Great customer service and the most comfortable bed ever going. Delivery was quick and efficient and my sleep has been so much better - hotel stays no longer feel like such a treat when my bed at home is so comfy!

I’ve just bought my second mattress from these guys to replace one I bought from them back in 2008. Once again, the information and guidance on the website was second to none and really helped to influence my decision making process. The whole process from ordering, through to delivery was faultless! The new mattress arrived earlier than promised too. If you’re after a new bed or mattress, do yourself a favour and visit their website first. Even if you don’t buy from them, you’ll be better informed about buying the right product for you.

Have never invested in a 'good' mattress before so was quite nervous. The team at John Ryan were so helpful, talking us through the options - never just recommending the most expensive option, but what will work best for us. Delivery was fantastic - on time and good communication. But unfortunately the first mattress didn't work for us (didn't feel firm enough). We spoke with customer service, who gave us some options to try during the trial period but when those didn't solve our concerns they advised we swap for a different model. The return was so simple, again delivery / pick up was easy and we love the new mattress they suggested.

We ordered the Artisan 1500 Mattress super king from this company. The initial customer service was really good, they seemed helpful and knowledgable. I explained that I have a bad back so would require a firmer mattress but was advised to get this mattress (which is medium) based on my weight. Having given the mattress a really good trial period of nearly 60 days, my husband and I felt that it wasn’t right for us as it didn’t feel supportive, caused us aches and pains, and already had indentations where we lay. I rang customer service who advised that we regularly turn and flip the mattress which we did but it didn’t help at all. Having had it just over a year, my husband and I suffer with terrible back and neck pain. I rang again and explained that it was just too soft and the dips in the mattress were really deep which shouldn’t happen after only one year. The advisor told me that one of us should sleep in the middle of the bed to stop this from happening!! Unbelievable…how is it practical for one of us to sleep in the middle? When I said this, she asked me to take photographs of the mattress with no sheets on which I did and sent them. Homeserve then came to measure the dips and take photos. The man who came was surprised at how badly indented the mattress was considering the short length of time we had it but the dips were just inside the 30mm allowed so he said that they probably wouldn’t do anything. Well, we have never heard from John Ryan since then. I now sleep in the spare room as this mattress cripples me and my husband is really struggling. We are stuck with a £1170 mattress with a ten year guarantee that’s not worth the paper it is written on. I would never recommend this manufacturer, their aftercare and advice is ridiculous and unhelpful, and they don’t care that one of their (very expensive) products is causing so much pain. And I am in no doubt at all that their response on here will be derogatory and patronising. I never ever give bad reviews but after being in so much pain for so long I feel it is deserved. (Since swapping to the spare bedroom, to a different mattress, my aches and pains have gone!!)

The experience was excellent. From getting their advice on what kind of mattress I needed for my height/weight, to the delivery and communication. The mattress is top quality. It was delivered 4 weeks after the purchase, as promised. I'm never buying mattresses anywhere else but from John Ryan. I am 6.6ft and weight around a 120kg. I like very firm mattresses, I went with the Super King Resilence 2 and I absolutely love it.

