I've delayed responding to the request for feedback for a while to see how the mattress 'bedded' in! We needed a new mattress after our expensive mattress from John Lewis became unconfortable despite being only 7 years old. I read the advice on the John Ryan website which was very informative and guided us to a Medium mattress. We had been using a Firm and had concerns at changing so I phoned them. A helpful chap confirmed we should be using a Medium because of our weight and that the Medium should give us the right support. Feeling reassured I placed an order It wasn't too long before the mattress became available for delivery and one of their staff called to make the delivery arrangements. Nice not to have just an email saying its on its way. The delivery guys were pleasant and delivered to my my front door during the pandemic which I quite understand. We also paid to take the old mattress away which the guys did quite happily. While the mattress, being a king size, was large and heavy we got it up the stairs and onto the base without too much trouble. It was plastic wrapped on delivery but felt well made and substantial so we looked forward to sleeping on it. Its taken a while to adjust from the firm mattress we had but we are now happily sleeping on our lovely John Ryan mattress. Its had a few turns and we've had to purchase deeper fitted sheets to accomodate it but has bedded in nicely now. Its like being in a hotel every night its that luxurious! It pleases us to beleive the mattress is made and sold in the UK and John Ryan definitely gives great value for money and service with it.

I was shopping for a mattress online. Without being able to try or feel the mattress we depend very much on customer service - and the John Ryan team are there with all the advice you may need. And they didn’t push me towards the most expensive. Five stars.

John Ryan were recommended to us by a family member who purchased a mattress from them a couple of years ago. They couldn't rate the service or the comfort of their mattress highly enough so we decided to get our new mattress from them. After a conversation with an incredibly helpful customer services representative I felt confident we had been recommended the right mattress for us. The delivery guys were very professional and careful in taking the mattress upstairs. They removed and took away all the packaging and put the mattress in position. We've now had our new mattress for a week and its perfect. So comfortable and just the right tension, i've been sleeping much better than on our previous mattress. I can't wait to get back in there each night!

We bought origin 1500 mattress 4 years back. Initial experience was good. We wanted an extra firm matress. The mattress felt supportive but not firm. With in 2 years, my wife started experiencing back pain. We started rotating the mattress more frequently (from 3 months to every month). But it became unbearable. I did contact the company just around when my warranty was getting over (3years). We were told that the mattress is showing natural settlement and the warranty only covers defects. We were asked to put a mattress topper!! The advise about how to look after the mattress sounded like the mattress is a museum pice rather than for home use. We had another mattress by sealy, who happily changed a 7 year old matress for very similar reason and issued a new matress for 30% of the cost. Will never buy anything from John Ryan again. Positives: at the time of buying helpful advice. Negatives: very heavy mattress. Need to turn weekly then monthly (almost an impossible task for super king mattress and need 2 people). Looses its supportive nature very quickly Warranty is a sham. As I cant reply to your message, I am adding it it here. The fact that a £700 worth mattress is being recycled after just 4 years should worry anyone. I am not trying to 'bag a free matress'. I have a 10 yr old matress which is still good and don't have any problems. The other mattress which was changed was also not free. I did contact you before the warranty ended. Natural settlement and poor back support are 2 different things. We went for a higher spring count than what you had suggested in the hope for a better back support and now being told we should put a mattress topper just after 3 years use explains everything. We have turned the mattress every 3 months religiously as looking after our back is important for us. If I had known we have to turn the mattress every month for life, would have not gone ahead with the purchase. Many of the mattresses suggest turning monthly initially and after it is settled, 3 to 6 monthly. The mattress was good for 2 years. How should I know it wont be after 2 years to return it in 60 days? Felt obliged to reply.

I appreciated the call back we got after placing our internet order to ensure we had ordered the most suitable mattress. It's early days but my partner is now getting a better night's sleep than she previously was. It's a good quality mattress.

I was initially nervous to buy a mattress online but as soon as I lay down on it, I knew it was worth every penny. Feels miles and miles better quality than the local high street mattresses I was trying (*cough* Dreams). Couldn’t be happier with the purchase!

I've known about 'JohnRyanbyDesign' for years as my supposedly Orthopaedic Mattress was the best thing ever for my bad back, I suffered for years twisting & turning with pains in hips and shoulders i seemed to spend my night hours turning every 15mins because of pains generated from the ‘Orthopaedic Mattress’, after many reviews I was informed of a Welsh company 'JohnRyanbyDesign' and their website where there is a dearth of info on beds and the right Mattress. Yet I still put off, but did buy one of their 3rd party recommended topper mattresses Soak&Sleep' this helped enormously, but I was still tossing and turning albeit it extended my tossing & turning to every 30mins or so. I bit the bullet and bought the softest mattress they sell a double 1000 pocket sprung mattress, exceptionally deep and luxurious cost £505 delivered, I’ve slept like a baby since. After ordering online I received a call the following day from 'JRBD' to make sure I was and they were happy I’d made the right choice, after a convivially chat 'JRBD' agreed. Mattress was delivered by two guys in a plain white van mattress in a polyethene bag, nothing else; no complaints there, they deposited where I wanted it, removed the bag the Mattress looks absolutely sumptuous with 'Smooth as Silk' imprinted on it. Greatest night sleep ever since. Would i recommend? you bet yah. Could they do better, maybe, all I could see in a negative way was where some of the machine stitching was ended there was a 4- 5-inch excess length of thread that could have been trimmed back nothing 30 seconds with a scissors didn't take care of. For a UK company the price and quality is exceptional. Would I buy again? Hell yea….

Second order with this company. First about 8 year's ago Mattress still going strong. So ordered again last month for my son. Excellent service really helpful staff. Had a few issues with the website itself which almost put me off ordering. But this company answers emails quickly & have good telephone support. Overall a 5* experience

Repeat business from a long time ago - the first mattress lasted well. We simply called up, ordered and they delivered quickly. The delivery company they used was also fantastic - taking the mattresses upstairs even though it was not easy to do.

Don't really like ordering online, I prefer to go to a shop and see what I'm buying. I spoke to a lady at John Ryan by Design Ltd and was so delighted with the response I got. I was nervous about buying online but she re-assured me if I didn't like the product I could return no problem and have a refund. Delivery was made and I'm so, so very pleased with the product. I bought Artisan Bespoke 003 mattress medium tension and it is brilliant. Quality is fantastic, comfort is excellent and would definitely be buying my mattresses/beds from this company again. The mattress is deep, well padded, pocket sprung and so well made that it took 2 meant to try and lift it. I say try and lift it as it is so well made, and really it would need 3 men to carry this, and I only bought a double. Heaven help them if they have to deliver any bigger. The service was just great and customer service was brilliant. Can't recommend it highly enough. Also got a 15 year guarantee with the mattress.
