could not connect to the States. Local calls worked fine. Still would consider using the service in the future.

United States | 24 September 2014I have rented from Amigo several times and have always been pleased with rates and service. This time, however, the charging cord I was sent did not match the phone. If it were not for another person in my group who had the same phone, and only had the phone because I had recommended Amigo to them, I would have been unable to recharge my phone when I was travelling. I pointed this out to Amigo when I sent back the phone. I never heard back from them.

THEY ARE PATIENT IN EXPLAINING THE PROGRAM AND HELP YOU TO DECIDE WHICH WILL BE THE BEST FOR YOUR NEEDS. IF YOU NEED HELP WITH PUTTING CONTACTS IN, ETC., THEY ARE VERY PATIENT AND WALK YOU THROUGH UNTIL YOU ARE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS OK AND YOU ARE COMFORTABLE. THE PHONE ITSELF IS GREAT. I COULD HEAR MY HUSBAND ALL OVER ISRAEL AND EVEN WHEN HE WAS ON THE TRAIN AS IF HE WERE WITH ME IN THE ROOM. DON'T HESITATE…..THEY ARE THE BEST!!!!

United States | 19 September 2014Having never rented a phone before for our Israel trips, I was somewhat concerned about renting it for our recent trip. But, it was one of my better decisions. It was so convenient to have access to a phone and when my husband accidently took the suitcase of a fellow traveler by mistake on one of our outings, the phone was a lifesaver as it allowed me to correct the mistake while sitting on a bus. Having had success with an Amigo phone, I see no reason to switch to another company if I am again in need of a rental phone.

United States | 04 September 2014The instructions were not so easy and the phone did not work when I got to the UK. I had to go to 2 phone stores in the airport to get the phone working and get the flow of emails started. They said I needed local 02 codes. They were able to add them in but this should have been explained to me before I went. I never saw the words 3G or Edge in the top right of the phone that the instructions said there would be. Texting was fantastic but receiving email was slow and arduous. It took a long time for the text of the emails to come through.

United States | 04 September 2014I have been to Israel many time and always rent Amigo phone from Cohen Judaica in Boca Raton. The service if always good and the explanation of coverage is always true, not like other companies. The service in Israel has always been good and the phone have always worked fine.

United States | 30 August 2014This was the first time I used Amigo. It was highly recommended by an acquaintance who travels to Israel very often. I and my family had always used a different company when traveling abroad and we were not always satisfied (problems with the phones, very high bills). I had never heard of Amigo but decided to try them. We were more than satisfied. The customer service and ease of reserving the phones (I picked up my phones within one hour of calling Amigo), the quality of the phones and the very low cost compared to the other company I used to use, is why I would highly recommend Amigo (and already have) and would not hesitate to use them again.

United States | 28 August 2014Renting a phone from Amigo to use when traveling to a foreign country is the smartest move ever! It is very easy to rent and also very economical and you are assured that you will have a phone that will work while you are away. I have rented a phone from Amigo many times when I traveled to Israel, but I also rented one when I went to Ireland and Scotland.

The lesser quality phone was useless because the port broke for charging broke off , and it could not be recharged after the unit was initially charged be the outlet we had ordered it from , and was totally useless after the charge finished ! We were very dissatisfied . I called in Israel to complain , and I emailed to inform Amigo . When I took it back to the dispatch in Toronto there was no email or call registered of the complaint that it was not working ! Band Amigo wants to charge ME for having it serviced ... And for the total rental fee ! Even though if they check the records they will see it was not used after the 3 day , and we were away close to 3 weeks !!' So ... We were a family with the use of 1 cell phone instead of the 2 that we ordered !

United States | 22 August 2014Phone was adequate for calling and texting. Data usage was highly problematic and downloading apps that I needed was nearly impossible. Seeing as I took this plan primarily for data usage, I cannot say I am satisfied.