I have bought two John Ryan mattresses, about 5 and 6 years ago, and I love them. I am so glad they are lasting as it was claimed they would (not getting all worn out and stabby after 3 years and not very comfortable to start with). Mine is a firm pocket sprung with natural wool fibres, even though they do recomend medium (I have unusual joints and back pain due to a medical issue and this one is right for me, but their online guide is a great place to look for advice). I recall the delivery process, because the company made sure to check I'd ordered the ideal one for me (they still recomend the medium but I'm happy with my selection and they didn't push), and they made sure the mattress got onto the bed frame and made some recomendations about protecting it. The one I ordered for my partner is a medium pocket sprung and I can't remember what filling, but they're happy with it and it's alright for their 'princess and the pea' level sleeping sensitivities (a different medical issue). The company went above and beyond on that delivery, because it was discovered at the last minute that the bed frame my carpenter brother had made for it was the wrong size, and they rearranged delivery for me and were very kind. They also made sure to assess a good route through the property and asked me to send some pictures so they could make sure to deliver the mattress without any harming coming to it (and also hopefully the delivery staff). I've noticed when airing out my mattress topper that there's a couple of loose stitches on mine, I think they're just holding on a bit of decorating piping, now it occurs to me I was going to ask the company if I should stitch them back on or leave it. As I use a mattress topper and a blanket under to protect my mattress I don't worry about the bit of decorating piping getting caught on anything and only just remembered it writing this review, good job this prompted me to check up on that. All the structural aspects like the springs and the filling are absolutely top notch. Like really this mattress is so well made. I'm not planning to replace it for at least 5 years, I just went on the John Ryan by Design website to see if I could get any decent free advice about pillows (as they were pretty helpful on mattresses) because my pillows need replacing. The ONLY downside is how heavy they are. I'm really fussy about my mattress getting damaged because I can't really afford to replace it and it makes a huge difference to my life, however it's SO HEAVY I can't move it around by myself. So I'm forever conflicted about asking friends to help me turn my mattress, or not trusting them to move it without bending it. If you have a sleeping partner who loves your mattress just as much as you do and is able bodied you should be fine. Otherwise you'll need to bribe a trusted friend with tea and cake. I can tell the difference if I delay turning the mattress due to lack of friends to flip it (thanks covid). I recomend using a wool mattress topper on it (or whatever your preference) because the company suggest a mattress protector to stop the mattress getting full of sweat over the many years you'll be using it basically. And, also, because they way this type of matress is sewn together leaves those tufts that I can't remember the word for, and those can be a tiny bit lumpy to sensitive sleepers. Maybe I just love my wool mattress topper. My bed is amazingly comfy, firm, soft, supportive, breathable, airs well, never smells, never gets too hot, doesn't 'tip' me into the middle if I have a guest in the bed, never ever ever hurts me or stabs me or causes me weird discomfort of uneven support. It's just a big, dense, carefully engineered platform of comfort and I hope I can find the perfect pillow to go with it.

I bought an Origins Reflex 1000 Mattress. I specifically requested a firm mattress as I have a bad back and after assuring me they were right "90%" of the time the mattress just doesn't support me and feels terrible. I wake up in pain every morning. Unfortunately, the wooden bed frame somehow marked the mattress (which in fairness isn't their fault), so I couldn't exchange it. I'm now stuck with an £800(!) mattress that leaves me in pain and gives me a terrible night's sleep. I'd never ever buy from them again. Please triple-check the mattress doesn't get damaged otherwise you may very well live to regret it.

We bought the origins pocket latex 1500 mattress and was advised this would be best for 16st sleeper. I never review a bed after just a few months. We bought in 2018 and it started to sag and feel uncomfortable after 2 years. No point contacting them as the likely hood of getting a refund or replacement would be zero. Definitely did not last the 7yr guarantee as advertised!

We’ve had our mattress for 3 1/2 years now and have paid over £3k for it. It is SO painful to sleep on it. Our bodies hurt so bad and both our backs are in bits. Its is solely due to the mattress as whenever we sleep on another bed (holidays, guest room) we are evidently better. The shape of the mattress has also changed, it is lumpy and uneven at places. We have reported it to the company who refused to take responsibility. We are stuck with a very pricey mattress that not only doesn’t justify the cost but actually makes our lives miserable.

Just bought an Origins Pocket 1500 Mattress - King Size with cream chenille base with 2 and 2 1/2 drawers. Firstly I have got to say, this is one of the most customer orientated companies I have EVER come across, they are just so on the ball when it comes to looking after their customers. On ordering, they don't push products on you, they genuinely care about you getting the right product to suit your sleep needs and I received a phone call from them to go over our weights, sleep patterns etc to make sure we had made the right choice. The delivery guys were so lovely and even attached my own metal headboard to the bed which they really didn't have to do. I had a slight problem with the base but it was dealt with immediately by business mgr Gary Moss and resolved by him and Director Ryan without hesitation with completely satisfactory results. You just know you are dealing with such professionals here. The bed is a bit higher than we are used to, I feel like Princess and the Pea! When I was buying, I said I wanted a similar mattress to a Hypnos previously used by Premier Inn. Michaela advised that that particular mattress was a pillow top one and, to emulate it completely, she recommended I buy a topper from another company but that I was probably best to try out the bed for a few weeks first. We have slept on it for a couple of nights and it is a bit firmer than our last (ancient) bed but is very comfortable and I don't think we will need a topper. I just love their honesty and top class customer service - so many companies could learn a thing or two from them! One happy happy customer here!
